They should have made Vega the gay option instead.

10x better character and more attractive.

Traynor was much better than Cortez too
I’m absolutely certain that’s why Bioware even made Inquisition is to make up for us not having Vega but putting in the Iron Bull.

Worthy reason for a game, I think.

the idea of skipping parts of games "for free" is silly though, as you need to have some kind of mandatory content, you have to do -something- to progress in said game, this is especially important with games that rely on rigid gameplay loops like Stardew Valley, you're still gonna expand and water that farm(or grind money for sprinklers), or chop woodblocks to build the house, or functional calculators in minecraft

now i'm not saying that's bad as i really enjoy Stardew Valley, but if i was able to cherry pick what i want and don't want to do in the game to make progress, it devalues the game as much from a developer/publisher(and player as well) perspective as people see microtransactions devalue a game from a buyer perspective, it's not even about being hardcore or not

microtransactions don't do content for you, but allow you to go through it at a faster pace or unlock parts of it if you decide time is more important to you than money(which is completely reasonable tbh), am i a fan of microtransactions in "muh 60$ gaemz"? certainly not, especially when implemented in a way like in Shadow Of More Dollars, however we are all responsible adults and we get to chose if we want to be a part of that or not with our wallet

besides, how do we define if a game is worthy, objectively, 100$ at launch, that's a pretty big price(not even counting turn over rates from dollars to other currency and/or prices of video games in individual countries), how will you know if the game is/isn't worth it? it might personally be worth it to you for at that price for whatever reason and that's completely fine, but that doesn't make it universally worth it for everyone, especially if they can buy the game at 60$ and, if they like it and want to support the people behind it further, they can buy the season passes, expansions, yada yada, or are satisfied with the base product at this price, that whole part is wild, also why would you offer collector's editions with stuff that has no objective production value, if one of the very points of collector editions is to have extra shiny physical stuff that has value and some standart of quality?

???????

Nonsense. Publishers have a gun to gamer's heads to buy dlc. Posted Image
Hateful Eight was a fun movie. I wish they'd keep some names off the intro though.

Or people who legit suffer from addictive personality disorder and publishers knowing how to exploit these people’s flaws by making it entirely too easy to indulge or make accidental purchases?

Because I legit have to ensure I don’t attach a credit card to my PSN and XBox Love accounts to stop myself from making such rash actions, as I know that if KT started doing it I’d be ****ed.

No, it’s not the publishers responsibility to babysit those gamers but boy are they quick to implement such a system into it in the first place.

You do. But the idea is that you'll play the parts you want, then skip what you don't. Which is... essentially what buying lootboxes enables, as I'll explain in a bit. And if skipping the content for free is a bad idea, then skipping it for pay is even worse, is how I feel.

I recognize this, and I went off on a tangent. My main point is, if it's not okay for free, then it should also be not okay for pay.

Except the grind to unlock stuff like, say, skins in Overwatch, or taming Orcs in Mordor, or what have you... that IS content you're skipping by buying microtransactions. It's functionally no different from skipping a section of a level in a platformer. You're skipping out on grinding out matches for lootboxes, or searching the randomly spawning orcs for that perfect one, then fighting him, then repeating the process.

Also, Chibi handled one of my bigger issues with lootbox microtransactions. It is, essentially, glorified gambling. Yes, you get something, but more often than not, it's ****, and has no value to the player, unless you get incredibly lucky. People with compulsive personalities will, inherently, be drawn to such things, especially when the developer or publisher sneakily has for-free unlocks and rewards accessed from the same menu you can see

It's somewhat acceptable in free-to-play games as then your payment is putting up with the sleezeball mental manipulation. But in a game you pay a premium for, it's just transparently greedy.

To help the public determine if it's worth it, publishers can put out demos or betas. Buyers also don't have buy right at launch, instead, wait for reviews after a week or two.

I mean, those anime figures people pay hundreds for usually only cost, what, 20 bucks to make tops for the most expensive ones? Figures of those quality, along with stuff like artbooks, posters, soundtrack CDs, postcards, and so on, which are positively DIRT CHEAP to print even at a high quality, and usually come in special or collector's editions all the time. Publishers can easily double the value in the consumer's mind for a special edition like less than ten bucks a package.

I’ll buy a collectors edition if it comes with an art book, but that’s because I really ****ing love art books. Reminds me that I, too, am capable of art if I ever get my act together.
