So, in fact, there was a true ninth Doctor who we didn't know about, Christopher Eccelston was really the tenth, David Tenant was eleven, and Matt Smith is twelve!

Also, TOM BAKER!!!

I don't see the hype around Doctor Who tbh.

I went through a brief phase of liking it, when it was Christopher Eccleston and Rose. It was still decent when David Tenant was the Doctor alongside Rose and Martha but then it was downhill from there.

Not sure how to respond to that as I've been a fan sense before the new series and my favorite is Sylvester McCoy...

Does anyone outside America actually know about the Korean war.

I don't think the British were really involved in it so we were never taught about it at school. In Britain it seems like Britain had to be involved in a particular historical event for it to show up in school history lessons. They love telling us that "Britain discovered Australia" too, and yeah it just happened to be called "New Holland" when we discovered it. Yeah, right.

The Korean war wasn't covered much in our history lessons at least

My sister hasn't even learnt much about it and she majors in history

I love history and I had to research it myself to learn about it. Seriously, any historical event that doesn't involve the British in some way isn't taught in British school. Maybe the Romans get taught sometimes, that's about it.

Learning about WW2 pretty much falsely taught us that it was a war between Britain and Germany with France caught up somewhere in the middle. What a joke.

I hate your feelings.

History is fun, my school told me Washington Carver invented peanut butter when I said he never did.

I guess it kinda makes sense to be taught from the perspective of the country you live in. Though, that breeds some nasty biases. I don't even remember learning about the Vietnam War throughout high school beyond "it wasn't popular....moving on"

Though, College tends to have separate history classes dedicated to specific regions and events. US History, my college as African American History, I believe we have Asian History...among others, more specific things.

OMM: Nearly died twice today

#1 Almost slipped (because my shoes were wet from the 3 day rain were having) with my Ice Cream cone in my hand at Mc Donalds trying to get out

#2 While me and my brother were walking home with our Ice Cream Cones and this lady in a black car saw us coming down the walk way and started speeding up and stopped and turned her car my way and drove towards me almost hitting me and laughed and sped away.

I wanted to throw my ice cream cone on her window :hmmm:

I know about the Korean war mostly through my own research rather than any history lesson.

We learned about WW2, for 3 years running.

History lessons in our school were sooooo interesting! I can only handle so much WW2 as it is, I prefer ancient history to modern.

But it was all about Britain Britain Britain, Germany, Britain Britain
*On the other side of the world the USA randomly decides to nuke Japan because they felt like it*
Britain Germany Britain.

Boring!

@Kamikaze - I can see some country based history being preferred sinc eit is most relevent, but ours was literally all about the UK. nd I'm not interested in the UK, I live here, I know about it. I'd rather study other places.
I get why there is black history month though. We hear about white history every day, black history month is there to give a different perspective on history and give black people something to relate to I guess.

Germany was crushed long before the bomb fell... :hmmm:

My WW2 lesson where good, but they skimped on the details which is where all the good parts are (like the heavy-water sabotage and the U-Boats).

Edit: They ever bring up China?

"WE surrender"
"get rid of your emperor"
"we dont want to it has been a part of outr culture and customs for years we would prefer not to"
US then nuke Japan because they didn't respect other cultures
it was war, it had to be done to do things, i think.

I'm not sure what their reasoning was, I guess it was because it was the only way they could get Japan to surrender. Idk, the whole war was a mess, nobody was right or wrong by the end of it.
