I have not played a sonic game since...Sonic 3? Whichever one had that Knuckles expansion thing where you had to put a cartridge inside a cartridge.

I never really cared about Sonic... :XD

Ew Massachusetts. Ew. How are you going to allow upskirt photos to be legel in your state. Disgusting.

I am planning on passing a bill to cut Massachusetts off the United States, making it a disgusting island country. Anyone want to sign?
Posted ImageI will. Where is their sense of modesty?
Here's the article.

I am about to run to Massachusetts and punch every single government employee in the jaw.
Seems more that it's a matter of how the law is written than anything else. You can't arbitrarily change the law as a judge just because something is wrong. Besides, Massachusetts is one of the states leading the charge on legalizing gay marriage in the US. You really want to take that away from the US just because of a poorly worded law that allows perversion and really just needs revision?

Further, I doubt you (heck, I doubt many people) recognize how many people are employed by the government, and how many people who work for the government don't necessarily agree with its policies. My mother has been working for the executive branch of the federal government for decades now, and she had to put up with working in the executive branch (one of the sections of the Department of Labor) with Bush as president. She certainly never voted for him and agreed with practically zero of his major policies.

The solution is not punishing (or should I say punching?) innocent people and severing a state away from the union. The solution is suggesting that Massachusetts make a law against this kind of voyeurism, and if it is important to you to rally for it.

P.S., Blame the west for private parts being censored in Japan. If we weren't so uptight about sex, they wouldn't have banned uncensored depictions of genitalia during the Meiji Restoration and again with the Japanese constitution.

it's wrong, the people who decided it was legal are awful and disgusting, the government should be held accountable for a disgusting thing, defending a disgusting thing is just as disgusting.

but okay.

Thanks for the essay though.

I don't see how a photo of some panties is really that big of a deal to feel so strongly about it... The government watches you touch yourself through your webcam after all

Uh. Just because the latter 'might' be occurring doesn't excuse the former, lol.

What the guy was doing was a gross violation of privacy and a woman shouldn't have forego wearing a skirt or fear wearing one because some creep is gonna take a picture from below. A skirt is not worn with the expectation that the underwear is free to be viewed.

In any case the Mass gov't identifies that the law needs to be changed but that they can't prosecute him underneath the current wording. It's the reality with a lot of laws, really. They need updating.

So, it's better to break the law's definition of what a judge's job is (interpreting the law) just because it may or may not be morally correct? That's not suggesting we should start on the path to despotism this country tries to avoid by having branches of governments with checks and balances at all, no no.

Please understand- I'm not saying it's right. It's horribly disgusting. I'm appalled this sort of thing can fly. It's an invasion of privacy that should be banned. Heck, the supreme court even said:
"At the core of the Commonwealth's argument to the contrary is the proposition that a woman, and in particular a woman riding on a public trolley, has a reasonable expectation of privacy in not having a stranger secretly take photographs up her skirt. The proposition is eminently reasonable, but (the law) in its current form does not address it."

What I'm saying is that, first, the judges' hands were tied. Even if they found it disgusting (which they did, as indicated by the quote), there's nothing they could have done in regards to make it right at that moment- at least based on the article. Not without overstepping their bounds as judges.

Second, thinking enacting violence "all government workers" is okay because OBVIOUSLY everyone who works for a government that allows a thing agrees with the thing is... it's just wrong.

The judges are not the bad guys here. The government as a whole is not the bad guy here. The creepy guy IS the bad guy, and the Massachusetts legislature needs to take this case into account and make a law to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

Dismissing everyone who works for the Massachusetts government and indeed everyone who lives in Massachusetts as a vile being because of this incident is reactionary and ludicrous. I apologize.

I dunno, someone taking a picture of my underwear doesn't frighten me. Maybe it's just girls.

I understand it's wrong and creepy, but I think "horribly unbearably disgusting" is a little much for something as simple as a piece of fabric on your skin.

You're trying to put reason into something that isn't reasonable. If that isn't defending then I don't know what is.

I'm not saying the judge wasn't doing his or her, likely his, job. I'm saying he's doing it very poorly, he and everyone involved, yes the entire government of Massachusetts, should feel guilty. Taking a personal picture like that without consent is by no means cool, and honestly the justice system in America is flawed if they are going to allow something as vile as that just fly by due to a clause. The fact that the woman who pressed charges practically got told, "lol ur crotch is his now hahahaha good luck with ur life" is disgusting.

@black lion - it isn't just taking a picture of your genitals, it's taking pictures of that area without consent. which is in turn promoting rape culture. rape culture isn't cute.
