drawing has two aspects to it, muscle memory and knowledge, have to know how things work and look like, have to have the muscle skill to crecreate it.

When you color, keep strokes all in one direction or color using a circular motion.

OMM: I wish art was one of those things that you can pick up on, learn and get it right the first time. But it's not. It's more than that. You have to practice to get better, and that's true for any skill anyone wants to have. It sucks, but that's reality.
It's the way the brain is able or incapable of absorbing information. Personally I don't think practice has any real standing compared to the brain ageing. It's just that you will pick up on tips and have to do something in order to create work.
So you're saying that as the brain ages, your drawings will get better? I'm in the process of studying the anatomy of the head. Do you think practicing anatomy drawing(s) would help my art get better?

Speaking of art, I'm about to scan these pictures I drew last Fri. I'll show them to you guys.
I've been drawing my whole life bar about 4 years when I didn't pick up a pencil. Between that time people thought I had improved when I started again.

I really do think it's more to do with the way the brain works rather than the thought it's deserved by practice. I believe it's connected with the hormone levels during the days, what you eat and the times you wake up rather than it being solely genetic. The way the brain is learning and pressured. The way the brain is developing and coping. So they say and have made understanding that we have genes, essentially though I feel apart from life's mystery itself, the brain is second most mysterious and we lack the knowledge of it's purpose and how it thinks. The genes will be controlled by the brain. That everything leads back to the mind, even connected with evolution.
So let me get this straight then, before those 4 years of not drawing, did your drawings look like crap? Or were your drawings really good even before those 4 years?

Yeah. What I'm saying is that I don't think it's the practice itself, but the result of the pressured thinking that ages the brain to more accurately feed correct information.

Jager, did you see those drawings I posted on the last page?

Can you critique them for me:

Spoiler: click to toggle

And DMR, is there anything else that's wrong with the drawings? What do you think LDZ?

When you draw, draw exactly what you see. Not what you think it looks like, but how it actually looks like. That's the key to drawing like a star ;)

:bao: Welcome.

Just keep at it, Crusader, don't worry what others think right now. Just sketch a picture everyday. You won't see any improvements yourself but you will be improving as time goes by.

Do you think between now and 2 years from now I will have improved good enough to put it in a comic book or manga?

after tea and dark souls i will draw

@Crusader: there is too much to say, you lack the knowledge and experience for any critique to be put to use, right now you jsut have to draw lots and build up your mileage and udnerstanding.

Art was always my strongest subject in all my school years. A teacher told my parents (may have just been my Mum) I was 5 years above average.

Personally I believe it's to do with evolution. The genes or more likely mind set being passed to the child (Mum and Dad were both good drawers). Though not because the genetics are all mysterious and complicated, but because the brain is evolving in a certain direction. That you do learn tips and tricks, though not because you deserve it from doing it, but because the brain is pressured with thought and better understanding what it's seeing allowing you to guess more viably.

Anyone can improve and it's definite. And that in my opinion is through the ageing of the brain and the way it channels, categorizing info.
