Game of Thrones
8:00pm-9:00pm
301 HBO2E, Fri 4/04

Series/Special. Alfie Allen, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. (2012) Tyrion plots to gain alliances through the promise of marriage; Catelyn arrives in the Stormlands; Luwin tries to decipher Bran's dreams.

Episode: 13 Original Air Date: 04-15-12

All it says. :nope:
That sounds like a season 1 episode by the description yet I'm sure season 1 only had like 10 episodes.

I think that website is screwed. Try Couch Tuner or Watch Series instead
its season 2, Catelyn doesn't go to the stormlands till season 2, sotrmlands is where renly is, by enfd of season 1 she is still in riverlands.
Yeah I just looked it up, it was the right one sorry.

I remember her travelling in Season 1 too, it threw me off

People getting mad over getting wrong cars or phones is unheard of here.
I've heard of people here getting upset their food isn't made fast enough.
Also unheard of here.

I'm lucky enough to come from a financially stable family. And I always remind myself that I am just that, lucky. I check myself to make sure that I don't let that get to my head, and count my blessings that I do not have to struggle for things that other's do.

Americans, usually Conservative extremists, are extremely classist(judging people on how much money they make). I saw a clip of a Fox News anchor stating that people on welfare, on food stamps, on any government issued service that is made to help individuals keep their head above water, that those people feel they are "entitled" to those things and rely way too much on them.

Wanted to ask her if she ever struggled to pay a bill, to feed a child, to keep a roof over your head, to get a job in this current economy. Bet she couldn't wrap her thick skull around that.

Took too long to type, conversation ended up changing. :bao:

No.
yes it can
there are so many useless scenes in show and completely useless storylines and explanations in the books

author has food fetish and spends half a chapter describing food
its incredibly draggy with about one interesting thingshappening once every other chapter, then next chapter skips interesting things that ahppened between last chapter and current one and goes back to describing food or dicks or tits

draggy

Or it's perhaps it is because America is a cesspool of bigots, and minority oppressors, and then get's called the "Land of the Free". :kemari:

Exactly this.

and the younger generation has this whole "**** the government" attitude these days. It's cool to hate on the country you live in.

I hate my country cause of all the bigots, bullies, and minority oppressors that Swan mentioned  Hey Swan, don't you live in the USA?

Yes u_u I wish there weren't other things, but there are :/

Then what does that make of those countries ranked lower?

Eh, who knows? Maybe it's entailed in the article. I wasn't even really paying attention to that part tbh.

No one is happy here in America. We kill ourselves if we get the wrong color car on our 16th birthday, and we sure as hell piss all over the wonderful things our parents did for us.

Yup, and many teens kill themselves over bullying. Two bad our government doesn't give two shits about their people. They're only interested in their own personal agenda(s), lying to their people, and starting and getting involved in **** that doesn't even concern them.

If I had to choose between living in the here and now in a time and place where the government doesn't give a uck about me, lies to their people, only interested in how much money is in their pocket, gets involved with other countries squabbles and business, starts wars with other countries, etc. over a time where (and this is back during George Washington's time) where my country cringed at the thought of getting involved in other people's business, the government cared about its people, people got along, everyone was happy, etc., I'd probably choose the latter.

Although, if I did have another choice, I'd either choose to live during the Sengoku Period of Japan as Motochika's retainer or during the Three Kingdoms Period as Sima Yi's student. But anyway, what I'm trying to say is, yes Kamikaze-dono, the young do rebel against their government, and if I had a choice I'd support them. I don't think my fellow youngsters rebelling against their government is a deciding factor, major or minor, as to the reason why our country has the lowest rank on the list of least happy youth.

What I think it is, however, is what Swan basically said: bigots and minority oppressors, as well as common bullies, thugs, criminals, corrupt people holding some sort of political office. It is also because, like a quote I read a while back,

Quote:

Here's why the USA is in the situation their in. When you chose Republicans over Democrats because the Democrats were doing dirty things, you, to reiterate, chose the Republicans. When you chose Democrats over Republicans because the Republicans started doing dirty things, you, again, to reiterate, the Democrats.

And when people tried to tell you that both parties were corrupt, you called them crazy.

But the real definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result

And that quote is why I believe that the U.S system is corrupt. It really doesn't matter who we choose as president. Two idiots are the same. If the government started caring more about their people, we might be in the Top 5; probably would've beaten the UK to boot (hope this doesn't offend the British people in this thread ^_^ )

tl;dr: The US isn't in the top 5 because the government doesn't care about its people, and are only interested in power, money, and conquest, in addition to the government lying to its people.

I know. Having started reading the books so far the time scale seems to fit so much better than it does in the show.

I guess in the show they had to decide where they'd begin and end each episode or move things around a bit so some things had dodgy timelapses. That said, they hardly change anything in the show (not so much with characters but with events), it's the exact same story as the book with hardly anything cut out or added in, so it is weird.

@Swan - :goodpost: I agree 100%

what book are you on? you will begin to notice some serious changes by the second book, first season, for the most part, followed the book very closely

Yeah still the first one (I've been reading it VERY slowly, been busy lately haha)

I did hear the show is diverting from the books more though, suppose it will be interesting

Blaming the US government for the citizen's unhappiness is a cop out.

They are a bunch of rich, entitled, pricks in the general sense, but they could be worse. They could be North Korea. That's an effed up gov't.

I agree completely. I grew up not having the best stuff, but I never went hungry, always had a nice warm bed to sleep in and clothes on my back. I sometimes feel that helped make me a better person in the end. Got a stable job, everything I own I worked hard for and earned. I know there are people out there whom are less fortunate and I never try to look down on them because I don't know what circumstances they have that they must deal with on a daily basis.
