There's nothing wrong with Avril's video :unsure: .

Did the over-sensitives come onto the internet again?

It depends on the individual at the end of the day

I am of Maltese descent and if someone were to go film a video dancing in Malta wearing an Ghonnella and some rosary beads I probably wouldn't give a ****. I'd just think "you fool".

The article just had too many conflicting or muddled points for me for me to make heads or tails of it, hence why I'm asking questions.

I'm just trying to find out what this cultural appropriation is, primarily because I am attempting to write a serious novel about Japanese history and I don't want to be part of the oppression of Asians in America by writing it. Like, I'm doing all the research I can here... I literally went to the library and got like three books on Japanese culture, including one about Sengoku-Edo era etiquette and the like and another on Japanese armor and how to wear it properly.

Um, you're not appropriating any culture by doing that D: You're writing about history, based on research. And what culture would Britney be appropriating there?? @_@~

There, just joked about my own background, I have no claim to tell anyone else they can't now.

Hm, alright then...

And I think he's being facetious Selli.
Edit: But a Catholic school outfit is just a modified regular western-style school outfit... >>;

Either I have really thick skin or something, but nothing offends me. I'm in the "get the hell over it" train. And I think it applies to this video. I'm not here to start a fight or anything, but if getting offended by a stupid music video is your biggest problem, then you gotta see the bigger picture.

That being said, I think if a person has a big enough interest, then I don't see the problem in going around dressed in togas/kimonos/saris, etc. Culture is a beautiful thing, and it shouldn't be exclusive

Shut up, Malta is actually kinda cool.

So, if some dumb yankee dresses up like a cowboy and mangles a Texan accent can I claim cultural appropriation? 'Cause we need to stop that bull while we can.
