I can't believe how easy it is to learn Japanese. I've already got down hiragana and katkana and this dialect stuff is a breeze

I would, but it's not like Japan is across the street :( And there isn't anyone in the vicinity that is Japanese

Just saying, anyone can open a book and look up the language and memorize phrases and words. Having a conversation however is entirely different.

Well I've already got the basics of having a conversation with someone who is Japanese down. I'm getting into JP vocab now. I'll cross that road when I get there though.

EDIT: Maybe I can find someone online who is Japanese to talk to :)

Yup. I remember from when I tried to learn Spanish

I got to grips with reading and writing some very basic Spanish. Then when it came to actually hearing people speaking it, I went blank

They speak at 100 miles an hour, I'm surprised they can understand eachother

Doesn't help that Spanish can get pretty different depending on region. I've known Spanish my entire life, and there are still words I've never heard and some words mean different things to different regions.

And Puerto Ricans especially love to make words up

Eh, but I've been studying dialects since I was 11 so I don't think I'll have a problem holding a convo with someone who's Japanese.

EDIT: And I believe I started studying hiragana last October. It wasn't until now that I started getting the hang of memorizing it all

Haha I've heard this stereotype before

What I was learning was probably a very standardised Spanish that any Spanish speaker would understand. Most of the words I learned I've heard both Europeans and Latinos use.

@Eni - All Spanish speakers do. I've never heard a Spanish speaker talk in a really slow pace carefully pronouncing out each word :XD

Yes I did. But see, the thing is that I didn't practice drawing a lot lost year. In fact, I procrastinated with it, which is why it looked like ass. But I do make an effort to try and draw one thing a day.

I can't speak it very well.

I can understand it just fine though. My parents, grandparents, they all speak Spanish to me all the time, quite often and I have zero problems understanding every word they say.

But speaking it, i'm a very slow speaker if I have to...so I never do.

Reading it is easier.

I had a friend in high school, she hated that I never spoke Spanish. She would always only ever speak Spanish to me and I'd always respond in English.

But, there is video of me, like 3 or 4 years old speaking perfect Spanish to my grandparents, which is funny :XD

All British kids speak bad/broken french. It's that subject we have in school that we remember the odd word for because nobody cared enough about it to actually learn it lmao

I just speak English to fluency. My days of learning spanish are long behind me so I only remember the odd word.

I know a little Maltese from le grandfather but that's a stupid, pointless language
