I'm not sure whether or not they have full stops or the same punctuation in Arabic but I had to stop reading that post. I can't do one long sentence going on and on and on for 10 lines. |

Sorry haha And yes your grammar in English is great ![]() Usually I'm not fussy about typos and little mistakes, but rambly sentences is one of my real pet hates that I can't let slide

Well thanks. Sometimes I feel that my English is poor especially while speaking with others face to face. But I can mange myself just fine in reading and writing. Sometime in the future I'll be sure to continue my studies in the US hopefully by then I can communicate with others more fluently.

Unless it was going to be how Chinese sounded in the 3rd century there probably wouldn't be much point. It was probably a totally different language back thenBeing in an English speaking country will help you. It will mean you are in more situations where you have to use English so you will pick it up quicker. Good luck

They could use same dialect of Chinese they used in Red Cliff. In all honesty, porting debates aren't as bad as dubbing ones. |

I just think it's laughable that they wouldn't dub, but oh well I don't really care that much. The costumes bother me more but that's a whole other discussion |

The dialect used back in Ancient China was Mandarin. However the language itself was considered to be Shakespearean. I call it Shakespearean Chinese because that's what it's equivalent to. The words used in Shakespearean Chinese Dialogues are almost impossible to understand for modern Chinese people. It uses Chinese words, just like Shakespeare used English words, but none of us really understand it. We try but sometimes we are pretty off. Sure, it's great for poems and song translation, it's usually more accurate than modern Chinese, however it's very tedious for someone to even translate the dialogue into it. Though it has been used in Red Cliff, the movie was originally Chinese which makes it easier. Actually there are far more Ancient Chinese movies and TV shows than you think. But, if they were translating it from Japanese then I really think it would be harder. Considering some of the dialogue might not translate correctly into Chinese. I remember finding a Shakespearean Chinese version of Frozen's Let it Go. It actually was very accurate in translation and is very close to the English one. |

Exactly, languages shift over time and this is a concept some people who talk about SW being in Japanese being "authentic" don't seem to get. The Sengoku era was happening around the same time Shakespeare was alive, and judging by how much English has changed since Shakespeare I'd assume the same has happened to Japanese too. If you hear Old English that the Saxons spoke when they first settled here ("Old English" is like early Middle Ages, not Shakespeare period, that's Middle English) it sounds like a completely different language. A modern English speaker wouldn't understand a word of it. |

Hum, was it really Mandarin? I thought Mandarin had its roots in Ming, which was long after the Three Kingdoms. Fascinating indeed.

It's what traditional Chinese usually spoke. We just call it mandarin. I just call it mandarin, sure, I doubt that it was actually mandarin but how would we know what they actually spoke back then. We probably can't put a specific name to it as all the words used in writing is what all Chinese people read these days. EDIT: or no one actually told me the specific name of the languages they spoke during the 3K era. Actually no one really told me that there was a different sounding Chinese dialect before Mandarin was actually called Mandarin. Edited by Kuran, Wed Jun 4, 2014 10:56 am.

Oooh, got it then! Thank you! >Chin threatens people with violence Because violence is always the answer. Because clearly everyone has the money to travel to London for a video game expo. Because clearly the entire Musou western fanbase is in the UK. I really am concerned about Chin saying such thoughtlessly brutish things. Is this really our community representative? I could let the whole masturbation thing slide, but THIS? |

Chin just has that "1 vs. 1000" mentality it seems. It's ironic considering how "violent" Koei games can be. |

Are you sure Chin isn't just joking? I believe that he wouldn't say such a thing unless it's supposed to be perceived as a joke. OMM: I learned when Cantonese was invented. I knew it hasn't been around for that long. |

Mmmn, I guess so, it just seems like people talk about him like he's such a nice guy and then he says he wants to punch people. I just... I guess I'd have to have been here when he was around? It's most likely a joke, because I joke around punching a person if they insulted themselves. I usually don't do it. It's only meant to convey that I don't like people putting themselves down. OMM: I finally fixed my blinds and now hopefully the sun doesn't get into my eyes. Or just shine into my room in general. |

I just don't mind because I like the Japanesse language and I like listening to it ^^ It's definitely closer to the way people in the Sengoku era actually sounded like than English, but also definitely not authentic at all XD |

I always get frustrated when reading Chin comments. I don't know him personally but from his tweets I feel he's doing harm than good to the fans and the company. Edit: Even if it's a joke he represents the company. He needs to be more professional. Edited by MĀJĒD, Wed Jun 4, 2014 11:11 am.
