Do you guys not get choices in school?

Math was mandatory for me, but generally speaking got to pick most
Senior year is the only year where I got to "pick" my classes sadly. Guidance counselor kept putting me in most of the advanced courses despite me not signing up for them.

More edits: now it's English/History/PE 4 years, Math/Science 3 years, Foreign Language up through level 3, Health 1 year. At least for me those were the minimum requirements

What they should do is have you take classes depending on what you want to be after you leave school
You do that in college

Anything before then is considered basic, general knowledge.

Its not common for 5th graders to know what the hell they want to be in 10+ years :XD
Except for me. I always knew I wanted to be your adopted daughter

That's pretty much how it went :D

There are some topics in advanced math that are pretty useless in everyday life, but the same could be said for lots of other subjects too.

Better to have it and not need it, then to end up with a job where you do need it but don't know it at all :mori:

We had Core 40 here. So many credits had to be earned in each subject, plus taking the GQE.

The saving graces I really have from getting forced ahead are free college credits and ability to intern at the nanotech center in Albany :kurokan: And be in a program there, but that limits my electives severely.

It doesn't work like that, Crusader. School systems have requirements their students have to fulfill.
If you say so

We got to pick a wee bit for last 4 years of school, then plenty in final 2
With a few mandatory until the final year.

S3 and S4 had to pick one creative one (art, music, home ec or drama), one science, one...I dunno what to call them (History, Geograpy or something else I can't remember) and one IT one (forget how those were split up also, Multimedia, Computing and something else) had to have English, Math, French, PE, RE and PSE, and one of your choice which could overlap from the categories so not much of a choice with those, but S5 only had English and Math mandatory, and then S6 could be whatever :asia:

The only real classes I got to choose were which sciences I took as side credit(didn't count toward the graduation requirement) and which art class I got to take.(had to drop graphic arts for two years due to scheduling problems)
