Eni or anyone else here who enjoyed DW6, what are your thoughts on the Renbu system? I'm thinking about giving DW6E another shot, so I wanna know what you guys think of it.

DW6:E, Kami. Swimming actually aided sneak attacks.

I never used sneak attacks. Swimming was just tedious. Im glad its gone.

As for Renbu, it would've been better if they accommodated it better and had more attacks instead of just two strings of the same attacks.

The maps were so big and troops only ever stayed in the bases, the troops needed to roam around so that you had a constant string of enemies to keep your combo counter going so you didnt loose Renbu. And farming good enough horses with Renbu Gait was tedious.

DW6E didn't have renbu, they removed it

And personally I thought it was a good idea that just didn't turn out well in-game. It had potential, they should have stuck to their guns and worked on it rather than just scrapping it.

DW6E was way more fun because I didn't lose my entire moveset trying to get to the next base.

in the fairy tale world, Snow White has longer hair

As for the swimming in DW6, or any DW for that matter, stupid and pointless.

I hated leveling horses. Or rather, I hated that they were random cause I never did get Red Hare in DW6.
All you had to do was reset the clock on your triple

True yes, that was what bothered me about renbu, how fast it went down

I didn't care about how good my horse was, I just wanted renbu gait lmao

What is the Renbu system anyway. I never quite understood the concept of it, but I could understand enough of the Renbu system to see that the SW team took inspiration from it, but I could never understand the overall concept of Renbu. Could someone explain it to me?

I hate feeling slow...so I always want a fast horse.

DW7 had that Walking Speed Up skill for your weapons and I would slap one on each weapon and never even needed a horse. DW8 didnt have that...and it was painful until I finally got a good horse.

6 also had those awesome motion-captured animations. Every move had weight and momentum behind it, especially running.

Yeah I miss that too

Even the movesets from 6 that survived into 7 got chopped up and reanimated without mocap so they don't feel the same now. The whip felt so fluid and fun in 6 but was horrible and choppy in 7. It's slightly better in 8.

I still dont see what in SW resembles renbu

Renbu was an infinite attack string, it had four levels. 1, 2, 3, then Infinite. All it did was increase the number of attacks, and it would loop so you could just keep attacking non stop. Triangle was its own string of charge attacks. The meter increased as you attacked, and you had to keep your combo counter going to keep your attacks. Too long without attacking anyone the meter would slowly drain and you'd lose your attacks and eventually have to start over.

Again, it would've been fine if 1. There were more than just mash square for an infinitely repetitive loop of normal attacks and triangle for a not so infinite string of charge attacks. 2. More enemies roaming around so you can keep your combo count going.

DW6E changed it so once you maxed renbu it stayed forever.

There definitely weren't enough enemies in those giant stages for Renbu to stay up, but 6 fixed that. I like the idea that continuous fighting escalates the battle and make more wild attacks available, but it could be done differently so that instead of just giving you more attacks, it makes all your attacks more flashy and powerful as your gauge builds

Roan Wave only horse I used in DW6. Kept Renbu from depleting.

Yeah, there were so many ways to improve Renbu, and I was actually fine with the way the attacks were, to be honest. Just drop the clones and give everyone a unique weapon and add in more accommodations to keep Renbu more consistently going and it would've been an awesome game.

I miss those grapples too, they were fun. Even though I always had trouble actually connecting them...

Charge dashes too, i liked those.

How do you fill up the Renbu, and also those other attacks you can do with Renbu you mentioned in the DW8E topic (I'm going to quote what you said so that no one has to be arsed to go to the thread and check):

Quote:

That's the problem right there. You WEREN'T limited to one move, it's just that Musou players don't know how to use anything that isn't square square triangle.

There was a ton of versatility. Two different grapples, dodges, counters, running attacks, running charges, hold charges, tomes, etc.

But so many players just couldn't wrap their heads around using a different button or a different situation to do something that all they ever did was mash square, and then complained that the game only had one attack.

6 actually had moves that a real action game should have. Unfortunately it seemed the musou fanbase never played a real action game.

For the grapples, hold Guard and press either S or T when near or when an enemy attacks you
