Quoting limited to 5 levels deep
Even if I did, I severely lack in some of the various things required for reviewing media on that kind of scale.

A (real) video camera and video editing skills, for starters.

So far all I do is review movies on my blog in my sig, and while those are text reviews and I'm satisfied with what I type, it's no different than what I regular do on the Internet.
But you'll be getting payed while doing what you normally do. :listen: Then you can do the video reviews.
I understand that, it's just "getting" there that gives me pause and uncertainty.

I do text reviews of movies. I have some ideas in the pipeline of doing more text reviews of other forms of media and whatnot. I have so many things I can say on the things I like, like "Why I love animation" or "Why voice acting is an under-appreciated art". That vlog of Guardians of the Galaxy I plan to do will be something new for me, so I'm excited for that.

But how can I get to that point where it'll eventually be something I do for the rest of my life without making it look like I live in my parents' basement?

And, again, that stigma of "GET A REAL JOB!" that people scoff at for those who are Internet celebs.
Think of it as a side gig while having a regular job. If you get to the point where you can support yourself through reviewing only then you can make it your full time job.
I suppose...it's just that I don't have a regular job right now per se. I have a Masters Degree but I'm going to China for a one year stay for cultural immersion and learning the language. Hard to say what I can do for my hobby there.

Not to mention, my Master's Degree? International Studies. People will undoubtedly force me onto the path of International Diplomacy and politics and whatnot.

And needless to say, with all the crap happening in the world right now? I AM EXTREMELY JADED AND PISSED OFF. Now you might be asking "Why did I even take it?" Well when I did take it I thought I could make a difference. But as it stands right now I don't even know what kind of difference one could make in world affairs right now.

Maybe eventually I'll warm up to that being my regular job, but right now I'm just extremely depressed and going through what one may call a "quarter-life" crisis.

Xal, why are you so worried about what people on the internet think of you? If you have a dream of professionally reviewing movies, then go ahead and chase that dream. Don't worry about what people on the internet think of you. It's not like people on the net know you well enough to make such dumbass claims, right? Don't worry Xal, it'll be fine ^_^
If you don't like being in China, then leave, unless it'll get in the way of you graduating, then by all means stay there, but just do what you can to get to your goal, alright :) ?

Tales games are really nice, too.
Xillia is so fun!

Hype for Xillia 2 next month. :asia:
One of best series I've seen in a while.

So many Tales on PS3 now. Xillia 2 is coming. But i missed Square Enix's old JRPG's. PS2 generation has the best JRPG's ever.

Abyss was on 3DS, Symphonia was on Wii, and Vesperia was on 360 as well.

Oh I'm not worried about what people on the Internet think of me.

Real life? That's a different story. Let me put it this way. My massively extended family is in a multitude of career paths: businessmen, company presidents, TV host, actress, office directors, doctors, lawyers, soon-to-be ambassadors, etc.

Where I eventually want to go will be something completely different and still taboo by today's standards. I would very much like to be a professional Internet reviewer with my own show or the like. But getting there...I'm honestly afraid.

As for China, it's already set that I'm going there. Not that I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm not sure how I can keep up my hobby there.

Square Enix still doing great job on 3DS such as Bravely Default. They should remake that game on consoles better.

:asia: The guys who did Bioshock were doctors who quit to make video games, let that sink in.

You could look for a place that can give you a chance to review stuff. Might help you learn chinese too. It's all how you use what you are given. Just don't over think it or use that time to really think things through.

Toon Link is just normal kid Link with more expressiveness. :U
I still think the humanoid villains who aren't unique to HW will end up playable at least in free mode.
