Battles against Yuan's kids have been in DW before. DW8 has one, and DW7XL had one as well.

Cao Pi is at Guandu because they need him and Zhenji to interact for the first time. That's really it.

That too.

Also, it introduces him rather early, establishing him as the successor of Wei...even though he kinda go ignored immediately after Guandu, anyway...
Well, not really. He sort of serves a background role at Chibi and Fancheng. He's even in some cutscences too.

All this talk about the current situation in the world of DW makes me wish that the DW team just stuck to their guns and tried to improve the game with what they had with DW6. Instead, we got what we have now, and we all now who's to blame for that <_<

They've been in the game, but they aren't done very well. They don't really explain the story well and usually Zhen Ji is captured at Guandu and not later.

What they should do is add:

Liyang: Yuan Tan and Shang team up against Cao Cao and beat him.

Ye: Yuan Shang beats Yuan Tan and almost destroys him, but Tan makes an alliance with Cao Cao. Cao Cao's forces combined with Yuan Tan take Ye. Cao Cao later turns on Tan and destroys him. Zhen Ji and Lady Liu are captured by Cao Pi.

White Wolf Mountain: Last stand of the Yuans and their Wuhuan allies.

Additionally, they should add Yuan Shang, at the very minimal, to rep the Yuans in all three battles.

Unless Zhen got knocked up immediately after marrying Pi, I ain't buying it. Though Yuan Xi wasn't with Zhen then. Hmm...

It's Zhao Yun's kid

Yeah, that's a little too out of the way for the current story structure.

I've always wanted DW to do what WO3 did and have the main story line and several off shoots focusing on battles and gaiden scenarios that influence the main story but don't need to strictly be apart of it

like these Yuan battles and even the Nanman and some Shanyue battles for Wu, etc.

Guandu will never be right until Wen Chou is no longer slain by Guan Yu. Never happened.

Not to mention some of the Yuan sons stages had wrong son as mediator. I recall one had Yuan Tan as mediator. Usually it is Yuan Xi.

That works.

I wouldn't want the battles against Yuan Shao's successors to be added unless Yuan Shao's successors themselves are added anyways. I'd rather they add them than Yan Liang and Wen Chou, both of whom did absolutely nothing (even though I like their Blast designs).

Early Wei doesn't need anyone, that's all covered. Late Wei, Cao Pi's reign to Cao Rui is needed. It needs a smoother transition into Jin instead of wtfsudden20yearjump

Wei had the best story in DW7 because it was so concise, and it was one of the better ones in DW8 as well, imo.
