Panch first, ask questions while panching.

Such a annoying champion to fight against if you're the ADC.

For me, the games that had a tolerable grind were/are:

  1. SW4
  2. WO2
  3. WO1
  4. SW2
  5. SW3
  6. DW5 (debatable)
Genuinely surprised WO2 ranks so highly on your list there. I always felt WO2 had one of the worst grinds for the proficiency grinding alone :kurokan:

First WO was pretty nice and grind-free, only unique challenge being the Personal Items :asia:

WO2 kinda started the downhill trend towards becoming a total grindfest, which is why WO3 was pretty bad due to the Big-Star weapon compatibility grinding, level grinding for all 140+ characters, weapon farming for 140+, etc.
When you have to grind to finish a game, it's fine, but what's not fine is having to grind just to finish the game when the game has 0 replay value, case in point WO3/H/U, DW8, and DW7

I didn't even bother grinding Proficiency except for those Dream Mode stages. Dream Mode, the jewels, among other things is what made me kept playing WO2. Most importantly however, what made me keep coming back to WO2 is replay value. Koei should take notes on what they did with WO2 and implement that same replay value in their future games. The DW team should also take notes from what the SW Team is doing and try to implement that replay value.

Perhaps that would help DW return to its former glory, because right now SW is the hare and DW is the old, raggedy tortoise :asia:

Most of the WO2 grinding was just to unlock a mediocre Dream Stage, and eventually, Orochi X.

Other than that, there were no tangible rewards for maxing out one's proficiency. It supposedly made your R1 specials better, but the difference was negligible, IMO.

At least in WO3, you could tell that your attacks were stronger once your weapon proficiency was maxed out. They got that part right, but making you grind 54 levels to achieve that is cruel :kurokan:

Hoping the rare Unlimited Mode loot is worth grinding for since vanilla WO3 is getting a bit stale lately :asia:

Over half my character roster is sitting at somewhere between levels 30-40

WO2 Dream Stages were a gr8. I played them all the time :mori:

The proficiency griding was deffo worth it imo. The grinding in WO3, DW8, DW8XL, WO3H, Ultimate, and DW7 was just awful, especially since the game had little to no replay value

I like SW4 better than any other Musou game I've played as of late because SW4 has brought something new to the table other than mashing square and then triangle, along with circle and R1 here and there too :asia:

The story in SW4 is also better. I've always found DW's story even in DW4 to the current DW game(s) we have now to be a bit stale. It's bad enough that the gameplay and overall feel of the game is incredibly repetitive, but now they're implementing that on the already repetitive story.

Tbf, it's not DW's story I think is stale. It's honestly the fact that the DW team is so repetitive with the gameplay and overall feel of their games. It's always the same old **** with DW gameplay wise and feel wise, and it's really, really, really tired.

The SW team however always tries to change it up story wise and feel wise and I really appreciate that, and that's probably why I prefer SW over DW.

I said this the other night, but I'll say it again since this topic is hot here. The reason why I dropped DW and the WO3 saga games in favor of SW is because the SW team is okay with experimenting, going outside of their comfort zones, and going beyond their limitations. The DW team is a different story, and the difference between both games really shows.

That's not bad compared to grinding to get an item with a .3% drop rate.

Wo3 is a lot less grindy for levelling characters and getting weapons if you know what you're doing, takes 15 minutes to get a character to level 100 in wo3u. Getting items in wo3 is no different to finding rare weapons which to me isn't grindy, the common ones like +20 attack are easy to find, maybe you're unlucky

It's not really that I find grindy. In fact, to be fair, there really isn't any grinding needed for WO3 (vanilla version). That's why I dislike it. Because it's too easy. There's no replay value in that game at all because there's no grinding involved. Grinding for cool items and shite like special weapons for example is something I really enjoyed doing. WO3 didn't have that. It'd be one thing if they didn't take the lazy route and just give you some mediocre mode where you can modify stages that hardly modifies much of anything at all but instead made WO3 WO3U, not these dumbass spinoffs :xiao:

Couple that with the piss easy difficulty, and you've got an incredibly boring game with 0 replay value.

Even in WO3U with Ultimate Mode and the Mystic Weapons, the story is still disappointing and detracts from the overall replay value. No immersion in WO3U's story at all tbh ;asia:
