I didn't like any of DW8's stories, except for maybe Wei's. After playing SW4 and seeing how the story unfolds in SW4, I don't think I'll ever go back to DW. Cool movesets and hawties aren't enough reason to give DW a chance anymore ┐('~`;)┌" And come to think of it, I didn't really like the older DW games anyway, so DW can take a flying leap straight into the sewer.

I don't think I conveyed my point well. I more meant that she has a definite, concrete role. It's at the cost of Zhou Tai but eh. And ty for the help in explaining Kami. |

DW7 Wei story was fantastic, precisely because it was very focused and didn't span too long. It had Xiahou Dun and ended with the end of a rivalry that was formed super early on. As opposed to Shu and Wu, who went through several main characters and then tried to tie it all together in an ending. Jin was awesome in DW7. That ending alone, one of the best cutscenes in all of Warriordom |

DW7 was gr8, DW8 was gr8 too. Then I finished the game and got all the special weapons. Then the game became dead to me. Funny how that works. Lmfao. |

Zhou Tai has never and never will be Sun Quan's emotional support. Lianshi took an open role. |

I'll try, but I don't know how well I can do it. All I really do is use brushes that I downloaded from different places, deviantART has some good ones, then once I get the right blends of brushes, I merge the imagines together and mess with the colors section, between tools and lay. In there I use the curves and levels, it takes a while to figure out the right blends, but I've been doing this for several years and I'm still learning ![]() Other things you could do is duplicating the sig and using different modes, such burn or addition, but you have to be careful with those because you don't want a really bright sig. you can use opacity to fix that usually. I don't know how well you know gimp, because I'm still trying to figure it out ![]() OT: I've finally got the deadpool render done how I got to make the sig for it

It became the focus because it is the crux of my opinion. My opinion is that Sima Zhao in DW8 was mediocre. I base this opinion off of relativity. Sima Zhao in DW8 was mediocre relative to Sima Zhao in DW7, in my opinion. I'll admit that there are lots of things I still like about Sima Zhao. However, I dislike many aspects of his DW8 personality in comparison to DW7: 1.) I dislike how he is pinned for a lot of Jin's problems 2.) I dislike how Jia Chong lectures him all the time and ultimately Sima Zhao doesn't learn from these lectures. Instead, Jia Chong just keeps babbying him and decides to do the dirty work for Sima Zhao. By contrast, Sima Zhao learned from his mistakes in DW7 and manned up. 3.) By the end of DW7, Sima Zhao felt resolved. By the end of DW8, Sima Zhao is questioning where he went wrong. I really hated Sima Zhao's DW8 ending. Not only did I dislike it relative to DW7, but I just disliked it in general. His historical ending in DW8 is him walking through a street confused. What kind of resolution is that? 4.) I dislike how DW8's Sima Zhao is always in the shadow of his brother. With everything. Liu Shan was a lot better in DW7 as well. DW7's Liu Shan had proper screentime and focus. In Dw7, they also developed a personal relationship based on mutually held beliefs between Liu Shan and Sima Zhao. This only barely exists in DW8. It is much better conveyed in DW7. Ehhh... Really? I was told otherwise by several people. Now I'm suspicious... I'm just going to admit now, as I believe I have in the past, that I have not played a single DW before 6Empires. First Musou game was WO2. @Jager: Lianshi isn't subversive at all though, nor do I see Yuanji as such. ![]() And yeah 7XL Liu Shan is the best. Great guy. |

He was the quiet bodyguard type. He was literally only there in the physical sense, protecting him from weapons and all that jazz. Sun Quan wasn't nearly as.... helpless emotionally as he's been in the last two games. Can't really be there for emotional support when you say 10 words at the most. |

quan was a bigger emotional mess in DW series and WO series before his new persona, i suppose once again, i cant speak for 7, but in 8, all he ahd was some forced insecurity, while before he also had a lot of indecisiveness and took morality and his family's aspirations into account, zhou tai did indeed lend him emotional support in these regards W3 and WO1 especially and you CAN be supportive while not saiyng anything, sometimes just being there for someone is all the support they need even then, tai still says what quan needed to be said to him, dont get me wrong, it was never amazing or even well wirtten, but to say he didnt do it or COULDNT do it is blatantly false |

I'm not saying your opinion is wrong either. Opinions can be wrong, but not on completely subjective topics such as this. Whether Sima Zhao is great in DW8 or not is purely a matter of opinion and can never be objectively settled. However, I believe that I can still lay forth reasons why I hold my opinion on why he's not so great. I believe Sima Zhao to be mediocre in DW8. I base this opinion on a belief that he was far superior in DW7. The DW8 Sima Zhao is mediocre vis-a-vis the DW7 Sima Zhao, in my opinion. This is because the DW7 Sima Zhao has a much better plot resolution and better character development. I felt that DW8 Sima Zhao didn't have very good character development and also had a piss poor resolution. DW8's Battle of Chengdu felt like a meaningless slaughter. Rather than Sima Zhao participating to accomplish some goal, it felt like Sima Zhao was trying to figure out his goal while he was participating. Sima Zhao's ending also felt meaningless. It felt like he just lamented his brother's death and was confused about where to go. The game also heavily implies that if Sima Shi hadn't died, things would have been a lot better. This gives no credit to Sima Zhao or his role in uniting the land. It barely gives any credit to Liu Shan for making the ultimate sacrifice to ensure peace. DW7's ending with Sima Zhao and Liu Shan at a banquet was touching and emotional. It was based upon a scene from history and from the novel, but heavily embellished by Koei in order to make Liu Shan a much more sympathetic figure. The game ultimately imparts a deep message: people should not live for the dead or the morals of the past. They should live for themselves. Where was DW8's deep message? It was just Sima Zhao walking down a street...confused. Edited by Rance, Sat Aug 23, 2014 5:00 am.

Oh you meant for the story's sake, not Quan's sake. Well, again, DW7 was my first DW game with an actual story so that might very well contribute to why I'm able to like her so much and appreciate Wu's story. I really can't argue if her role makes Wu's story worse than in 3-6. @Ae: Gotcha then. Yeah, now I'm thoroughly convinced the people who claimed she supplanted Zhou Tai are just mad that Zhou Tai has a romantic ship rival. I had my suspicions before but that just... yeah. @Eni: "seeking or intended to subvert an established system or institution" |

I wish I could have a basement. Can't have those where I live... below sea level, and what not. But yeah, I'm done with having long and drawn out debates and arguments on the internet these days. I like Wu because I always liked Wu from DW3, and that's that. Someone else doesn't like it? Okay, cool, they got reasons and I'm sure they're justified. They don't like what I like? Join the club- I'm sure they sell t-shirts. I've been on the internet since 1997, I'm done with long winded arguments. |
