I have a separate PS3 for every game I play because I like every game to be TRULY console exclusive. |

PCs are super expensive and never really go down in cost like consoles can/do though. And to buy a proper gaming PC you have to either be willing to Lego together a PC (I have not enough confidence for this) or buy a 2000 dollar thing that could be a paperweight if you're not careful. I certainly appreciate the ideal of PCs though, I just wish there was a cheap, dummy-proof way of getting one like with consoles. |

I prefer pc versions of games due to having next to no restrictions on editing/modding, you can make the game how you want if you're willing to learn how to do it. |

I put together a PC for 800 bucks that can play any game at max settings. But it's also great for my artwork and music, and overall a better investment than a console. Plus I don't have to drop 4-500 bucks every few years to upgrade like console owners do. A hundred + dollars on a new graphics card and I'm set for the foreseeable future. Not to mention the new consoles are just DRM-restricted, underpowered PCs anyway. They literally use off-the-shelf PC components in a custom case. |

PCs are great but I just don't really have the energy to learn how to build one. To get a PC desktop would be super expensive for me and I don't have the space to put one. I also kind of need a laptop for school and other places. My old laptop was surprisingly pretty great for running games. My new one is ok. It does the job well enough for me because I don't care about running Crysis 2 at max settings or anything like that. I'm simple and just like to play a few lower end strategy games, emulate the occasional game or play some older games. I just don't really play many games on PC. I tend to use the computer more for just web browsing.

This. Sometimes I wonder if desktop computer and PC may be different, and I see them as one and the same. |

Mmn, thing is that the consoles I'm interested in tend to space themselves well enough in terms of games coming out that I want. Got PS3 in 2008, not planning on getting PS4 until KH3 comes out which probably won't be until like 2018 maybe? WiiU finally has a big enough library for me to justify the purchase now, and that's about 8 years after I got my Wii. So like, I'd probably have to get a new computer at the same rate in all honesty, given my experience with laptops and guessing desktops have maybe about twice the staying power. ... or maybe I'm just having buyer's remorse of sorts due to getting a ****y Alienware. I was so gullible... |

Awww, Alienware is such a ripoff, I feel for you. Desktops have amazing staying power if you get good parts right off the bat (meaning more power than you think you'll need) The main things that need to be upgraded are RAM and graphics cards. Everything else is once in a decade, like processor, motherboard, etc. It just takes a bit of effort and research to find out what parts fit together and have good synergy. Building computers is like a game all itself. Buying a premade one is not a good idea if you want to play games, because they never have big enough cases for higher end parts. You'll want to go to Newegg or somewhere and order all the parts you need separately, then put them together yourself. This also makes it a lot cheaper than buying one of comparable power premade. Like, you buy the parts separately and assemble it yourself. I don't have much experience in doing so, but I hear some goods shops are Newegg and TigerDirect. It takes a little bit of learning, but you ultimately will get the computer that best fits your needs (you picked out the parts). Alienware is a ripoff; you're paying hundreds of dollars for LED lights. |
