I live in Alberta and I'm Chinese. I am usually kept up occasionally with Hong Kong or China news. Korea is a secondary thing. I particularly like to stay away from Politics really. Sometimes depending on the subject i have pretty strong opinions. I really wished Jack Layton won back then to be honest. I really liked that guy. He was an awesome person to run the country. I was probably only 14 back then and I lacked the understandings of politics but I did like his platform and his character. I probably have to agree with you as much as I dislike Conservatives. Because I can tell that NDP isn't gonna be up to Layton's level and Liberals hasn't been all that great lately. I think I dislike conservatives because Alison Redford basically fk'd the province over with her spendings using taxpayer's money. Also the Premier election was basically rigged. I mean currently Jim Prientence (i honestly can't spell his last name) He's trying to fix it all but it seems he's kinda lost on how to fix it properly. Holy crap it's election I'm old enough to vote.

^ You live in Alberta? Good god LOL the most conservative part of the nation. Good luck eh? ![]() I'm from Vancouver, BC, as you could kinda tell by my previous post on the traffic LOL. I currently live in Hong Kong though. Huh, isn't that the PROVINCIAL conservative party (of Alberta and Alberta only) rather than the Federal one? They are different, it would not be wise to mix them up. ![]() Oh, hehe I was faked out by all the Hangul you have in your sig and your avatar LOL. ![]() Jack Layton: A very charismatic guy, a platform that does appeal to a lot of young people, etc... however, in the end the NDP were never going to beat the Conservatives. The problem with the NDP is that for all their good intentions, their policies will have a heavy effect on the economy (better welfare right? Where's that money coming from? Oh right, higher taxes! ). Of course, some nations with a small population and small land area (Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway) can live with that. Canada though? Its just too connected to the USA, love it or hate it its just a plain fact. The Liberals under Ignatieff were floundering, the conservatives were the only choice really in 2011. Too bad Layton passed away though, he could've been a MUCH more effective opposition than Trudeau, who's just living off his dad's name.In BC, our province, the provincial NDP (not the federal.. they're different!) wrecked our provincial finances by throwing money at the unions and building ferries costing almost billions of dollars while they were slower than the old ones! WTF? Yep. Its almost the direct opposite of Alberta LOL. Also, BC is the MOST left-leaning province, in that it elected that NDP to power in the first place. I'll give it that the NDP is a lot better at human rights and environmental issues. Yet again, where will that money come from? ![]() Ok, enough serious political talk about Canada. Here! ![]() ![]() @ Katatonia

Technically Alberta is already so conservative that I believe only Conservatives rule this province. Which is true. Harper is from Calgary. I almost can't tell the difference because people around here are like, "WHOO HARPER!" So it's like I feel they're just connected. What's a liberal like me doing in Edmonton? i personally just don't really like Conservatives in general honestly.Oh man...I wanna be you right now. I wanna be in HK. OTL lol Sadly I can't really write any form of Chinese. I can only speak canto which helps. I know how to write hangul because it was easy to learn. ![]() I agree with your views though. It seems like sometimes people who are so for workers, welfare and good of the people, they actually make it a bit worse. Isn't Vancouver the most expensive place to live in? I guess i know why now. It sounds like they aren't that great with their Taxpayer's money. Oil is going down right now in Alberta. They're making tax cuts to education which is probably the stupidest cut ever to be made. I feel a recession coming on right now in this province due to Prientice's choices to help fix what Redford did. (Hey BC is on the far left of Canada haha) EDIT: You forgot about the Beavers and Maple leafs and maple syrup and the Queen! Edited by Kuran, Tue Mar 24, 2015 8:48 am.

^ Sigh, yes Vancouver is pretty expensive, and will get more so. Its still beautiful, clean and nice (except for East Hastings LOL) but it just costs way too much now. I dunno. I can see both good and bad in all political parties. I guess you have to live with the choice you make. HK's housing prices are ridiculous, but its far easier to find a job and transport, food etc are a relative cinch compared to Canada. However, I don't really like the climate here, and the POLITICAL climate in Hong Kong is FAR, FAR WORSE than in Canada. (I will not get into that now) You're from Edmonton? ![]() ![]() I know they were insanely awesome in the 1980s, but dude man Kevin Lowe has run that franchise so deep into the oilsands I don't know how they will recover.... ![]() ![]() I have NOT forgotten Maple Leafs!

I heard that from everyone. They say Vancouver is expensive. You guys haven night markets though so that's a plus. ![]() Don't get me started with HK's Politics. However everything else I kinda like. Maybe not the High Gravity feeling of the humdity. But I don't mind that because it's so fast there. I like the speed. And the food. God I want that street food. Like Curry Fishballs. I have family in Kowloon that has gov't housing basically. It's better than some of my other relatives living on HK Island. I don't watch Hockey much really. (so uncanadian of me) But oh god...do not get me started on how much the Oilers suck. My brother still roots for them. I don't get why...They were great when they have Gretzky then...uh...not sure what happened...they just started to suck. ![]() EDIT: Oh god and the Maple Leafs

I personally think that Harper won in previous elections moreso because of the division of his opponents. He won the last time with like something in the 30% as far as votes. That means more people were against him than for him, but the problem is that the against votes were clustered around multiple (two) candidates. I personally view his continued success as reminiscent of what happened when Woodrow Wilson ran for President. It's not so much that he's popular as his opposition is divided. |
