Then why are current gaming demographics about 50-50?
Or why all of my friends play video games and most of them are girls?

If there were so few women playing and buying games I don't think I'd know even one girl who did.

its not that they aren't playing games, its that they aren't playing the SAME games. Yes the demographics, in general, are just about equal. For the most part. There are far more women playing games then most people think.

Also, I don't have a single female friend, in real life, who plays video games. Since we're sharing life experiences. Bunch of online ones, but those don't count because I met them in places where I'd expect people, male or female, to share my interests in the first place.

The problem with the argument "it isn't the same demographic" is that it's just not true. For instance, the Warriors and Sengoku BASARA series are even remotely profitable (at least in Japan) because of female video game players with an active interest in history. Then the prevalence of fanworks targeted at females and made by females in series with attractive men tells a very different story than "oh no, it's mostly men who play this type of game".

Unless someone can show me actual, modern (past 3~ years) statistics I refuse to believe that games like Final Fantasy don't have a very real female playerbase which could stand to expand if Square wasn't afraid of either also giving them fanservice or listening to their concerns about designs as they did with male gamers.

God dammit this is why I was vague I didn't WANT to have this goddamn argument again.
IRL and internet are intrinsically linked at this point tbh... Unless like you count 4chan.

I'm sure a ton of women play Final Fantasy. Compare that to the dudebroiest of frat boy games, Call of Duty, where you won't find as many. I'm sure in large part thanks to just how toxic that whole online environment is to women, and in general, but still.

I'd legit love this movie. Bambi was my jam when I was a kid.

Even though there's likely truth to there being more girls playing than the polls says or the word of mouth says, it was once way before always a boy thing to play games compared to girls. I myself would question that 50-50 in disbelief.

Gaming is a luxury and that's not needed in life. Men in general have higher salaries, could be businessmen, government officials who control the money, taxpayers who become involved with industries, so it's important that they're targeted to make as much profit as possible without letting other countries grab too much.

It was one issue of Margaret Thatcher fighting for women's rights who didn't support feminists. Also a feminism goal of today is to fight for higher salary for women. Here in the UK I remember listening to the news that men were putting aside money still for gaming, as it was one of the few still doing well making money during the recession.

Oh I definitey doubt games like Call of Duty or Gears of War or Halo have a lot of female players because of the hostile, toxic (not just towards women, towards other men too) environment.

lmfao I've never seen that trailer before. Funniest thing from SNL I've seen in a while.

This site has charts and stuff. I didn't read it though.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/10/17/more-women-play-video-games-than-boys-and-other-surprising-facts-lost-in-the-mess-of-gamergate/

I figured WoW would have more women.

I actually am inclined to think Gears of Wars has a pretty hefty female player base. I don't know why as that game is manly as balls, but it just seems...I dont know...endearing about it.

Also Gears online, in my experience, might as well be a child's playground compared to CoD. People in that game are generally good folk, probably because you can play the campaign online which is cooperative.

Oh, really? I guess I must have misjudged it based on the game's HYPER MACHO ness. But I guess that being so hyper macho might lead to chill people playing it for laughs, so hm, interesting.

I played with Sakura in Gears once, she called me a girly noob cause I chose Anya. She made me cry and I cancelled Xbox Live and bought a PS3.

No one can complain about the sexy Bravely Default costume for Edea when the Wakoku Warrior outfit for Ringabell exists.
