If you have 6 days for a battle then use most of them up to take castles and such. That way you can stock up on gold, skill points, and other important things. Just running through missions will make your character weaker in the long run. My character's level was around 18 during one battle against CPUs that were lvl 27. I nearly died every time. |

Jsun is right, try to get as many points as you can during a long battle ^^ Normally the Barkeep will explain you everything for contrats (difficulty level, mini quests...). During battle, choose units in function of their advantages & inconvenients, if you can, it can help. Also, don't forget to upgrade your units with the books, and hope everything should be fine. Well, then, it's when you're playing the game, just feel free to ask us anything if you got problems in Bladestorm :3 Have fun playing it

Like they said: Take your time. Don't be afraid to try new units. Upgrade the learning/research/whatever skill first, it makes you get more exp per level. This does mean your first several levels will be spent on getting more, but when its capped the rest of your levels for that unit will have much bigger benefit. And Halberds>Anything, if you use em right... |

If the missions are pretty much straightforward, and you have a few days in which to complete it, take a few days off the actual mission to train units and aquire quite a bit of gold by taking over some of the smaller villages, and only once you start to get units with levels of around 5-10, or you have a good type advantage, should you go for the bigger castles. Ok...one thing not to do right from the start: when you see a red glow above an enemy unit, change your unit, dont go after them with the one you are using currently, you would stand no chance. When you have a unit with you, press select/back button to see what other units they are good against and weak against, this way you can learn your way around which units to use at which times, and that is quite important in being able to make it off the battlefield unhurt. Have fun, and if there's anything you want to ask about the game, just ask

i've been playing the easiest difficulty of skirmishes to level up and increase the rank of my research. That's all i've been doing so far. i'm going to try and at least max out the sword's research at level 10 first before i start getting serious with the game... and it took me a few times dying to understand what you're all exactly saying but i understand and everyone of you have contributed to my needs tremendously. i appreciate the time you took to give me some pointers |

The best piece of advice has already been stated: take your time. I've got over 100 hours and I haven't even passed beyond 3 star fame (granted, I'm intentionally holding back to upgrade books and attempt to get guns). Anyway, upgrading your research for all of your books should be your priority. I'd actually avoid fighting the battle of Crecy until you've got at least 4 units with maxed Research (I waited until every available book had research maxed). Once you've got that, you don't have to worry about "losing" SP and while it doesn't seem like much now, the level cap is 99 and things will slow down tremendously between levels 20-30. Trust me when I say that you want to meticulously upgrade Research, without losing any SP (gaining any 'extra' levels until it's maxed); I even would quit and reload my save to keep from missing out on pouring every single SP into Research, which you can max out by level 19 if you're careful. After that, what I did was I focused on Spirit and Attack when available, and then focused on upgrading offensive abilities - some people think that focusing on Leadership should be your next step, but as far as I can tell Leadership only effects the size of the Recruit squads you hire at the inn, the size of units on the field depends on star difficulty. I typically use whatever squads I happen to find on the field, so I didn't bother much with Recruits (until I had to level Horsebows, and they'd never spawn on the field so I had no choice but to hire them). I'd recommend that you sell whatever artworks (jars, paintings), and pennons that you can find (the only ones I consider useful are Own Squad Attack Up and Enemy Squad Defense Down), and spend most of your money on armor for yourself. The only special items you don't want to sell immediately are the gems, but those aren't until 2-3 stars and you won't finish until 4 stars. Supposedly the weapons/shields increase the stats of your squad, but to be honest I haven't seen any difference. Keeping your own mercenary alive is more important than casualties - the game doesn't penalize you even if you completely burn through a dozen friendly squads (which I've done). |

i wasn't really sure what to do with those as i was wondering if they were of any significance to the game besides just small things to be sold at a cheap price. Good thing i sold them then. thanks and 100 hours plus? geez that's pretty crazy. thanks this is a really big help |

Yes, when looking for quick and easy money, just sell as much as you can, just as long as you dont have a use for it and dont worry about the time you can play it...its a massive game, just making it to the special battles at the end(ask later in game) I managed to rack up around 150+ hours

I bought the game new today $40. I tried the demo and it seemed like something I could see myself playing alot. Koei games may get bad reviews, but I always find myself putting the most time into their games. |

Well thats a good thing...also, if you need any help with the game, just post a question here in the part of the forum, and pretty much anyone who has played BLADESTORM should be able to help, me included ![]() Its a really good game, and I hope you really enjoy it, despite what some of the reviews might say about them

In the game, there are 4 major battles, and the ones that you do depends on which force you are fighting for. The first 2 are the same for both sides, it goes the battle of Crecy and then Potiers(however its spelt) and then the force specific battles. I dont really know the English ones, since I went through it on the French side, and those battles would Orleans and Bordeaux, but I think in LDZ's FAQ here, or guide, it has the 4 battles on the English side, and once you finish that fouth battle, thats pretty much the end of the main story of the game, then you can just bum around and finish all the rest of the game

Supposedly, it helps (but isn't necessary) to fight all/only/mostly for just one side, which final mission you get will be determined by which story missions you play. I restarted (I accidentally saved a new file over my 100+ hour save file), and now I'm working simultaneously on two saves (one for France, one for England) and I haven't gotten to either end yet, so I couldn't say first-hand. I do know that if you're relatively balanced (in terms of contracts completed), you shouldn't have a problem getting the side you want to support. Obviously, if you're playing almost exclusively for your chosen side (ie England) then you'll get them. |
