I've always wondered, for most of the years of my life, what happens AFTER death? I don't mean your body, or anything. But more so, yourself and your soul. How you see everything, feel everything, sense, and your being. Does it become eternal blackness, and there is nothing for you to do left? Do you become a ghost, and forever wander Earth and spectate the currently living humans? Or are you reborn, as a new person? Always makes me wonder. P.S. There might be a duplicate topic somewhere. |

well no-one knows for sure, there is any possibility and absolutely no-one knows, there is no answer, the only way to find out is to acctually die, not that im telling you to die, im just saying if you really want to know, then....

I believe when you die you just die. Like a forever sleep where you have no dreams and your body is completely frozen. Near-death experiences don't really count as evidence because you aren't completely dead. So yeah that's what I think. Though if you want to find out the truth then you won't find it because there is no scientific proof for life after death. A lot of people will probably mention Jesus and the Bible as evidence for Heaven and resurrection. Also the subject of reincarnation comes up a lot too in religions like Hinduism and Buddhism. None of these theories can really be proven scientifically though. |

It shouldn't matter what other people believe or think. You should decide on your own what you believe in. If you believe that after you die you go to the Mushroom Kingdom and party it up with the Princess for the rest of eternity then kudos to that. I think that most people are forced into believing a lot of things. You should be able to decide for yourself. I still know a kid who believes that Santa is real and he's 15 years old

What I WANT to believe happens: I either go to heaven or go to hell. Or purgatory, but I'm pretty sure I'm either good or bad. Either way, I'd rather suffer for all eternity than for nothing to happen. What very well MIGHT happen: There's nothing after death. You just die, you cease to think and therefor cease to exist. That, honestly, scares me more than the thought of the deepest level of hell. While I know it's a very pathetic fear, to fear death, I guess it's just human. I'd rather NOT die and figure out what lies waiting for me... can't be immortal, I'll accept that. But I'm still too young and naive to want to think they I can just die at any moment. Petty of me, yes, but whatever. It's just how I am. |

I'd really like to think that there's something after death, but what Jsun said is what I think as well. The only way we can somehow still be something or "keep living" after death is through the memories of those who knew us, or our own things we left. But when also those who knew us forget us or die, or when all the things that were ours or had to do with us disappear, we cease to exist forever, too. Quite sad, yes. But thinking of my loved ones' death saddens me more than thinking of my own death. |

i guess its mostly unknown what will happen after death, but if you were to believe the many accounts of near-death experiences, that could lead you to believe that there in fact IS life after death. while i find this to be somewhat hopeful, ive always wondered about this. how do we know that these people are in fact leaving their body in a spiritual form and heading to a heaven-like destination? how do we know that this isnt just a very vivid dream? maybe it is, maybe it isnt, but ive heard stories of near-deathers who were in the hospital and were able to accurately describe things that they saw while detached from their mortal coil that they just could not have seen from where their body was lying. i dont personally know what will happen, but i know that i will eventually find out, as will all of us. |

How 'bout Reincarnation? Screw "Hell" or "Heaven". You're going to be a different person on earth if you die, and if earth gets blown up, you'll be a different species on a different planet or universe. |

I agree with you 2. I personally fear death. It's probably the only fear I have. But like Jsun said you have to take it in your own way. I Ignore the present and look towards the future. I believe that one day in the future we'd be advance enough to control our own life span and probably find a way to bring back the dead. My motto is "anything's possible" because if we as humans can split an atom, change gender's,go underwater, go to space, and come up with cures for the diseases in this world what stopping us from doing anything.

What happens after death? Scientific speaking, your heart stops pumping and you're a corpse! But then religions come into play! It depends on what you believe in! If you're a Christian, you're either go to hell or heaven! For me who grew up in a Buddhist society, I believe in Karma and more or less in reincarnation! Your soul would reborn and what happen to you in the new life depends on what you'd done in the previous life! Something like that but since I also grew up in a modern world and expose to Western idealogy I'm not really a strong believer in such things! I'm still young! I don't need to worry about death! When it happens, it'll happen and over very quickly! Then we'll find out! |

I wouldn't like to believe that when we die there's just nothing. I'd like to live on after my pathetic body perishes and become a perfect being in heaven whom God has wanted everyone to be.. I'd rather get my hopes up now. I mean, if I'm wrong, how am i going to be disappointed if nothing happens after death?? |

I believe that when I die, I will float up to a dream-like state in a sea of clouds below a pair of pearly gates. There, a guy will show me my whole life on an old t.v. and would sometimes ask me what I was thinking or compliment me to ease the mood. After having reviewed my life, I would then be the subject of decision where a big orb on a throne decides where I go - Heaven or Hell. I then go to my destination. |

I could write a lot about this but I will just simplify it like this - near-death experiences have a tendency to make people dilussional. Therefore, the conception of going to heaven and hell is denied. |

I'm split on the subject. Really we all know there is no way to tell but I personally think its either reincarnation or heaven/hell. I basically think life after death is determined by life on earth. With reincarnation you go up in the cycle. With heaven/hell, more good go to heaven, bad go to hell. Those two I'd definetly more prefer. I'd hate it if everyone became ghosts or something similiar. Just wandering around watching loved ones you can never interact with would be torture. The idea of everything just ending and there being nothing wouldn't matter to me. If thats the way we'll never know, it would be over the second our hearts stopped beating. |

Too bad people couldn't rap their heads around that idea. We have religion to show for that... |

We need only to prove God's existence (or non-existence) before we could safely assume the basic description of what the afterlife will be. Of course, we could never know its exact nature on our own...
