I was going through this page and it says that Sun Jian (孫堅) and Sun Quan (孫権) have the same Japanese pronunciation: Sonken. Is this correct, or a mistake?

Yeah I pretty much had to do that. One of the downsides to Japanese pronunciation based on the original chinese, cases where things are read the same. Plus it's not tone based like chinese so that kinda adds to it at times.

Thanks for the quick answer.

In writing you can tell based on the characters, but that has to be really confusing in conversation...

In the Musou Orochi and Maou Sairin staff rolls it's written "Sonken (1st)" for Sun Jian and "Sonken (2nd)" for Sun Quan, to distinguish them.

In Japanese fansites I've often found "Sonken papa" or similar things for Sun Jian XD.
