I found a really good tutorial for making fabric fans (single or double sided) Folding Fan Tutorial - Credits to Ani_BEE Hope it helps out those Mitsunari/Qiaos cosplayers. |

For the Lu Xun pic, which game is it from? It's ironic you posted this, as I came here to ask if anyone has pictures of Cap Pi from DW6. I need his back with his cape, and with his cape up so you can see under it. |

I need pictures of Mori Ranmaru (SW2 costume) and of Ishida Mitsunari for cosplay as my cousin and I intend to cosplay as them for the Cosplay Challenge 2009 in Singapore. I hate to rush,but I really need the pictures right away as the workshops are starting tomorrow and we need those pictures. Thanks. |

My group mostly stuck to 3rd weapons as they appear the most often in official art. I'm still new to making props myself (I was able to manage Kenshin's weapon because its fairly wide and sturdy, so I could make it almost purely out of compressed foam) But Ranmaru's weapon is longer and thinner; so making it out of foam would be very fragile. You might need access to power tools to make the blade...I dunno if the workshop will help you with that. Otherwise there is a tutorial here: http://sgcafe.com/showthread.php?t=51842 The tutorial only seems to cover a straight sword however, so you will need to obtain a curved piece of wood to work with at the start, and modify the design since Ranmaru's weapon has some jaggedness. If you get some light, foam clay from Daiso, you can use it to smooth out irregular parts and sculpt on small details too. Then everything can be painted with spray or acrylic paints. For the handle, if you go to youtube and type in 'how to wrap a katana handle' you'll get some nice instructional vids. |

You know what...forget about the lovecraft tutorial. I think modifying that into a curved blade would be a lot more work than making the sword out of layers of corrugated plastic or even cardboard. |

I see.I've just returned from the first workshop,and the props instructor told me that all I have to do is get a curved piece of wood and modify it,with help from him for the difficult parts. My cousin needs help for Mitsunari's headpiece,do you have any tips for it? Also,do you know where we can find some good fabric for our costumes that isn't too expensive?The fabrics which the instructors recommended are way too expensive. Sorry for asking so many questions at once. |

For the headpiece, I'd make the front band and the tall spikes with something rigid...maybe plastic cut from used juice bottles. Look for 2.4 and 3 litre bottles of a brand called 'Berri' at supermarkets...its not cheap, but then it *is* a lot of juice. Anyway this particular brand has big rounded-rectangular bottles which can be cut with strong scissors and I will be making them into armor for another cosplay...or you could go the same route as my Kenshin cosplay and use plastic from files folders. Both materials can be bent without breaking, and you can attach them behind your head and under the wig using elastic cord, then hide the cord with hair. Have you looked for fabric in Bugis street yet? Its a bit cheaper. I am not a fabric expert...but maybe you could try linen or twill for the outer coats? Since its tougher and a bit more rigid. Otherwise you could use interfacing on the inside of a softer material to give it more shape. |

 that's what the juice i'm talking about looks like, though of course the exact colour, flavour and label could be different. the file folders are cheaper though. |

Most likely horizontal I'm guessing. Mitsunari is pretty popular when it comes to cosplayers, I'm sure if answers don't turn up here, cosplay.com might have some for you. Just a suggestion. @Nutella: This was the best I could capture, I have Zhang Liao's cutscenes on my computer, so I captured it from the video when him and Ren have a duel.
