Worst Features in a KOEI Games; Annoying things about the series

swimming. it's nothing new in games, and the way it was implemented in DW6 was like some 3rd grade child made the mechanics of it, fall in, CAN'T GET OUT. jump in, CAN'T GET OUT...RRRRRR! WHY in any sort of world, would Zhen Ji and Zhang He swim at all... much less REALLY FAST?

and DW6 horse farming, C'MON KOEI, it does NOT replace collectibles.

i actually am probably one of the few who LOVE the castle levels in SW1. it was new and different and HARD.

For the same reason one even fights when she apparently didn't fought in history, and the other one goes to battle with claws and heels...

I for one welcome swimming, and duels.

Anyhow, im starting to dislike both the fact that the 2p can't choose its own team on WO2, and the fact that my units DONT OBEY MY COMMANDS in DW5: Empires...

I did not hate Infiltration stages, but i DID hate SIEGE stages with a passion.

I thought the swimming was kind of pointless. It's like "Oh, a river! Let's swim through it and see if it leads to the enemy's main camp." What kind of warrior would swim during a battlefield. They need to stop adding useless features like swimming. You really think someone is going to swim in water with 40lbs of armor?

They could have atleast added bikinis :P

Yeah, I posted the same thing on the first page, a real major drawback to the game. Just doesn't make any sense! Will WOZ fix it, I wonder? :rolleyes:

thanks, Jsun. it was touted as this HUGE NEW FEATURE that would revolutionalize DW6, and it turned into an useless whimper...swim? but where? again: you fall in, can't get out. jump in, can't get out. swept away to a cul de sac...at least you could find horses in them in DW6PS2.

climbing was far more useful.

The weights on weapons. Blah! :realangry: So annoying.

SW1 Castle Infiltrations drove me nutts and it wasn't fun, because it was confusing and timed.

Mitsunari and Nohs Special attacks. Not very fair and not very useful at times.

Lack of modes in WO1. Nothing else besides free and story mode. horrible.

4th charge attacks in DW5 were horrible as well as the one hit ending on everyones true musou in DW5. Not very unique.

Orbs were a major turn off for me too. I preferred the quick magic beam the strategist, including Da Qiao and Cao Cao, had in DW4 and it was even cooler that you could customize it with an element.

I can list more then one thing annoying in these series and here is my small list for now.

1. Getting knocked off the horse the moment you get on.

2. Not be able to turn off certain in game cutscenes when I am in the middle of fighting or riding my horse along the way so a random officers can come by and knock me off.

3. Having officers struggle at the very beginning of the battle while playing on easy. I didn't even get to the first gate and I already have some lousy generic officer struggling! I ignore them now because they are usually fine by the time I am done with the stage but it's annoying that the message always comes up.

4. Attack, enemy block, stop attacking, attack again, get hit by a peon from behind, get knocked down, get attacked, attack back, enemy block, stop attacking, attack again, repeat until enemy officer is defeated. You have no idea how annoying that can be.

5. Getting trampled by an elephant while trying to knock the officer off.

(I'll just add to the previous list since those were included in mine as well :lol: )

6. SW2-WO2 Cavalry units :mellow: - It never fails that I miss one of them and get knocked off my feet and aerial-raped by the next charging batch <_<

7. Allied officers stealing officer KOs - You were struggling for the last 5min and now just when I need that KO, you show up to take it from me? ... bastard <_<

8. Getting knocked out of attacks by random spear peons or strike ninjas, especially on Chaos/Expert :angry:

The only thing I hate in all these games are kill stealers. Nothing really pisses you off other than AI getting your kills, especially if said AI is right next to you and lands the final blow before you do.

I'm just curious because I haven't played DW6:E, but what did they do to improve the swimming feature? Make it faster or something?

1. swimming still sucks no matter which way you look at it.

2. infact, even the multi tiered plains of DW6 pissed me off sometimes because if i get knocked off a cliff or jump down one, it can be a pain to find my way back up.

3. renbu.

4. overpowered archer and musket units.

5. ill think of more when i can....

1. Renbu. I didn't mind building it up for some reason, but everything else about the mechanic annoyed me to no end. Almost all character uniqueness was lost, all you do is hammer the square button for the entire map, and the finishing strikes are useless on higher difficulties, since the chances of you getting that far in your string are slim to none without getting hit towards the end. I play action games for the style, finesse and creativity I can put into the combat system, not to sit down and hammer the square button with little to no option for stylish or interesting combat.

2. Escort missions. These aren't fun in any game, and the Musou games are no exception. It doesn't help that the officers you have to escort are always dumb as dirt, and that they have to stop to fight EVERY SINGLE peon on the way.

3. Useless allies. While this was mostly fixed in WO2, it's still a problem in every other Musou game. Allies get themselves killed by a group of peons, can't take a single generic, or struggle at the worst possible times. Having to backtrack just disrupts the flow of the game, especially when you spend more time traveling to save your allies than you do actually fighting the enemy.

Still, Renbu angers me the most out of any shortcomings the Musou series has had over the years. An action game should always have some form of stylish and/or interesting combat, and Renbu delivers neither. It basically turned the series into what the reviewers have been calling it since day one. A boring, repetitive button masher.

#1:Duel in Dynasty Warriors 6 is not fun for me anymore because of the overpowered officer :(

#2:Renbu not even cool maybe if I have to get it up to level 3 every time I play a stage but when I jump off the boat when I play the Chi Bi stage for the first time it when from 2 to 1 fast and boy was I mad <_<

#3:Escort mission like Cai Wenji and other characters in DW6E it not even fun it ok up til the part where you get attack by overpower character and if you are careless while fighting whoever the overpower officer is she will end up getting kill by his/her attack and you will lose

The only things I really hated are..

Dumbing down of the Ruler mode in DW6E

Going away from the deep story modes of DW4, making them much weaker.

Not having siege equipment in DW6E.

Making each new character even more shallow than the last version. Taking everything to the extreme. Time for a reset....

Other wise I really do not have that big a problem.

:/ I think the games aren't that flawed. But I don't really like how elephants can run you into a wall, and you're pretty much trapped. That's about it, though.

Horses. I just find them particularly useless when it comes to fighting. It is so easy to be hit off as soon as you get on and fighting on a horse isn't that great.
Sure they're great for moving around, but that's about it. Unless you have Red Hare. I also dislike how useless some allies can be, and how a battle with a general will take longer when you aren't there.
No, I mean you killing the general yourself but when you go to the scene and watch the fight and you find your allies are struggling, but when they're alone fight a whole lot better.

Or Okuni in SW/WO...

Also, Strike Ninjas, Archers in DW3, Fire Ninjas, Sky Ninjas (or are they called Wind Ninjas?) and missions where you need to rely on the AI to get somewhere for victory (like Escape from Honno-ji in SW).
