I am going to Hong Kong in just a few days, going to buy some ps3 games then
is Warriors Orochi Z worth buying?
I have already played the first and the second of Warriors Orochi, quite like it but it is not exactly special
so I would like to know your view on this, is this game worth buying?

Thank you very much for your help!

I personally say yes.

Will it excite you on the fact of being able to play it on PS3, with enhanced graphics?

Do you like having a bit more troops on the field to fight?

Do you want to experience 4 new movesets?

Does it excite you to have new 4th costumes for everyone?

Do you really want to play the 12 new dream stages?

Do you like obtaining trophies?

Does it bother you to not understand most of whats going on? (if you dont understand Japanese)

If you answered yes to most of these(or no to the last one) then I say its worth your buy :)

I think the language isn't a problem since sooner or later, they're going to have the game translated. You just have to wait a bit more.

But damn... I saw the enhanced graphics on utube, it's awesome. I never thought WO graphics can be this neat.

i don't think they are gonna translate this game because it was canceled and no intent of making more of this game.

i am used to the japanese now and i just have to get working on it so that i can unlock all this awesome stuff.

does anyone know why when you load a save file from game faqs, that the game won't allow you to save or get trophy's?

It's a lockdown thingy so that people won't be lazy and use other people's saves to get easy trophies

It might sound ridiculous but that's the truth XD

That's basically the only reason but what's the points of having trophies that you don't earn by themselves. -_- Other people won't know but self consciousness will haunt you!

Anyway I've been wondering, say if I had this game and there's a patch (on Japanese server), would I be able to download it from PAL server since I live in a PAL region?

I don't think it'll work but since I've never had an import PS3 game before I wouldn't know for sure!

I thought PS3 is region-free so anyone can import & play Japanese games?

Or are you referring to additional patches/content made available after the fact?

Well there was no dlc for the game.

As for patches, they are automatic just as they are with your local games you buy. As I remember there only being one, and it told me to download before I started playing it that day, just as with any other game.

the game is worth it because you get two games in one. even if you have the two other games for ps2, this one does have more charecters and it looks much better on the ps3.

i think that the samurai charecters should have gotten their sw3 costumes for the 4th costume. however, koei did not even finish sw3 yet so that explains it.
but the reason why i state this is because they should have gotten a better 4th costume due to the game being on ps3.

i notice that the movesets changed graffically, for example tachibana's square square square tiangle attack slightly looks different at the end of it then it did on the ps2, and the range is not as long as it was on ps2.

i think the game is worth it for those who do not have the game or, who do have both of the games but want every koei game there is.. guah ha ha.

Thanks Jasonic! :)

I'm in dilemma here, I saw a used copy (the only one) on local online site and the price is quite high (it's just slightly cheaper than importing myself) but at the same time I want to play the game. The fact that it's a compilation on PS3 is very tempting and the trophies of course (yes I'm a trophy whore but only for the games I like) :D

I've already played both WO and WO2 on PS2 so Japanese voice doesn't bother me too much at all. But the fact that it's in Japanese only kinda puts me off too!

Decision, decision...

A friend of mine is pondering whether to buy this or not (leaning towards yes), so he checked playasia. Playasia has the Chinese version for 15$ cheaper than the Japanese version; we're wondering if there are any gameplay differences between the two?

There wont be any difference in gameplay. You'll just have Mandarin VAs, instead of Japanese, also the text I assume.
Ive never been picky with VAs(if I got a glitched copy with all chipmunk voices, I wouldnt care.) Its not something that sways me toward a game or not. But if you do care, seems most people like the JP voices, ive never heard anything about Chinese VAs, so I dont know whether they would be considered good or not. Although it would be more natural for the DW characters

Huh, that would actually make more sense :P As I also assume thats how European games work too right? Using English VAs with text that is in German or French or whatever?

Not being able to read Japanese is a game breaker for me. Mainly because I always look at the history during the battle to see what I need to be doing.

I wonder if Koei ever thought of just doing sub titles for thier games. I would gladly buy every game they make if they would do sub titles. Seems most of my movie buys have been either Japanese or Chinese movies with sub titles.

I don't think there's any reason why they should put in subtitles in english they game did in fact come out in Japan. And it's a game made for japanese people :XD

err, maybe I didn't understand you. I was saying if a game is not coming to other parts of the world, why not have sub-titles that can be bought direct?

In other words if in the future Koei decides due to the NA and European reviewers always trashing thier games, that they will stick to only releasing said game in Japan, then a option for sub-titles in other languages would be a decent. Most likely it would be too costly.

A Cheaper option might be to have a downloadable walk-through guide availible with the storyline in different languages. I would by games direct if such a item could be available. Or I could wait for a kind soul to put one up on this site for those that do not speak or read Japanese.

Rydain's Treasure Guide included the Kanji for most of the characters names, so it was fairly easy for me to complete those objectives when i imported the PS2 version.

and DW3 and SW1 both had Japanese VA options, with English subtitles. after that tho' KOEI took out that feature which is still railed against today. i liked it in SW1, and used it all the time, even tho' the original English cast was very good.

because it's cheating!

why would you want to download save games rather than making it there yourself?

i'm so glad it takes forever in dw games to get everything and level everybody out.
