Ok, so I stumbled across this video showing Yue Ying's voice from DW6 special. It's obviously not the same actress as DW6 had. So it brings up a question, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtdQp1Jmq3o Did they keep all of the original actress' lines in battles? (like the officer defeated and in fight scripts from the fights she was in, ect) Or did they re record all of them with this new horrible voice? I'm asking because I'd be terrified this crap would make it into empires if they did. Also the same question would apply to all the decloned characters if their voices changed? Thanks a bunch, I hope this question seems clear. I wasn't sure if it belonged in the DW6 thread but this is more of a special question so I didn't think it would. |

It sounds a bit different...and worse. I think they kept all the lines from DW6. As there were some lines already that weren't used and would fit perfectly for Empires. I hope Xiahou Yuan doesn't have many new lines. His voice from WO2 was horrible. As well as Lu Meng's. |

I'm not entirely sure with all this. That's the same voice actress, but poorer voice acting, it sounds somewhat emotionless without the BGM. You can hear her DW6 PS3 voice shine through at points. And note that the voice actors record individually and do not hear what the other character/s are saying I believe, so it can seem very odd at times. Yes it's very likely all the old clips were copy & pasted. Koei's always done this. And yes it's possible the same applies to Empires. |

If I can say, I've never liked DW6 Yue Ying's voice (I mean the performance of Yue Ying's new voice actress). Her previous voice actress did a great job and her voice was perfect for Yue Ying. I think it's also thanks to her if I liked Yue Ying a lot, as much as now I don't like Yue Ying as I did before also because of her new voice (her new design too, sorry. She's even prettier, but I don't think it entirely suits her). My hope is that Yue Ying's pre-DW6 voice returns. |

It's actually funny. I was almost sure her DW6 voice was the old actress. But after playing it again today I realized it isn't. (It doesn't seem to be, anyway) I really miss the original actress too. She played such a lovely Yue Ying, it's a shame she's absent now. Although I'm not sure if her voice would entirely fit the redesign. Hmmm |

It saves Koei money to recycle lines than having the new VA redo all the old ones. Cutting corners, like always. And before now I never paid much attention to Yue Ying to notice that... of all the women to change, SSX was the one that needed it the most. Ugh... I'd rather listen to an emotionless Vulcan woman than... that... |

I think the voice actress who played DW5 Yue Ying would do a good job with DW6 Yue Ying as well. The new Yue Ying isn't so different from the "old" one speaking about her face and build, after all. By the way, her Japanese voice is rather similar to the English one that we miss so much, and it still fits her perfectly. |

that brings up a good question... because it seems like voice acting is going to play a fairly big part in Empires.. at least in officer mode. Many of the posted videos show conversations... usually between your officer and friends/allies/enemies/lord etc. So heres hoping the voices don't turn out too bad. I find a lot of the English VAs in DW6S are a bit... weird. I saw Zhang He's scenes a few days ago and even he sounds rather odd. Not particularly bad, but... very droney and less emotional than usual. Zhen Ji sounded awful, Zhuge Liang sounds bad... Even Cao Cao sounds a bit off. But maybe that's because he's talking about beauty, and that is just ... bizarre. I miss old Yue Ying, never mind old Yue Ying VA. |

I hated her DW4 voice. (Although, it was a preference thing since she didn't seem THAT bad, either) Her DW5 voice was the same actress who played Mei Sameung (sp?) in Kessen. She did a very good job for Yue Ying. Although she seemed a little too girly, -shrugs- Although I think as a whole that voice was probably slightly better than DW6. I'd say her DW6 actress is the best but for questionable lines and rather poor cut scene acting in special. PostalOrder is right, though. All the cutscene voice acting in special was horrible. Even Kongming who's actor always does a pretty legendary job playing him IMO. I think they probably didn't get paid as much or something so they didn't give a damn. That's the impression I got, anyway. I really hope that the conversations in empires don't get messed up. Hopefully they get the really good actors back for the characters like Zhuge Liang, Sima Yi, LuBu, Cao Pi, Zhang Fei, ect ect. Edited by Miss Fairy, Jun 23 2009, 12:01 AM.

The PS3 version of her grunts were terrible IMO and DW4. I think KOEI let her do another version of Yue Ying and was sent to DW6 Special, I think.  Oh man I wished Lara Cody(voice actor of Yue Ying in DW5) would voice Yue Ying in the future games.

Yue Ying's DW6XL voice is so good! It's her best voice she's had. She sounds early 20s not late 20s anymore. And she knows how to deliver the lines (Except for some...) |
