So you wish to test the edge of my blade? Posts: 155 Group: Members Member #14,323 Joined: March 29, 2008	DW over SW 1. More characters great for Empires. 2. Greater battles like Hu Lao Gate, He Fei Chang Ban etc...with the base system 3. Has my overall Favourite Characters. EDIT: Oops I forgot one thing, DW has better music. SW over DW 1. More dramatic story modes, fictional and historical creates awesome moods 2. Usually has better features than the same generation of DW (SW2E has better things that DW5E like using tactics on free mode, weapons are much better) 3. Also, Phoenix of Wei, as Smily Man says, please use the EDIT button next time to add or make alterations to your last post... DW over SW: 1) Larger level designs, and more freedom to do as you please in them (NO MISSIONS that pop up randomly mid battle). 2) EDIT ENDING/OPENING (DW4/DW5) 3) DUELZ (DW4) SW OVER DW: 1) LESS CHARACTERS... fewer of them, but they are more a far more interesting cast (more so in SW1). 2) Individual story modes (though they were much stronger in SW1). 3) Better character designs, for the most part. In case your wondering, my favorite DW game was DW4/DW4:E, favorite SW game was SW1+XL. Edited by Manji, Jun 21 2009, 04:43 PM.

Posts: 3,585 Group: Members Member #4,250 Joined: November 19, 2006	DW over SW: 1. Great character designs. ~~Sun Quan.~~ 2. Good amount of cutscenes. 3. Challenge mode! SW over DW: 1. Movesets were used better. 2. Better stage designs. 3. Magoichi lol. To be honest, my list for Dynasty Warriors could go farther since I tend to sway my interest more over for the series but I'll leave at this.

A more dramatic and engaging storyline (in most cases. Specifically Samurai Warriors 1) Better level sesign. A better gameplay system. The combos and the like are highly superior to both the previous DW system and the Renbu. Better skill system. Shingen.

called to serve Posts: 3,958 Group: Members Member #7,897 Joined: June 11, 2007 Gender Male	DW over SW - I find it more historically interesting - better stage designs(varys from game to game though) - Well Im a simple minded guy, and I love how easy it is to follow and the fact that we have three factions in which each character belongs to one(except for the others of cource) and they stay with that Kingdom, well at least throughout the game. SW over DW - more unique system of movesets - infiltration battles(mainly with SW1) although I did enjoy them and despise them at the same time. - story modes are much more individualised

I played all the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms on Nintendo when I was a kid. When Playstation took Koei in, I played Romance of the 3 Kingdoms on that.

Rock beats techno 2)My fav char Pang Tong ( I got other favs too tho ) 3) DW has better and more realistic gameplay elements (renbu, bases,...) than SW There are many more reasons, these are just top of my list

DW over SW. 1) - I enjoy the characters here much better and am more familiar. 2) - Stages are more fun and faster paced to get around. (Most anyway...) 3) - Music here is much more enjoyable. SW over DW. 4) - More challenging and stays that way even when using a maxed out character. 5) - Story-mode is much in depth with individual characters. 6) - Samurai and Ninja!

The music, especially in 6 and 4. :D 2. ~~Ling Tong~~ The character designs, some with actual personalities. 3. Stages are way fun and easy to get around. OH, and because it was the first KOEI series I played haha. SW over DW 1. ~~Maggo~~ The interesting weapons 2. The strange characters. Most of them are so bizarre. xD 3. DW > SW: 1. More characters 2. More interesting story 3. Music really kicks ass! SW > DW: 1. All characters are balanced and so all good to use. 2. Levels are a lot more fun to play 3. Cutscenes and interactions between characters are better This is for my liking the main difference. The rest is just the same "smash that croud and officers with your beatin' stick" kind of game.

A larger cast to grow into- 48 characters, all of which for the most part have their own story, own motives and own narratives. The larger cast also gives way to a lot more character rivalries and relationships; something I particularly liked about DW. 2. A longer story arc- 50 years is how long the DW-game story takes. From the YTR when the land was unified till the death of Zhuge Liang when the splintered land was at its peak. That provided a lot of personal stages in dispersed with the major conflicts. 3. Rock VS Techno- when it gets right down to it, I much prefer to slash nameless peons and soldiers while listening to hard rock riffs. The Techno of SW, while good in its own right, just doesn't suit long drawn battles where you fight to get 1000 KO's. I'll put the SW over DW list later.

Larger cast 3. its on the next-gen systems I am not going to do SW/DW frankly because I HATED Samurai Warriors! I got SW1 and hated it with a passion!!!!

Better movesets- the SW cast... just seemed to have a wider variety of movesets. SW2+XL had the best example; Normal movesets reminiscent of DW, technical movesets that relied more on R1's, and combo movesets that relied more on charge attacks. There was just so much of a variety that playing as the SW cast felt more satisfying. 2. Better designed stages- One major gripe I had with the DW stages was the fact that most, if not all of them, had huge stretches of landmass that hardly has any conflict on them at all. The SW stages balanced this out by having more bridges, cliffs, castle battles, etc. In fact I'd guess the only stage that had one gigantic barren land was Sekigahara, but even then there was a hell of a lot of fighting going on in that one area. 3. Better designed characters- DW designs are good and all, but the fact that these Japanese characters are from a more western influenced era of Asian history gave way to characters that have a more modern and gritty design. From Nobunaga's black armor, to Tadakatsu's antlers, to Ginchiyo's non-revealing battle wear, to demonic Kotaro himself. These designs are just more appealing to see when fighting nameless peons and soldiers. I'll probably put up a "3 reasons why DW and SW are equal" later.
