yes, which is why i'm guessing the super fever starts at 5000,7000 is an odd number while using 1000 would be too close and makes the normal fever quite obsolete(lets face it,the first fever will let you combo to 1500~2000 in a flash),also note that the normal fever starts at 500.... |

Actually, I don't mind the current route they're taking, if it means the PCs get extra emphasis. It definitely hurts that so many characters might be sitting out on this one, but when the assumed Heroes expansion comes along, those characters will likely get the same emphasis the current PCs had, making for a really sweet roster, each having branching story paths (?) and each with his or her own unique characteristic. Sure, if they spent more time, we could have all characters playable, but something tells me none of them would have gotten special attention. Well, as long as they don't go too overboard on NPCs, thats my view. As for the likes of Toshiie and Matsu, if one of them draws a NPC card, I'm sadly betting it Toshiie. BK gave solid reasons to Matsu's inclusion over Toshiie, but that doesn't mean my man totally has to be cut. He did die one year before Sekigahara, but so did Motochika. So I suppose that helps, and again, its not like dates ever mattered in SB (although, it looks like they aren't going too crazy in this one, with the exception of Motonari )Anyway, heres looking foward to the new batch! Will it be another blow by Koba or will it be awesome news all around? |

I agree with eklineage. I think we will probably get the 2 silhouettes from last time revealed along with Sasuke and Kojuro NPC profiles. For this update I really want to see who the ball n chain person is and who the next returning person is in the new silhouette (if they follow the formula w/ one returning and one new). |

Question: does anyone think we'll be seeing any NEW NPCs in this game? Much like Kennyo/Ujimasa/Kojuuro/etc. were originally? Or do you think NPC status is now relegated to only demoted characters? |

Well after the hard blow of cut favourites, NPC favourites and NPC Kanetsugu...it would be quite harsh to add unplayable new characters that are supposed to make for the cut/NPC´d characters. I really doubt that Mr. Kobyashi´d do something like that...at least if he wants to sleep well at night I can allready see the enraged Hanbei/Mitsuhide/Kojuuro, etc. fangirls standing in front of his window...only thing missing would be enraged fanboys and people from outside japan...and with something like "new NPCs" he´d cross the line... I´ve allready reserved a place in front of Koba´s door in case Hisahide is a NPC again

He's a generic NPC. Basically, he's one of your average grunts, but with a unique helmet. But it's not enough to call him a unique NPC. Also, has anyone looked at the screens and managed to get a look at generic officer names, as well as not seeing any famous ones? |

Well, even though I count Kanetsugu as a NPC, doesn´t mean everyone else does It´s just that he has been in two games, one spin-off, appeared in the anime and will again be in Sengoku BASARA 3 now with his love crested helmet. He also has his own voice actor and his own unique personality. I hope that if they really make a HEROES expansion for BASARA 3, they´ll at least add one new character, like in SB2:Heroes were they made all the NPCs playable but also added a new...though not playable ...character.I mean afterall Kanetsugu is quite popular, not only thanks to his KOEI appearance, but generally. Also he had the second place in the "Who do you want to play as in SB"-poll. Only Mitsunari and Kanetsugu got over 1500 votes right? Really, Kanetsugu NEEDS to be playable. Even though he´s a bit of a joke figure, I really love his "MUTEKI" character. He reminds me a lot of Patrick Colassaur from Mobile Suit Gundam 00...he allways ended up losing against a Gundam, but surviving and never giving up. Well...funny thing is Kanetsugu too lost to a That´s why I still have my hopes up for Kanetsugu´s appearance in BASARA 3...or at least a title that has BASARA 3 in it. Hopefully your right DK but unfortunately I don't expect anything from Koba. The Kasuga,Kenshin,Sasuke, and Kojuro NPC thing was a low blow, and no unique Kane-kun is even worse *sigh* poor poor MUTEKI!! *shakes head* Well hopefully the next batch will be better, not only is mister chain'n'ball guy revealed(hopefully being Mr.Badass Mogami ) but with every batch comes new info on the game itself. maybe it'll show some thing cool like if the game will have alt. costumes (which is one of the things I am anticipating the most) . Or maybe it'll tell us HOW exactly we'll get the story paths to branch which I hope isn't gonna be like SM where you only get about 2 different paths. oohh oooh I hope its going to be like maybe the game "Shadow the Hedgehog". I LOVED how the story branched in that game, it was so fun and diverse . Unfortunately I think having THAT big of branching storylines is asking a bit to much for every character .I hope that the next silhouette batch will show one of the Maedas. Sorry to all Toshiie fans but my bet goes on Matsu. As a matter of fact I think Oichi and Matsu (maybe Itsuki) will be the returning females. And For some strange unknown reason I have a feeling Oichi will be in playable. Because they worked so hard on her character, she had a great gaiden story, plus when she became playable in SB2:Heroes I found her fans posting TONS of fanart(all in japanese), so she has a pretty strong fanbase . I really loved her moveset and I don't care what others say:to have Oichi be a obedient girl that goes all phsyco on you if you provoke her, controls black arms that raise up and literally drags you to hell, slays anyone on her path, and then turns back to normal and act like nothing happened is pretty frickin' BADASS to me .But recovering from my fangirl rant (yes believe it or not fangirls actually like female characters too, le gasp ) I can't wait to see the other new character coming from the next batch, only 5 more days guys, 5 more agonizing, cruel, anticipated days Edited by So Nyuh Shi Dae, Fri Jan 1, 2010 11:48 pm.

I am beginning to wonder what Koba is planning. Here are my thoughts: He'll move the series forward plot wise with the main game, then expand on 'left out' characters with the "Heroes" expansions. Not only that, but keep in mind they may be bringing in newer casts of characters in the theoretical SB4, especially if the timeline moves towards Ieyasu, and the Osaka castle battles. That could be our proper return of Musashi, and others as well. Then SB4 expansion comes along, and gives playability of all characters from before, and maybe a faction based story mode with shared cutscenes for the same team, think DW4). ...or something to that effect. |

Because the battle of Sekigahra is the most famous battle in all of Japanese history and because it is a huge part of Japan's popular culture and it can help expand the story and current characters and tell a new story never told before in the BASARA-verse. @Kratos Aurion: Thats exactly what i was thinking, the main games will continue with the story and overall series. While the expansions tell the story of the old and cut characters so they get their own focus. I'm thinking Sb4's villian will be Hideyori. But its too early for that, ne? Well, looking at SB2H's example, where only 7 characters had a story mode...doesn't really give you hope, does it... Let's face it people, Koba's using Sekigahara as a nice excuse to have us already ready and willing to buy SB3H. Now I understand that complaining about it is useless, but if the best we can expect is a game with "less&more" content than its prequel, I'd rather they did away with the story mode than with characters.... At least that's my point. About the next update, won't they show the NPCification of Kojuro and Sasuke, apart from Yoshihiro and Ball&Chain? If that's so, we won't have bad "news" to worry about...I hope... I'm eager to see how much (if at all) Yoshihiro has been changed...after all if they show him after the game's most prominent main chars (Keiji and Maggie seem to have a decently big role too), he must have been expanded on by the developers....hopefully... |

I give Koba a lot of credit for what he's doing with the story. One big complaint regarding DW and SW is that every installment had the same story, same battles, etc. No amount of changes to gameplay would change the fact that each installment was a remake of the last. The way Koba's leading SB3, I'd be willing to call SB3 a true sequel of SB2 (SB2 being the remake of SB1). But, I do agree with NDY here. 7 cut characters (9, if Hanbei's death is true and Shingen's illness is fatal)? 4 fan-favorites reduced to NPC status? In DW6, there was at least a method to this madness; if memory and sources serve correct, DW6 was only about 50% complete when it was rushed out to shelves to get in the PS3 bundle. But with 3 years, no way could this be rushed. This is clearly toying with the fanbase, milking money off them with an expansion. Not a smart move, Capcom, for both the fans you're pleasing and the foreign non-fans you're trying to impress. |

Again, some of you have to truly consider some of the things that are at hand here. Like my boy, Hanbei, used to spit about, it's all about looking at the "big picture". Fundamentally speaking, this is a brand new game, ladies and gentlemen. And it can be afforded to be marketed as such; the fact that its a sequel to a 5 year old series not withstanding. Everything is new. The graphics engine is new. The gameplay advancements are promising to be above and beyond whatever the PS2 era BASARA games were capable of. We've got ****ing MOVING MOUTHS. ![]() Obviously, to make for such a nice "omelet", you gotta break some eggs. And at this point, if "character cuts" are the main, if not possibly ONLY "eggs" that we have to worry about? Then honestly, SO BE IT, in my eyes. Fanservice is nice, and all, but in the end, that's all it is. Fanservice. And sorry, but to me, gameplay is king. I say that, knowing full well that ALL of my favorites from SB2/H are gone/NPC-ified. But if it's in the name of this series being made the best it can be, such that it actually stands to have an even more rewarding gameplay experience than before, I don't mind really. Again, my main thing has always been about wanting BASARA to be more than just the "fangirl fantasy action game-lite" that it's been for these last 4 years. Capcom's not going to expand the demographic, if they keep making and marketing the games at that kind of limited scope in Japan, and they're certainly not going to impress foreign prospects if they don't deliver something that will keep them interested. Because let's put it this way. Expanding the fanbase in Japan, will likely mean that a lot of people will join the series, just for the sake of it being a fun game. Whether some older characters that they or their (girl)friends remembered from the first few games are in it, or not. And it's even "sweeter" for the Foreign prospects in the West. Sorry to say, but most people in the USA DO NOT CARE ABOUT JAPANESE HISTORY THAT MUCH. Even if they do remember Devil Kings (Capcom would probably prefer if you didn't, at this point), they don't have the repertoire with Japanese history, and its personalities. And also, since they missed out on Part 2, they likely don't even know most of the characters that would be introduced in those games. In other words, they wouldn't know what they're missing. Far as most know, the game they could stand to pick up later this year will be a brand new experience for them. Or for people who may have been made aware of the series through other means (anime, ASW fighting game), this will be even more. For both cases, the thing they have in common is that this could stand to be the "first BASARA game" for a lot of people. So, this is probably the opportunity that Koba and his crew were waiting for, in order to be able to take advantage of basically starting this game series from scratch. So, honestly...I don't know what else I can say here. But thus far, I do support Koba's notion of trying to make a BASARA game that's NOT just another self-servicing thing for the already established fan base. That was fine on the PS2, where the games were cheaper to make, and could afford to be marketed as such. But now that we're in the PS3/Wii generation, and much more money has been spent in order to make and market these games, it's time to expand. This much should make sense, whether you subscribe to my "fighting game-logic" train of thought, or not... |
