Probably. I wouldn't wait for changes in most of the cases anyway, as much as I wanted to see new Basara moves or even two per character. Just like two Ultras in Street Fighter IV. |

well,i do think they need to differentiate the BASARA attacks a bit while under the effect of battle drive, make the finishing frames a bit different like the "true musou" or just perform a totally different attack altogether when using BASARA+drive, that would be fun,i would love to see yukimura "dragon kick people into the milky way" a la SBX in SB3 |

Yeah, this is something I always thought they should do since they implemented Sengoku Drive: changing the Basara move completely if you use when it's activated. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case, since Yoshitsugu's Basaras look exactly the same with or without the Drive. |

wodash, At the risk of starting a discussion over gameplay in a freakin' one player stylish action game, yes, I am aware that Yoshihiro's forte is in dispatching enemies quickly, but remember the importance of getting high combo counts in Basara - namely the experience and treasures for the first three 500 Hit combos bonuses. Bearing that in mind, and I guess part of my own ineptitude at the game with Yoshihiro, yes, I think priming is important for him. At least on how I play the game. That said, I should add that racking body counts ("mopping up" the stage fits the bill better) is just my overall playing style, regardless of character. I guess, I'm a bit of a tyrant... |

Even so, there's different ways of approaching similar ends. For example, even CHESTO can start getting good combo bonuses, depending on what items you chose to attach to him. And that opens up a whole new level of convo altogether. In SB2, the items are what really made it so that you could give the game's combat system some serious depth and variety. Proper utilization of those items, as well as player skill, are what really went along way to making the most of how a character performs. And that was back in SB2. SB3 promises to make it so that each character has enough depth unto themselves, such that they could feel like the main character of an individual game. And with things such like how Maggie can change her S-string, simply based on the skills she's equipped with, I'm thinking even old schoolers like CHESTO will have much more in the way of depth. Now imagine all THAT, combined with an even better item system than before. The options stand to be friggin' staggering. This is where BASARA shines over its competition, bar none. The sheer variety of playstyles, combined with an item system that further adds on to that variety. So I say, before you start passing judgment on Yoshihiro another time, remember we still got a good deal to see of what he can do, in addition to what other things the game engine can offer. You may stand to be surprised.

Go to the official sites. Yoshihiro's personal item was made for him to rack up hits. I won't bother talking about the other +Hit items ecause anyone could reach FEVER! with them. |

HokutoNoBen, I only have the Heroes expansion, which from what I know removed a good amount of +Hit effect items. I usually equip Yoshihiro with the Fan of Consecutive Hits and his personal item, which as MasterofMusou mentioned, is a great help for him getting big combos fast. Anyway, if he gets new skills or have his old ones tweaked to be a bit more combo friendly, then I honestly don't mind if the priming system is removed. Ultimately, I guess this just comes down to my perception of the gameplay experience. If I'm not racking up a decent sized combo, I always get the feeling I'm doing something wrong. And don't get me started on Honda and Kennyo, most of the time, I can't combo my way out of a paper bag with those two.

Sooo...today is Famitsu day. As always, I'm waiting for some news. It's been a while now since the last Basara-related material there, so hopefully we'll get a new character? New Character + already known PC + 2 new NPCs? We'll try and stay awake untill something comes up tonight. |

I would love to be wrong, but I doubt we'll be seeing anything today in Famitsu. If anything, maybe just some gameplay update or something, new characters very unlikely |

there's your problem,SB is not all about combo,if you know capcom you should know that all characters are diverse, and several of them are so unique that you cannot play them the "normal" way yoshihiro and hondam is one such characters -yoshihiro's last skill, the thunder bullet can be adjusted to kill 10~50 peons a shot, depends on how many peons and how long you charge,in which you only need a few more in order to gain sengoku drive to activate his god mode(no lag in S string,no miss animation, and ultra high defense to tank for jigenryuu dangan, also ensures a OHKO result) no peons? that's where parrying comes in,many people neglect this feature and just combo like mad, which is not wrong, but its a shame to not use it,especially when timed correctly, can prevent you from getting hit&continue your combos if because of that he must sacrifice the basara fever and three BLACK weapon chests then i'm quite okay with that, there's still ways to gain exp&weapons you know?(EXP&secret clear from killing osaka&komaki hondam is usually quite high, not to mention that he drops golden chests IIRC,those are not something other characters casually waltz about, but for yoshihiro its pretty simple to do),note that kill counts also transfer to EXP..... -hondam's gameplan mainly revolves on utilizing its funnels&drill skills which when combined usually shaves a boss HP in half or more depending on position, plus the funnel enhanced S string are godly in strength and night impossible to block on certain angles, again ensuring a sure kill for combo counts?(not necessary for hondam, only for titles)his plasma cannon(PI)+the enemy gate&horn blower trick=crazy amount of hits, also doable with HEROES ieyasu, not convenient but almost every stage has those IF you're desperate to get high combos with him and lets not forget hondam's win button:the BASARA attack so yeah, forcing them to be a 10000 hit combo machine is like expecting zangief&potemkin to outcombo/play like chun li&chipp zanuff, its just not their "thing",try to accept it and adapt |

Tadakatsu is the best character in SB2 actually. With the right items, he'll destroy Sasuke and Kasuga all three times with one Ultimate BASARA attack. |

As fitting of the Sengoku's strongest, after all... About Famitsu, we would know if there were SB3 info by last issue's preview index, right? No one said anything about that, so maybe next week....it's been a month since Kanbei etc's disclosure, having another 3 chars now would feel so good..... |

wodash, I can't deny the facts you present but mind you, I'm not expecting the "tank characters" to have a "free 200+ Hit" skill like Yoshimoto's dance routine or Kojuuro's rapid slashes but at least more than just one skill that allows s-string -> skill -> s-string etc. without resetting the combo counter and without having to resort to items for extra hits or combo time. A good example would be Kennyo, his dropkick allows for such a possibility (takes ages though). As for Yoshihiro himself, I usually pick his thunder short jump to sword strike and the thunder bullet you mentioned (with extra combo time he can continue attacking without resetting the counter). Anyway, in this regard I'll just have to wait a see what Capcom has to offer on the matter. And you're absolutely right regarding parrying. I try to "implement" it as much as possible during my gameplay. It's especially awesome to pull it off in the middle of comboing dozens of mooks. And definitely a great set-up for Yoshihiro's OHKO during boss battles, even without drive I managed to finish off Yukimura and then Shingen with it in one blow, and this in Extreme difficulty. Oni Shimazu indeed. Regarding the chests, during those last item hunts everyone went through, I usually had the 5 orbs of good luck equipped, which practically turned every armor set gold. Surprisingly useful. As for kill count exp, I'm all over that part. If I don't kill at least 500 it's because the stage doesn't allow for it. As for Honda...yes, he kills stuff so fast that unless he's completely surrounded by considerably sturdy foes, one might as well forget comboing enemies. As for his Basara, my run through Ultimate Tournament with him said it all - Press Circle. Win game. Anyway, I wouldn't say I'm desperate, I just like to get the best out of every character, that's all. And that GG/SF comparison is rather hyperbolic regarding the opinion I was expressing. I'm not expecting them to be combo beasts. |

Any word form Koba's blog about tomorrow's update? I'm expecting Maggie's video, but it would be nice to hear it confirmed. Last week he did confirm Yoshitsugu's video a day before after all. |

I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's slightly different in this case. Firstly, yes, KOFXII was a pretty big disappointment. But for me it was closer to the situation Dynasty Warriors 6 found itself in; they'd spent so long since they actually upgraded the system as such ( Kof'96 I think was the last real update, perhaps '99 is closer ) that when they inevitably had to bring things up to scratch the rest of the game ( notably content that gamers would actually look for, like modes, or.... anything.... ). Basara doesn't immediately seem as far removed from it's prequel, graphically ( not overhauling a sprite based system at least ) or gameplay-wise, the multiple skill thing and the base system are the only things that spring to mind here but I've maybe missed something. I can at least hope with Basara 3, especially if some characters are disappointingly been made NPC's, that we are going to get some pretty cool new characters at least, giving us content if nothing else. I haven't been keeping up with Kobayashi's schedule on revealing info as such but we still have the best part of two/three months to go, and we have 13 characters at the moment, we could still end up with a decent 20 or so characters on par roughly with SB2. If half or so of them are new then we've got plenty of fresh stuff to keep us going until the ineviatable Heroes or DLC splurge begins. And am I the only person who liked Hulk-Ralf?
