Hey, thereīs a lot of BASARA-comedy.

Did you all forget Naoe Kanetsuguīs invincible moments? And as NDY said the lines of the soldiers and generals are funny too.

Also thereīs Kanbei and Tsuruhime who do more to relieve the seriousness a bit. Even Yoshitsugu makes some funny comments in his gameplay video. Itīs still there.

About Motochika, letīs wait for next week, before we judge him. I bet in Tsuruīs video, thereīs gonna be the old demon/pirate/aniki thing. ;)

But itīs going to become even more serious...

Cause my guess is that this time we might even experience some deaths to dramatize it even further, like in the anime. I can allready see Tadakatsuīs death and Ieyasuīs rage.

But this is a game about war after all. Itīs a story about war. And Keiji said it all in the BASARA anime at the end of the first great battle: War draws in everyone, if they want it or not.

This is the battle about the future of japan. Itīs a battle for peace, bonds, love, friendship, power, revenge, suffering, stability...everyone fights for a different reason. But in order to represent such strong feelings/ambitions, itīs necessary to sacrifice a bit of the comedy. Cause you canīt talk about war and then have Zabii singing and dancing in the backround. Itīd kill the feeling, the bad aftertaste that war and itīs sacrifices bring.

I bet during the story and especially at the end thereīs gonna be some funny moments again. I can see Yukimura standing at the head of the Takeda army and wanting to give some order and suddenly Shingen punches him with some OYAKATA-might, cause heīs finally cured.

But I like the seriousness. Iīve accepted the fact that some characters had to go because of it (thatīs why I still canīt fully accept Tsuruhime...hope the gameplay video will change that <_< )
and thanks to the "more adult story" itīll draw in more people.

Especially over here in the US and Europe. Without a proper story and motivation to play the game, itīs not going to etablish itself.

Oh and todayīs update really...sucked.
Letīs wait for the next week...

Why not? It shows her talent as an actress ^_^

Anyway, as I was saying before the update interrupted me, does anyone know what really happened to Shingen, and what part Ieyasu had in all of it?

HIIIIII guys It's been a while since the last time i posted but since Shingen and Sasuke have become NPCs I wonder who will take their place.I wonder why so many people hate Kanbei he's great he has a good moveset in my opinion. If Mitsuhide is out maybe Dosan Saito might take his place I know that he didn't make it to Sekihara but still it's Basara. Also who will be the person to replace Nobunaga? If Dosetsu,Masayuki,Nobuyuki,or Hanzo make it into the Sengoku Basara 3 I'm happy. Also hopefully Hisade Matsunaga is finally playable.

^shingen is still unconfirmed,he might not appear in the battlefield at all,not even as an NPC,people will still talk about him in game though

and about keiji not being funny?,not a chance,he's paired with muteki most of the time since he's in the uesugi now, which is probably why he looks less funny, because there's a funnier guy at his side....

Uuh, I don't think that Hanzo will be playable in SB3 because Ieyasu already have a powerful bodyguard/retainer, Hondam

I think he still has a chance. There is a difference between, er, let's just say retainers since Hondam is in his own league altogether, and ninja. While retainers are entirely devoted to their masters, ninja are generally more independent i.e. they work for money. So while Ieyasu does have a powerful and loyal bodyguard in Tadakatsu, there's no reason why he can't have a ninja to carry out reconnaissance and other jobs while Hondam protects his master.

Plus Hondam is a robot, with little personality to speak of. It would be nice I think to have a character who contrasts him.

I'm not sure. I honestly think both the Tokugawa and Ishida forces will only get two retainers this time around. One person per faction, but two for T and I, It makes sense to me, one Leader, one ratainer. Other retainers may be included but its difficult to say, They could be NPC, but I still think its been too long since the Tokugawa and Ishida armies have been revealed to introduce other retainers of those factions. I mean Hondam and Yoshi were shown right afterwards, and Uesugi were all shjown together... (though Sasuke and Kojuuro were delayed, so that does still leave some chance for moree T/I retainers, but they were already seen in screenshots, so that could be why they weren't shown right off the bat).

I think we'll be getting an update early April... But whos to say Famitsu might reveal info earlier? Like, say... March 30th? If thats true it wouldn't be too far off of the Mar.25th assumption, eitehr way, this wait hasn't been too bad, but I'm growing impatient, its fine time for some new characters to be revealed Kobayashi.

While I could go for seeing Hanzo represented in the BASARA series, I'd much rather Capcom do something interesting with the character.

Throughout many different types of games (including Musou), we've always seen Hanzo as some bad-ass Ninja. How about, for a nice change of pace, we make him more like he actually was in history? A samurai who KNEW Ninjutsu, but was not an actual ninja?

Even something like this could make for a wild character design and playstyle, while also keeping BASARA Hanzo separate from the other BASARA-nins, as well as how he appears in other franchises.

And that's what I'm hoping for the most. If some one who gets a lot of play like Hanzo FINALLY makes his splash in BASARA, I want him to be unique.

Well, you never know, Capcom has been able to surprise us on more than one occasion so far.

I've always wondered why Hanzo is portrayed as a ninja, his historical counterpart is never described as such. Was it SW that started it (like how they made Nene into a ninja) and that became how everybody saw him? I would like to see another ninja, because Fuuma doesn't seem to have a rival so far, and Basara as we know is all about rivalries. :sly:

I wonder, with the next update happening April, if we might get some silhouettes before the end of the month. At least then we could crack a guess at who we're expecting.

No. Hanzo has been portrayed as a Ninja for years. SW is relatively new, early 2000's I think. Hanzo was portrayed as a ninja back when plays were the highest form of entertainment. Though, I can't think of any portrayel of him where he wasn't full ninja, I'm sure there are some, but I don't know of any.

Someone doesn't know their Japanese pop culture. Go watch some old Sonny Chiba movies from the 70's!! Hanzou's been a ninja for far even longer than that though, like Akiro said, even in ye olde theatre. The man's name has become tied in with the very image of ninja. I hope I'm not seeing anti musou rhetoric in your statement though. :sly:

I want Hanzou, but I know we won't get him because this game is being presented .......poorly . Having more than 1 playable character per clan diminishes the others? Uh huh fine logic, Capcom. Suuure.

nah i want hanzo to stay a ninja even in basara i cant emagine hanzo as a plain samurai and another weird idea i thought of what if keiji's epic horse matsukaze appears as a playable character with a horse head and human body that would be so cool i can see basara doing that

Koen, your question regarded the reason for Shingen's illness, right?

IIRC, they said that the Takeda were defeated by Ieyasu as badly as Masamune was defeated my Mitsunari....but the reason for Shingen leaving the battlefield are unclear. They might have taken a page off history for this one.....

I hope you have watched School Rumble. If you think Tsuruhime like Tenma Tsukamoto, that'd be a much more ease (she ironically dressed up like a miko and wields a bow. Just like Tsuru). In fact, I'd say School Rumble was my first exposure to Koshimizu Ami's voice.

I don't mean to be sarcastic, but just due to Code Geass' popularity, don't always link Koshimizu Ami to her Kallen role (and even she bounces back from being mild-mannered to badass in that one role). She's had her share with roles of genki, shy or even psychotic. Kallen might be the most popular, but shouldn't be the one role that is her stereotype, she's not yet reaching the level of Wakamoto Norio in terms of being 'pigeonholed and awesome' (she's not yet pigeonholed... and she's STILL awesome)

Indeed many of the voice actors, and especially the voice actresses, have played so many different roles, that their vocal versatility is quite a feat.
Indeed I must confess I was quite surprised with some other characters voiced by a few elements in the Basara cast and still find it amusing how dispaired many of them are.

Regarding the Hanzo issue, while I'm counting on I&M getting an extra hand each due to their status, I have the impression our friend Hanzo won't be one of them.
I may be mistaken but I always thought the Basara was bent on not including him, perhaps as means to show they can make a product based on the era and deliberately exclude one of it's most prominent figures. I may be mistaken, of course.

I still question such, though.

I mean, assuming Kotaro is still around (and he's GOTTA be, we'd be completely out of ninjas otherwise! :hehe: ), then Kotaro would need something to keep him relevant to the storyline to some degree. And the easy way is to give him a real rival through, ideally, Hanzo (since HEROES basically built up that Sasuke and Kasuga were no real match for Kotaro, any way).

Machine-samurai-man who knows Ninjutsu vs. a true-to-life Ninja who is among the best of his craft. I could definitely dig that. ^_^

I've never thought of Kotaro as needing an anchor to keep him in Basara. I think his lack of connections, lack of rival, lack of self purpose, is what makes him such an interesting character. He doesn't need a reason to fight, he just kills for the kill, the order he was given, or maybe even just for the sake of killing. A target is a target to him, It makes no difference, he'll just kill them and move one. I doesn't need a reason to fight or a rival.

Not saying I don't want to see anotehr ninja and have the two ninja of the game duke it out, because that would be cool, I just don't think Kotaro needs it to flesh out his character or anchor him down, plus, how can he have a reason or rival if he doesn't speak?

I like Kotaro as his is now, I don't see any reason why they should try to make him deeper of a character.

@Darkmantistalon: If Capcom did that... I think that actually would make me not want to buy th game.

I understand what about Kotaro not being able to speak ,but still You don't need to speak in order to have a rival. Also I always wondered why Sengoku Basara never allows you to mount horses like in Samurai warriors.

I believe there are several stages in SB2/SB2H where you could find a horse and ride it.

As for Kotaro, he is good the way he is. The only thing I wanna know is the reason why he never speaks.

A friend of mine came up with the theory that he had his vocal chords cut to prevent him ever spilling information. Her other theory was that he made a pact with the devil (disguised as Hisahide), trading his voice for his awesome ninja powers. As interesting as the second one sounds, I think I prefer the first one. :hehe:

No, the second game definitely has horses. They're not unqiue to the characters like in SW and DW, but you can still mount and ride them.

Not sure I'm keen on the idea of Hanzo being a robot. It limits character development dreadfully. -_-

Agreed, but I think "Cyborg" may the term people here are looking for. Part human and part machine, which is something I'd gladly welcome. A "Robot", on the other hand, would be a bad move IMO. It'd be like mixng Kotarou and Hondam together... both of which can't talk! :hehe:

Though, I'm with Ben here. Hanzou as a ninja has been done many times before, and I have a feeling Capcom may finally stand up against the idea. From what I've played, most historic games don't really comment on Kanbei's inprisonment, but yet, his BASARA counterpart's design, story and weapon all revolve around it, so I'm not having too hard of a time imagining Hanzou as something other than a ninja.

Still, Katarou is leauges ahead of Sasuke and Kasuga, so giving him a true rival, one that may get him to grunt in pain, or even curse, may be in Koba's interest. Well, wether hes a samurai or a ninja, I'm all for the cyborg idea. The design, the weapon possibilities and such could be really creative and set him apart from the rest of the cast.

It'd also be interesting to see how his story and personality would played out. I remember Koba stating it wasn't Ieyasu personally who launched the attack on Shikoku, so perhaps Hanzo had a hand in it? As for personality, if he truly did act on Shikoku, perhaps hes one who believes in "absolute justice"? DK should know what I'm refering to. Though, a character similar to Akainu... I wouldn't be sure wether I'd hate him or not...

Anyway, with another update passed, just a little longer until we get our long awaited info, and even less until we see Tsuru's video. I'm hoping we'll see a new stage, and I'm thinking, like other members, we'll be getting Aniki's :sly:
