@Master Sima Yi- NPC means NON Playable Character. Free Mode only is a horse of a different color I'm afraid. Personally I'd rather FMO than NPC... because then at least you'd get to play with them, as opposed to looking at them and wishing you could play them.
I know what it means. It's just that there's amazingly much of them. And I have seen numerous times that Japanese video game producers but something on there, but they actually mean another thing.

Yep, you´re right BDS.

I found the first bit exciting, since it shows that Motochika got a major improvement, since that "anchor throw and pull move" got a huge boost with the fact that it´s quicker, pulls in enemys and even can be used as a combo. Also the charge up move now does damage while charging up and he slowly moves, making it harder for the enemy to constantly interrupt it.

But the rest left me cold. After that dissapointing news, I thought, at least we´ll see Aniki face off against someone new (the recenlty revealed Oichi, Mitsukai and Kobuggy or the Maeda couple), since they kept his video for so long.
What is so secret about his video that they couldn´t show it sooner?
Now that there is the possible inclusion of an Amago representive thanks to the Gassan Toda castle information provided by NDY, I understand why they keep Motonari´s video for later, since he probably faces off against his new rival.
But after all that wait, he fights Masamune? Is that a secret? Because of the horses?

Instead of cutting characters, they should´ve cut that part, since the horse riding looks as boring and useless as allways.
And now it even ruined Masamune´s stage...stupid chasing scene, hated it in SB/DK and that hasn´t changed. Hope he has a second stage with flame thrower dragon statues...loved those.

Though, I won´t rant anymore. NDY has gotten my hopes up once again. The more I read Yukimori´s profile, the more I want him in. The warrior known as the crescent moon samurai, famous for his deer antler helmet, calling himself son of the moon, who vowed that he´d revenge his lord´s clan and to never give up.

Now if they can´t make a cool BASARA character out of that, I´ll give up all hope for BASARA 3.

Though it could be a Amago (Amako) like Haruhisa, Yoshihisa
or Katsuhisa...but their profiles don´t sound that exciting to me. -_-

Anyone else notice in Aniki's video the soldiers tossing their swords like boomerangs? Looks like the comedy aspect is still here, and not only the drama and angst.

Wait, wait, wait...do you think it´s a farce?

Is this some kind of game were the hero turns out to be the villain?

Is Ieyasu the one that killed Hideyoshi just for power, attacked and even DESTROYED as Motochika said, Shikoku for more land and now even took Matsu hostage to make a NPC fighting?

So Ieyasu is now the one who does the kidnapping?

I hope they show the "bad" eastern officer who does all that stuff.

I mean Ieyasu isn´t the kind of guy who would kidnap someone or destroy Motochika´s home. His honor as a Mikawa warrior wouldn´t allow for such things.

The Tokugawa have been shunned for over 2 games, now that he represents the light, don´t turn that around Koba, for a cheap story twist :hmmm:

EDIT:

Awwwww....so cute, Mitsuhide´s laugh is back. Now I´m not angry about his inclusion as a NPC anymore.

All the characters I love are either unplayable, dead or have been kidnapped...

Wait...I like Ieyasu and he stayed a NPC in SB2 and constantly was kidnapped. Now Matsu is the NPC and is getting kidnapped?

Why are you doing this to my favourite characters Koba? What´s so funny about kidnapping someone?
Reading that made me think: What if instead of it being some "evil person" IN the Tokugawa it was someone like Hisahide or another grand schemer behind all the bad stuff the "Tokugawa" are doing?

IDK what his end goal would be yet but it seems like something Hisahide would do: Killing Hideyoshi and framing Ieyasu, destroying Shikoku and framing Ieyasu, then kidnapping Matsu and again framing Ieyasu. Maybe Hisahide felt Hideyoshi was a failure as ruler and Ieyasu would make a better one so he put this into action in order to strengthen up Ieyasu and place him in that role. *shrug* Just a random idea I had reading your post.

Now that I think about it, in one of the trailers I remember seeing Ieyasu facing off against Masamune, which got me thinking, since I dont think Ieyasu has the reach of Hideyoshi, how will he fight on a horse? I thought it would be awesome if instead he rode on Tadakatsu surf style instead, what do you guys think?

I really liked the Motochika video. I liked how they improved the speed / efficiency of his moveset / skills and he just overall sees much better now.

Once again thanks to BK for the scan, Jsun for the youtube upload and renders (by the way how do you rip those from the website anyways? There are some pictured I would like to rip from there myself.), NDY for the translations, and DK for the subs. Despite all the mood swings between hype and negativity this board has, joining it has helped me get so much more hype for the game thanks to all you guys great work and the fun speculation we have when everyone isn't all gloomy and wishing doom to Kobayashi, lol.

Waiting for basara news has just been made easier. There's a ps3 jrpg from compile hearts that's in development. The twist is the characters in the game are ... well game consoles. Xbox 360, wii and ps3 and there's some speculation that PC might be a boss in the game.

Dunno too much about it cuz i just found out about this now. THe game is called Neptune. PS. Sorry for off topic but this was just too jokes.

Guess which is which  Oh ya.. apparently you can summon game characters from their respective consoles.

I really liked Motochika's vid. I just wished there was something more revealing. He looks better overall. The horse thing doesn't really bother me that much. I mean, it seems like with it, the battle will flow and progress. And damn, the Date can really put up a fight. I really wish they would show the new sword clash thing in gameplay. One of the screenshots on the official website showed that it will BASARA's version of the rapid square button thing form SW and DW.

I love Kobayakawa's voice. It matches him, I know everybody else said that, but it's true. Tenkai is definitely awesome. I am sad he is NPC. I wonder if he'll have the same moveset as Mitsuhide.

In Motochika's vid, I noticed that the Date are very........persistent. They kept coming at him, hard. It looks like there will be some more challenge than I've seen in SB2H!

Um, I was just wondering......How do you unlock personal items in SB2H??

NEW SMILIES:

Well, I think if Koba meant to say 'FMO' instead of 'NPCs', but is purposefully holding out on correcting that 'mistake', then he's an asshole. Then again, this is Koba... not sure why any of us would have been surprised by now.

As there are no gameplay footage of them yet, I severely doubt they're playable... hence the title NPC.

Edit: Meh, I'm mostly over it. What good is brooding about the sheer amount of NPCs going to do but sour the game even more? Oh well...

Uh, NPC generally means what it stands for. Non-Player characters. Meaning there is no way to play as these characters. Info batches would have told us if they were FMO characters, plus we'd still get their skills on the character updates. Sorry guys, but holding out for something like that will only result in dissapointment. BASARA, wether people like it or not, is known for its NPCs. Every game has had at least one.

SB - Ieyasu, Motochika, Motonari, Ujimasa and Yoshimoto
SB2 - Kennyo, Nagamasa, Oichi, Kotarou, Kojuurou, Ujimasa, Ieyasu and Yoshimoto
SB2H - Hisahide

This sadly won't be any different. I personally don't mind a few NPCs. As wodash stated, it gives us a glimpse of future playable characters, but when they go over board, and start NPCing worthwhile characters, it really gets to me :/

Anyway, glad to hear more evidence for an Amago rep to join the cast. But Gassan Toda... am I alone in hoping its the second siege, rather than the first? Not only would it be closer to Sekigahara, time wise, but it also gives Shikanosuke more of a shot than Haruhisa. Haruhisa was great, and I'd be totally satisfied if he was our Amago rep, but give me a choice between him or "The deer", Shikanosuke wins it for me. Hmm... maybe one of us should create a Discuss the character thread for him... I have some story and design ideas I'm itchin' to get off my chest :sly:

I have to say that today really was a exceptional update, in that we got so much out of the way. Not only Kobayakawa and Mitsukai's voices but Matsu and Toshiie up as well, together with Aniki's video. I'm mostly just pleasantly surprised that we got them both today, and not pushing it up to next week. Had it been a month ago that's exactly what would have happened. As such I think it's safe to assume that we finally will be getting a better pattern of updates.

So, I loved Aniki's video. I don't really see why people seem so tepid towards it. Sure, the horseback thing certainly feels a bit off, but I can dig it. After all there were some of that in Masamune's stage in SB2 as well. My favorite bit was easily his new anchor charge/drop that took out that entire base in a single hit. My jaw literally hit the floor at that move.

The voices satisfied me as well. Though I have to say that Mitsukai sounds a bit ridiculous. I mean, he can't even make it through a single sentence as a "monk" with a straight face. I guess that's why he wears that mask. So that people can't tell how much he's laughing at everything he's saying.

So the Amago is starting to surface eh? Quick aside, does anyone actually think that The Deer is actually a cool name? The Crescent Samurai, I can totally get behind. But The Deer? That sounds pretty...stupid. Look, I know Honda in SW wears antlers but I still think that it looks stupid. Is it just me?

Well, maybe if he was referred to by his true name Yukimori they could avoid the whole "Deer" theme and concentrate on the "Crescent Samurai"?

Makes me think of Cai Wenji from Strikeforce :hehe:

Um, what trailer did you see that in? Masamune is my favorite character ever, and I like the Western side more. So if he was on his own side or the Western side, at some point, that would be so awesome.

I could see a stage where Kojurro and Masamune face off against all of the Eastern officers and pwn them all  . Pushing them back to Sekigahara, leading to the final battle, in one of the branching story lines.

The deer thing refers to how the Shika in Yamanaka Shikanosuke is Japanese for deer, and in a very publicized duel during the Gassantoda siege with a strong Mouri warrior, the Mouri guy taunted Shikanosuke that beating him would be like a wolf taking down a deer. After killing the guy easily, Shikanosuke declared to everyone watching that "The deer has slain the wolf!"

The Crescent Moon Samurai is his more well-known nickname though.

I notice that the Mouri are getting a lot of their old enemies in the game, and by old I mean some before Nobunaga's time(Tsuruhime) or before Honnoji(Amago anyone.)

It's an odd but interesting juxtaposition to have the Mouri's western conflicts happening concurrent with Sekigahara...

While it is a sweet move, you do realize that the reason it had such a huge explosion is because he killed the base captain with it right? The same effect has been used in many of the vids to skyrocket the combo count and get a cool explosion in there lol.

Of course, I realize that. It's not really the "explosion" that I was referring to but the fact that the entire base was decimated by that move. You can see it having about 80% health just before the anchor is thrown.

Ah, I see. Thanks for setting me straight. Now I'm actually leaning more towards referring to him as The Deer. I just thought it was the fact that he wore antlers on his helmet, which seemed a bit lacking. Just the thought of it makes me snicker a bit.

*Shikanosuke glues antlers to his helmet*
Shikanosuke: Times are growing harder. The battles are reaping larger and larger causalities on both sides. Something needs to be done. Somebody...has to step forward. From this day forward, I will be known as....

Ah gotcha, just double checking lol. Indeed tho, the move looks awesome. I might have to play with him first just to continue my streak of Aniki being the first guy I try in every BASARA game I play (2, 2H, and X).
