I have pretty much come up with conclusions to the way characters are being decided who's PC and not PC.

Main Characters - Ieyasu Tokugawa, Masamune Date, Mitsunari Ishida and Yukimura = PC

Clan Supporting Characters - Kasuga, Kojuuro Katakura, Matsu Maeda, Sarutobi Sasuke = NPC. These characters will also help people buy the inevitable expantion.

Characters for fans - Kotaro Fuma, Motonari Mori, Oichi, Tadakatsu Honda = PC. Motonari should be dead at this point, but It'd be hard to make him stand alone.

Integral Clan leaders - Motochika Chosokabe, Yoshihiro Shimazu = PC.

Story integral/related characters - Kanbei Kuroda, Keiji Maeda, Otani Yoshitsugu = PC. Necessary for PC status.

New, 'filler' characters - Magoichi Saika, Tsuruhime = PC. Simply to increase gender and lost weapons.

Indirect new characters to serve for expantion - Kobayakawa, 'Tenkai', Yoshiaki Mogami = NPC.

Indirect clan leaders for expantion - Kenshin Uesugi, Toshiie Maeda, Ujimasa Hojo = NPC. Certain enough to make people want to but the expantion.

I hope people can understand where I'm coming from  . If I was to guess, Itsuki is certain of PC status. She can't stand alone, she screams PC in general, and she's a girl, I'd say she's guaranteed.

again... what the hell is everyone talking about an expansion?

has there been word of an expansion?

also, i checked that topic about everything known about the game so far... all i saw was a a list of the known new/returning characters... i can get the same info on wikipedia... combined with a bunch of squares... which i assume is a text style/language my computer cant comprehend...

i dont think i saw anything else on it...

...so, can someone PLEASE give me a direct link to where capcom says they'll be making an expansion for this game?

all i see are people being extremely ignorant and hopeful for something that, as far as i know, doesnt even exist and no proof that capcom plans on making it exist...

...sorry for my bad mood... just too many bad things happening to me lately, but thats more of a personal thing and not meant for this board, so i cant explain... just take my bad mood and try to get over it... cause it isnt going away anytime soon. *sigh*

Well...the site really looks like itīll continue in a 1 PC - 2 NPCs update style since five times would make a total of 20 playables and 20 NPCs...now it looks like a race.

The PCs are in the lead, but itīs going to be interesting who wins in the end. Well...thanks to Naoe Kanetsugu, the NPCs would WIN with 21 NPCs!!!

I just hope they really make everyone playable in the expansion and not like SB2:H were they gave us some clone movesets and two skill characters since they just werenīt able to PCify so many NPCs

But damn, that picture were Mitsukai held his sythes behind his back...that looks so awesome.

I can allready imagine the cutscene:

Masamune: "Mitsuhide, who are you trying to fool? I can hear that sick laugh of yours miles away!"

Mitsuhide: "Iīm Tenaki, I donīt know the person you are talking about...mhhahaha..."

Masamune: "You even use your sythes!"

*puts sythes behind back and smiles*

Mitsuhide: "Which syhtes?"

Yukimura: "Unbelievable. Thatīs Tenkai of the Kobayakawa army!!!"

So that means, we wonīt get new characters next week? So we might get something again in the week of 28th April?

@ZeroTheWarrior:

They havenīt announced it, but facts are:

CAPCOM released Sengoku BASARA 2 HEROES in November 29, 2007.

Sengoku BASARA 3 comes out, the same day as Sengoku BASARA 2 came out.

Resident Evil 5 got a "Gold Edition" Expansion.

Monster Hunter got the "Unite" Expansion.

Street Fighter IV got the "Super" Expansion.

Also, in 3 years development time, they couldīve easily made every character return, give us an epic story and even add new characters.
But then no one would have a reason to buy the expansion, since it would probably only feature two or three new characters.

Thus they create a scenario and take hostages in form of NPCs. I mean isnīt it obvious, when the 3rd and 4th popular characters (Kojuuro and Sasuke) are made a NPC and the 2nd most wanted character in the characters poll (Mitsunari was the first and is in) Naoe Kanetsugu got his love helmet, gets his own cutscene, but stays a generic NPC....

If they try to hide the fact that they are releasing an expansion but do all that obvious stuff to make us spend more money, then I know why they think that no one would recognize Mitsuhide.

So we can probably expect some sort of expansion or DLC around November/December 2010 - January/February/March 2011.

Zero, we all (more or less) think that there's going to be an expansion because the same thing happened before (Sengoku Basara 2 -> Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes).

There were 8 NPCs in Sengoku Basara 2, and they all became playable (although gimped) in SB2H.

Seeing so many NPCs in SB3 makes us think that they are just a ploy (well, of course production costs factor in too) to make us buy the eventual Sengoku Basara 3 Heroes too. Hell, it'd be weird if they didn't do it...

Anyway, Capcom hasn't confirmed it yet, but trust us, it will be announced. Tenkai/Mitsuhide is one of the most popular characters: he will surely shine in SB3 (how could he not? He's Mitsuhide! He was amazing even in SBBH!), and become playable in SB3H....

In the end, we can only cross our fingers. (I want to play as Yoshiaki so bad...Nagamasa....Nobunaga...Gorillaman....)

Dude, it's pure speculation  . Everybody on this forum 'KNOWS' there hasn't been an official word on an expantion, but after the current situation, we can pretty much assume there will be an expantion. As much as there are not many signs to its existence right now, there is certainly no signs against it right now. It's not ignorant to have that kind of discussion, plus, people need some hope after what some are feeling about the game right now, I for one have took it really well so far. Just think more before you post something as negative like this on a public forum.

EDIT: Sorry if this seems a bit angry. Just that this topic is sooo down right now :/ .

Hey, just for those who I remember were unhappy with Hideaki's outfit. This probably won't change your minds, but I think it's based on an actual coat that the real Hideaki wore.

Looks like maybe Capcom did a little research.

Oi, oi, oi.

I made a passable joke back then, how can someone be down now?

Also, I know why Motonari slapped Hideaki. He probably took old man Motonariīs helmet and cooked it, cause he thought it was some kind of rare vegetable

Cheer up people. There are games out there, like The last Guardian, where people still donīt know when it comes out. (yes...Iīm one of them...why is there nothing new on it... )

Gran Tourismo 5 Prologue was out a long time ago but thereīs still no sign of the main game.

We know when itīll come out and thus can predict that the expansion will follow soon. Letīs be happy about the full prized appetizer called BASARA 3 and after that we can dig into new characters like Hideaki, Yoshiaki (hopefully a new character called Naoe Kanetsugu) and play as characters like Mitsuhide, Kenshin, Kojuuro, etc.

Heck, even if itīs a 20 playable characters, 21 NPCs roster, that means that so many characters are playable in the expansion or DLC.

I mean with so many NPCs, thereīs gotta be something for them to be playable.

BTW, when was the HEROES expansion of SB2 announced ? It wasnīt that late wasnīt it

Since the second season of the anime will probably end around the end of september itīd be a nice point to announce the expansion in the last episode, wouldnīt it? With a nice trailer of a playable Yoshiaki to "heato up!" and then bring it out around November/December.

Believe me. I was right with the Wii/PS3 crossover and was right with Oichi being playable and even predicted Mogami Yoshiaki. Thatīs why I got my hopes up so much...

But believe me, good BASARA times will follow. We have BASARA 3 as an appetizer (at least those who buy it), the second season of the anime and sometime after that the expansion.

I still believe thereīs hope. If not, Iīll screw BASARA and just wait for Last Guardian. At least it doesnīt promise and then doesnīt deliever. The trailer was all gameplay, no cheating like telling us about a huge roster, while forgetting to say, that half of them are Ladyīs and Trishīs and some of the characters are Neroīs.

Kobayashi canīt ruin it all. He may be a powerfull troll, but he canīt destory Tsuchiīs wonderfull characters.

Well, at least your mood has picked up. I like the idea that Hideaki thought Mouri's hat was an okra. Nobody touches the hat. Nobody *smack*

But yeah, I know Motonari is a cold hearted pr*ck and all, but isn't b*tch slapping some poor sap like Hideaki going a bit far? Or maybe he's just that goddamn annoying.

I saw your updates to his moves NDY, but didn't all 3 ninjas have a counter in SB2H or was it just Sasuke and Kasuga?

nope,he never got one in SB2H,and i bet my money the one fuuma got here is nowhere as effective "kill everything with auto counter while you perform something else" skill that sasuke&kasuga has since it has a starting animation and he can't do jack while performing it...

and since his BASARA attack is unchanged........lets just hope they crank up the damage like 2~3 times than it was in SB2H or else.......

Ah thank you for the correction, it was my mistake then. He is one of the few characters I have yet to play as (friends always used him when we did Co-Op Conquest), but I thought I remembered seeing him do that. My apologizes for doubting your info NDY.

Also I do agree in hoping his BASARA's attack power is upgraded.

I think I may build some sort of SB3 bunker to hide in while the war rages on. Anyone is welcome to join me if they so wish.

I have a 100% positive and excited outlook for this game still and I don't think anything they announce would be able to change that fact. I will happily join you in that bunker :P .

AdawgDaFAB.

Not even the day, were Hisahide is announced NPC and Itsuki playable?

You might be hard enough to go back in time with me. But your safety is not guaranteed.

Joke aside, I do hope that the "counter" move is not as lame as in former installments. Afterall this is a game for high speed actions and combos, not some boring "wait till the AI finally attacks you" skill or "press the skill button all the time in hope someone attacks you".

Also, they really need to power up Kotaroīs BASARA. When I played as him I NEVER used his BASARA, since it was just a waste of time, since I could just use his S-string and would get the same effect <_<

Actually DK, I have said before I'm a big Itsuki fan. You probably didn't notice, lol, but yeah I would be ecstatic if Itsuki was announced playable. I love her moveset and she is usually the first character I try to make in the Koei games when I want to tinker with the CAW system to see how versatile the creation tools are. She was one of my most used characters in SB2H, all of the Ice users where actually. I even ... <__< ... >__> ... enjoyed her dub voice in Devil Kings O_O! Truthfully, I would STILL be excited and counting down the days to July 29 even if the entire rest of the to be revealed roster are NPCs. I know it won't happen, but I really just want to play and enjoy the game so nothing will curtail my excitement for that. Also, even though it would be better to have more PCs, at least more NPCs still = more cool stages to play through and characters interwoven in the PC's stories so it isn't ALL negative. Of course, the more PCs we do get the better  .

As I said, I like Kennyo and Itsuki too.

Wouldnīt mind if they are playable.

But itīs still Matsunaga Hisahide (that guy snaps his finger and everything blows up. awesome) over Itsuki (she has pedo-fanboys. awesome)

But letīs not talk about such a scenario. If Hisahide really is a NPC and Itsuki, Zabii and the likes are playable...then not even the allmighty CAPCOM logo can save Kobayashi

While I'm still not 100% positive or optimistic about this game, especially if it's only an appetizer, I doubt things could really get much worse. I'm still hesistant on which version to buy; while I'd rather buy American because at least I'd understand what's going on, I have a feeling it won't sell well enough in the states to warrant a dub over if there is an expansion.

So, I'll probably wait. If they do announce an expansion and it's Japanese only, then I'll import it... that way I won't waste money on an American appetizer, when I could simply wait for the Japanese main course (and just read guides online as to WTF they're saying).

That's nothing special.

NHK and Koei both portrayed him with his coat when they had Hideaki make appearances but at least they didn't make him look like a douchebag 'tard who I want to punch in the face.

Oh god,That screenshot of Mori slapping Hideaki.

I'm sorry but I have to say this, just for the lulz, but at first I thought Motonari threw a snowball at Hideaki's face and I lol'd so much. :XD .

But then I saw Mouri's hand in the corner and I realized it was a slap.

But MAN, I wish he did. THAT would have been the best cutscene in the game ever!

Oh...crap...

July 27, 2006 was the release date of Sengoku BASARA 2.
The HEROES expansion came out on November 29, 2007.

I thought it came out half a year, after SB2...but itīs allmost 1 and a half year later. -_-

Well, Street Fighter IV came out on February 12, 2009 in japan.
The "Super" expansion came out on April 28, 2010. (or will come out)

Thatīs a one year wait, with each one

Great. Now thatīs promising.

Which is the reason I'll most likely be getting the game anyway. At least it (along with Final Fantasy XIII and Samurai Warriors 3) will keep me occupied until the expansion comes out, no matter what's wrong with it.

Also Heroes won't have the same content that SB3 will.
Sure it will have more characters, but at least half wont have stories and will just be conquest mode only characters. So I think its way better to just buy SB3, its not even that bad, I'll have fun, and hoepfully get to play online with some of you. :shifty:

Plus, besides the obvious characters, I;m guessing most of the NPCs from now on will be the Joke characters, not saying they're bad characters, just not taken seriously. Like Kobayakawa and Yoshiaki.

And lol at Kobayakawa's screenies. Mitsuhide is so badass, and Moto should'nt be beating his little grandson like that. XD

My only real worry is not seeing any more NEW playable characters. As of right now, the game is definitely worth a purchase for me, but out of all the new characters, only Mitsunari, Kanbei, and the upgraded Ieyasu are the only three I'm SUPER psyched about maxing out (I definitely want to try Magoichi and Yoshitsugu, but the jury's still out on those two for me). And I'm still definitely going to max Masamune, Motochika, Motonari, Keiji, and probably Oichi, Kotaro, and the old man as well.

That's a hell of a lot of game time for me, but there is still that nagging feeling of wanting more NEWNESS. I mean I've already maxed out those other characters in 2 or 3 different games so far, so unless there is a lot of freshness to their skills/weapons/costumes/etc. my enjoyment can only go so far.

So here's hoping that if at worst we only see 5 or so new characters, we get at least 3 brand new ones

Actually, I'm thinking out of all the previous characters, no more will be playable, but NPC instead. I really believe that only Hisahide will make it through, but that may just be the fan in me in denial. Sadly, I think Musashi may sit this one out. Thats not to say Kojiro wont be in. He still has a chance, Kobayashi might just be waiting to find a way to improve Musashi.

I aree, the game is lacking newness, I like the new characters so far, the only one I'm iffy about is Tsuru, but I've yet to play her so I can't pass full judgement on her. But none of the new characters jump out at me, they all look cool, but I don't see any that could be a potentially favourite character. =/

Thatīs why Iīm so dissapointed.

In Devil Kings I wanted to play as Reaper/Mitsuhide.
In Sengoku BASARA 2 I wanted to play as Kennyo(yeah, Iīm a freak)/Kotaro
In Sengoku BASARA 2 Heroes I wanted to play as Hisahide.

Normally Iīm pissed if the new characters are NPCs...but this time, the characters I want to play as and are unplayable, are characters that were allready playable

In SB3...none of the new characters really itches me to play 100 of hours with him. Of course they are awesome, especially Mistunari and striped pantsu mustache man...you gotta love the Sengoku Waluigi...but...they lack something...

And Akiro, thatīs what Iīm going to do. Get SB3 AND the Hereos version. Maybe theyīll make a pack again were both are in and I only have to pay around 35€ for BOTH.

Wonīt give them more money than itīs worth for now. Hisahide canīt save it this time -_-

I think that the main reason I'm gonna get SB3 no matter what because of the stories. I only have SB2H, and before I got it I didn't realize that there would only be three real stories, and my favorite characters would only have 2 or 3 story missions. That's what I was disappointed about because I think that it's the QUALITY not the QUANTITY. I would've gladly taken the NPC's over barely having any stories at all. I had the most fun I ever had playing the Masamune gaiden story. And that was short.

So, I think that I really need some story this time.

I really wish that we didn't lose content with the expansion. It should be DLC, IMO. I think this because, well then I can keep the my story. And it couldn't be THAT much just to make some awesome characters playable, right? I think Koei has the jump on expansions. I don't lose anything. Well, I did for SW1, but for SW2, that was great. I loved it. That's, what kept me playing that game for so long.

(P.S., I hope Masamune slices off Mogami's mustache)

Donīt you dare to touch that mustache, one-eyed brat. Iīm serious :ph43r:

He wouldnīt be striped pantsu mustache man, anymore.

Well, itīs not that you "lose" everything, itīs not there to begin with.
Super Street Fighter does a great job since you get all the characters + all the content that was on SFIV.

The expansion is just there to expand the main game, afterall.
So if you wanna play Keijiīs story, you gotta buy SB3.
If you wanna play as Mogami Yoshiaki, you gotta play the possible expansion.

While I am of course upset about all the NPCs, what bothers me is the pure negativity from a lot of people that its SOLELY to make an expansion and that paying extra for an expansion can only be considered cheating the fans and milking us, etc. But the fact of the matter is, in terms of SB2 and Heroes, BOTH of those games were well worth the money. I personally put in at least 60 hours on each game and I'm the type of person who generally tends to get very bored very quickly (I also have a ton of games to play at any one time, so I don't stay with one very long anyway)

I'm sure when SB2 came out people complained about the NPCs as well, and when they announced heroes they probably complained that they were being milked for their cash, but Heroes ultimately delivered with a bunch of extra modes, characters, costumes, etc. And if you really think all of that stuff should have been added to SB2 to begin with, you really don't understand anything about game development and how costly it is.

I'm not saying that it's never the case that companies use dlc and such to scam extra dollars out of people, but it isn't ALWAYS the case either. SB2 and SB2H really were two games that delivered a lot of content and were worth the price in my opinion, so the fact that it may happen again I don't think I should look on with pure negativity. I hope others feel the same way

Yep, itīs cheating.

But in SB2 it wasnīt that obvious. I mean look at it now. We have more NPCs than in SB2 allready. Favourites are turned into NPCs, new characters are turned into NPCs.

Why? To milk us.

Is it a bad thing? Yes and no.
Consumer: Yes.
Company: No.

Itīs the same as the DLC issue. Wanna play the versus mode of Resident Evil 5 thatīs allready on the disc? Pay for it.
Wanna play as Darth Vader or Yoda in Soul Calibur IV who are allready on the disc? Pay for it.

So you can make out of a 70 bucks purchuase at least a 100 bucks.
Thatīs buisness. Now they made sure that you all pay for the main game and buy the expansion or the DLC.

Just like the Mass Effect 2 DLC. Or to a greater extent the outreagous Modern Warfare 2 map pack. Itīs a blunt rip-off.

But as long as people buy it, itīll continue. But hey, everyone should know how to spend their money themselves. If itīs okay for them, be their guest. Someone has to pay for their car.

EDTI:

BTW, SB2 and HEROES was awesome...

But in SB3 itīs just so obvious...again...itīs like they are not even trying to hide it...they just pull of a "Tenkai".

And since those recent "rip offs" are just common, I wonīt support it anymore. Activion will be the first to learn their lesson, when hopefully no one buys that damn map pack. I mean there are millions complaining. I hope not everyone is a hypocrit.
