What have I and HnB talked about new and better release strategies for the west.

We´re not even PR experts, but the things we said are human logic.
Everyone should now, what not and what to do.
I think that's one of the main issues. The game had a really bad presentation sprinkled with overall unpleasantry.

After seeing the "Skill Trailer", it got me wondering - how many of you think that it would have been a lot more beneficial for the game, publicity-wise, if that were the trailer shown at Captivate, instead of Sengoku Basara - Hammy Heroes that we got?

If we put aside our status as Basara fans, along with our own disappointment, objectively SBSH was still probably the weakest title shown at Captivate.
Even though the gaming press is mostly comprised of morons, fact is, a lot of people pay attention to they have to say and honestly, they didn't sound too impressed: "Yeah, there's a guy with 6 swords, I guess that's kinda cool and you get to mash square."
If Koba doesn't step up on the publicity, this game is going to flop hard among mainstream consumers. Sure, we're all likely get it and might nag a friend or two to buy it as well, but I doubt that will make for awesome sales.
That said, Capcom won't take long to find their black sheep.

Weapon Upgrade System:

I don't know if someone brought this up yet, but I just read this in a Kotaku article:

"Each time you defeat a stage boss you take over that part of Japan in the fiction of the game. Once a territory is captured you can use the natural resources of that region to upgrade your weapons as well."

So...we upgrade weapons now instead of having 8 increasingly powerful weapons? I don't know if I like the sound of this or not, to be honest with you. On the one hand it could be fun powering up weapons and could maybe add uniqueness as to how we each play as a character. On the other hand they better not screw us out of having at least 8 different over-the-top weapon skins.

Thanks for sharing the info robotzombie! I didn't feel like reading those articles, it seemed like the same old smae old.

Well, that new weapon system is pretty interesting, I like the sound of it, but upgrading doesn't mean no new skins. I hope we get a large amount of skins that change after oh so many upgrades, but I (sadly) don't think we'll be seeing eight since SB3 is the uctting blcok game of the series. Hopefull we get eight and joke weapons too. :shifty:

I would personally love an upgrade system. I could see it, with Mitsunari's sword becoming more powerful with every battle. And with Masamune's swords going from blank swords, to blue flamed ones, heh heh. I think it would be great. I personally don't like the idea of money that much in games, but in BASARA it worked. But, this would work even better.

Natural Resources?? Maybe it's like, if you conquer a place that had an earth element, you could call in a landslide to take out a base. That would be cool. Or, maybe if your using a character that has that same element, it adds the element to EVERY attack. Like with Masamune, maybe with every attack (for a limited time, or not.... ) a bolt of lightning would strike down, hurting multiple enemies. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

ALL HAIL THE ONE EYED DRAGON

EDIT: Guys, we might have missed something, BIG. In just about every interview I've read, it's said that there are going to be 35 stages. Just about every stage, is a CHARACTERS. This means there could be 34 characters to play as in the expansion! One stage has to be Sekigahara, and the rest of them can't just be random, right? 10 random stages, doesn't seem likely.

EDIT 2: The update for Motonari's vid is on the 28th. Today is the 22nd( in the US). Is there any reason why his vid is pushed up a day? Is there something going on? Like a secret release of a redone Musashi and Hisahide? And Ukita? And STOP. Had to do that. hopefully it is for a good reason though;. :/

Beat you to it robotzombie. That being said, I'm embarrassed to say that I skipped the part that you brought up, so I concede to you. Now I will hang my head in shame...

Guess that makes sense. In all of the videos we've seen, has there been a weapons drop? I've certainly seen items, but I can't recall any weapons.

I think it could be okay personally. What they could do, is have it so there's a certain amount of materials that you can accumulate by conquering areas. Let's say then that there's a black-smith like function where by trading let's say 300 units of metal and 200 units of wood, you can unlock the second weapon, get it? And after that, instead of getting higher level weapons that replaces the older ones, you can raise the individual attributes of those weapons with the same materials, and so forth and so on.

If it's along those lines, then I'm in trouble. I'm a huge sucker for those kinds of systems...

Haha yeah Ouelis, I noticed you posted the Kotaku link, but was confused as to why you didn't actually bring up that point and no one was talking about it.

Yeah, I hope the method is more as some of you described, where you gain enough materials to "purchase" the next weapon. I actually don't want to see the method used in a lot of DW/SW games where you can sort of customize them with different skills and attributes, I tend to like specific unique weapons more

hmm,the plot thickens!>.<

lets see
1.the 15 characters thing:remember when DWG2/gundam musou 2 was announced and the advertisement said it has the newest gundam series:00?!,this is just like that...

2."Each time you defeat a stage boss you take over that part of Japan in the fiction of the game. Once a territory is captured you can use the natural resources of that region to upgrade your weapons as well."

the "natural resources" they are talking about sounds just like what we've been getting in SB2/H's conquest mode, remember?select the treasures/EXP/item/weapon?do not get fooled by fancy words,it might as well be the exact same....so yeah i believe multiple weapons still exists

3."Guys, we might have missed something, BIG. In just about every interview I've read, it's said that there are going to be 35 stages. Just about every stage, is a CHARACTERS. This means there could be 34 characters to play as in the expansion! One stage has to be Sekigahara, and the rest of them can't just be random, right? 10 random stages, doesn't seem likely."

there's still possibilities of repeated characters for several stages,BUT several NPC's comes in pairs(the maedas comes to mind),so yeah, the possible expansion can still have a whooping 30~40(if they also bring back the ones that got cut) rosters

4.other games to wait for/plan B in case SB3 sucks/whatever

well for me i'm waiting for strikeforce 2,MHF3,and the eventual port of gundam extreme VS,for PS3(which i don't have yet,but have access to for a while),there's hokuto musou,SSFIV,and probably A.C.E:Reverse(which 70% of the new rosters i despise aside from macross F,macross 0,and crossbone)

AFAIK, the only sources that have talked about 15 characters until now are that Kotaku article and that french site's article. They might have interpreted the newest trailer as a showcase of all characters, after all.

As some people in 2ch said, if you look at the group shot at the end of the video, doesn't it feel full of empty spaces?

The 35 stages thing too, as Basara pointed out, hint that we're going to get more characters...of course, they could all be NPCs, but they're not going to shoot themselves in the feet like this, are they? (please, don't reply....)

wow, this game is sounding like a complete failure already, considering how everyone is ready to grab up all the yet-to-be copies and smash them into bits and burn them...

really hope things turn around soon...

the weapon upgrade system sounds interesting, i wonder how much there is to it... course, seeing as how things are going so far, im going to assume... not much. :/

Good thing I refreshed the page before replying. I was going to say pretty much exactly what wodash said regarding the resources. Plus we already did "upgrade" the weapons by leveling them up in every battle. I still think we are going to get multiple weapons (hopefully still with the joke weapons as well) and that the system will be similar to SB2/H.

xXBasaraIsBestXx: The reason we are getting the update a day early is because the 29th is Emperor Hirohito's birthday which denotes Shōwa Day - the first day of Golden Week.

I think we cant expect a few more characters at least. There are still actually quite a few left that need to return. Keiji is probably guaranteed to be playable too, so theres that.

I think this will definitely not do well in America, but I think it will sell enough that Capcom can release the inevitablre DLC that makes the NPCs playable.

^^ When you say current news do you mean news that someone else posted a few pages back? :P

@Zero:
Off the top of my head, some of the joke weapons were:
A bouquet of flowers for Kenshin
A parasol for Nagamasa
Leeks for Kojuuro
A Bluth Frozen Banana(tm) for Ranmaru
A folded paper fan for Nobunaga
Fishing lures for Kasuga
A magical girl staff for Itsuki
Barbells for Kennyo
Megaphones for Zabii
Yukimura and Date has "joke" weapons in the form of DMC weapons which were Sparda and Alistair, respectively.

damn... i hope we get joke weapons too, now... it'd be awesome to see DMC weapons added! :D

the guy in charge of the game... koba?

he better have something great planned to reveal soon... it seems like he's trying to make this game fail in america to give them a reason to not translate future games and have anything to do with america...

I only see the first two episodes subbed on FUNi's site. I give them props on a good job with the subs tho.

I did laugh over the fact that the subs for the first episode had the OP translated to english and the second was just romanji of the japanese lyrics.

Gonna check it tomorrow, wonder what voices they're using for people who aren't going to be in SB3.. (Nobunaga, Nagamasa, etc.)

So this is it? This is the complete roster... ?

... <_<

Good job, Kobayashi. You are very skilled... at ultimately disappointing everyone.

Perhaps if you give us free DLC which includes extra characters, I might be statisfied.
But now, you made a sequel to a game that included even more characters than the sequel you just made.

dont forget Lady Noh, she got Dantes Ebony and Ivory guns.

in this next game id like to see the return of joke weapons, it would be so cool!

though id change a few, like Keiji geting the Sparda since i think it would fit his play style more.

id like Magoichi to get Neros Blue Rose from DMC4, as her joke weapon.

for Mitsunari, i think him geting Vergils Yamato, from DMC3 and 4, would fit him perfectly.

Ieyaasu could get the Beowulf Gauntlets from DMC3, or maybe the Ifrit Gauntlets from the origonal DMC.

Kotaro could get Lucias Cutlaseer, from DMC2.

from what i understand, Motonari's bladed ring can split into two swords. he could have a modifyed version of Agni & Rudra from DMC3, so that they could be more circuler.

Yoshihero could get dantes Vendetta from DMC2.

x 3

it would be so cool!!!!
