But i never thought this would actually happen.. i saw sb2 on youtube a few months ago and thought it was nice but never thought much of it after.. Now seeing sw3 and sb3 side by side.. I am actually look more foward to this game then sw3.. I cannot actually wait for this ^_^!!.. Koei could really learn a few tips on how to improve there games from capcom ;).. Loving the intro aswell :P.. simple yet epic... This could be my game of 2010 xD

Motonariīs "Illusion". As far as Iīve seen, the enemy (only Tsuruhime could fall for such a trick ) runs towards it, attacks and once an enemy touches it (and thatīs the part I donīt know) YOU can blow it up or it does automatically. And yes, it does some damage. So you can set up the archer, bring out the illusion, get that vacuum ring ready till it has sucked up some enemies and then throw your archers allong with the enemies in the explosive illusion and bang. Thatīs the fun with Motonari. EDIT: What? I should watch a video before I say something. They miss Motochika, Motonari, Yoshihiro, EVEN KEIJI, Oichi, Kotaro...even if they arenīt new. That opening is really just to introduce those characters. It doesnīt make them more important, since I canīt imagine that Tsuruhime has a much deeper story than Tadakatsu or any other character. I thought theyīve shown every character and thus seem it seems thatīs it, but itīs just the stuff weīve seen for months now. Afterall, wasnīt there a SB2:H trailer with Kojuuro, Nagamasa and Oichi only and suddenly, sometime after it, there was a longer trailer, with Hisahide in it? So donīt worry about it. Itīs just an (itīs epic...I love the art style) opening. Like Street Fighter or Tekken, there are sometimes characters left out, not because they are unimportant but simply because A) They shouldnīt be spoiled or B) Just didnīt fit in the idea of the opening I just canīt imagine that all the veterans left out and all the characters who have been spotted (Shingen?, Itsuki, Kennyo, Zabii, Musashi, Hisahide, Otomo rep, Amago rep, Ukita rep, the guy who does the bad stuff under Ieyasuīs name...and I donīt think itīs Tadakatsu, since Motochika wouldīve known it, since he has a bond with Tadakatsu too) are all NPCs and thereīs not even a single playable character among them. Maybe those characters are so awesome, that theyīd hype us so much for the game, that they simply canīt show them yet I mean, if the likes of Hisahide are under them, they canīt be bland joke characters only Letīs wait and hope for next week. BTW, NDY, that event youīve mentioned...what is it? And did you get a copy of the demo? And I looked at the japanese PSN store....only the MGS:Peace Walker (demo I guess), but no SB3 video...I guess it was the intro and we have that now (thanks Jsun )

I thought we all agreed not to bash Koei games when talkingabout basara. As for the quality over quantity comment. We'll see. I dunno, that quality over quantity excuse seems overused... and it's often used to "justify" buying a game with very little content(the stuff that was shown to the public obviously. Doesn't necessarily mean that the quality sucks) |

First of, big thanks to Jsun, MoM and Gakupo. Hope I didn't miss anyone. I liked the opening, but I have a couple of problems with it. While to song is good and all, it doesn't really sell itself to me like past OP's. Also, Tsuru and Maggie get too much screen time. After timing it a bit, I found each characters allotted time as thus; Maggie 16 sec, Kurokan 8 sec, Tsuru 14 sec and Yoshitsugu 5-9 sec(depending on if you count when his orb covers the screen). I can live with Maggie's long part since there's more artistic feeling and action in it, Tsuru's just seems to go on for too long. So I would have liked it to have been a little more screen time for Kurokan and Mummy-man. Also, I don't think that this opening should be indicative of the final roster. I'm not saying that we have like 20 more PC's coming our way but I highly doubt that there won't be any more new character PC's. I could list a lot of reasons why I believe that, but DK summed it up pretty nicely in his last post, so I don't have to. So thanks for that DK .NDY what's this event you're talking about? When is it going to be held? |

The event is called "Sengoku Basara- Haru no Jin (Spring Siege)" and will be held on the 2nd of May in Shinjuku. As usual, Koba and a number of seiyuus will appear. Obviously SB3's release is the highlight of the event, so what better occasion to reveal new info? BTW, the listed seiyuus are: Ookawa Tooru (Ieyasu) Seki Tomokazu (Mitsunari) Tachiki Fumihito (Yoshitsugu) Ohara Sayaka (Maggie) Koyama Rikiya (Kurokan) Koimizu Ami (Tsuru) Morita Masakazu (Keiji) Ishino Ryuzo (Motochika) Morikawa Toshiyuki (Kojuro) LOL at no MasaYuki...guess they're really downgraded this time, huh? |

It's Jedah's stage. FETUS OF GOD!!! He's gonna be the final boss. I called it first!...either that or there's a Silent Hill stage. Once again, thanks to Jsun for delivering the goods. The Basara intros never really struck me with much awe since they mostly seemed like 3 or 4 dudes flying around enveloped in auras color coded for convenience. That said, this one is probably my favorite so far, mostly for going more "overall" and shift it's focus on the bigger picture, namely I&M's conflict and showcasing more characters than usual. But like Ouelis mentioned, shame Kuroda and Otani got so little screen time while Tsuruhime hogged way too much of it with her historically anachronistic shenanigans. On a side note, would be awesome if the game followed the intro and I&M had their last battle in a pool of Fanta. |

Why do the last three seiyuus feel so out of place after seeing the intro? Especially Kojuuro... But letīs not forget that this is a sunday. So it might be too soon to reveal something really big. We might get a very helpfull hint again by Koba like "lots of new characters", "only 1/3 of the roster revealed", "many females", "?-ty roster" and then heīll tell us if we should look out for next week or at least the next date for his next "spill of genius". Though we might get something on the story mode or weapon system since Koba just praises it to heaven but never explains how it works or how much impact different paths have on the story or if thereīll still be different weapons - most important joke weapons. And a word on when we might expect some Tsuchi artwork - after seeing the opening itīs really time - and one or two words on alternate costumes...please, donīt go the SSFIV road, which, I guess, had one day after itīs release a 400 yen prized 3 costume DLC at start And I hope someone asks Kobayashi, if he watched the Joker in Dark Knight too much and now thinks he has to be extremely funny and make himself the viallain of the modern gaming world. Since after proudly declaring the centerstage is Sekigahara and now seeing exactly 4 dudes that fought (fought is probably the wrong word) at it and one that fights on the wrong side + having an opening were a school girl in sparkly pink that probably wouldīve died around 3 times before Sekigahara even started, gets more attention than Masa/Yuki or Kanbei and Yoshitsugu together. Also I really hope someone asks him, if he thinks that NPCs really count as characters and also if heīs some kind of voyeur, since he thinks, watching characters is better than playing with them. Says probably a lot about his preferences in his life. |

I LOVE the opening! It's just... beautiful! Amazing, dynamic, and the backgrounds are just staggering. I actually quite like the song too. It's not on the same level as Crosswise or JAP, but it's good. I seem to recall the opening of the first game included barely any of the playable characters (and one of those who was included was Itsuki, coincidence much?) Thank you very much for all the updates guys

Since Iīm normally the wrong person to build up some hope, since my hopes for this game are taking a "short break from the game" on Bikini Atoll, waiting for new nuclear bombing tests so they might see something that is ruined by something else than our trollking Kobayashi and say that Koba is not going to do something that sends epic fail signals which even aliens from some other solar system would be able to aknowledge as an epic fail...Iīll still do it: @Mooglez: Playable characters = 15: Tokugawa Ieyasu - Ishida Mitsunari - Honda Tadakatsu - Otani Yoshitsugu - Date Masamune - Sanada Yukimura - Chosokabe Motochika - Mori Motonari - Maeda "Uesugi" Keiji - Saika Magoichi - Kuroda Kanbei - Oichi - Fuuma Kotaro - Shimazu Yoshihiro - Tsuruhime NPCs = 10 (or as Koba probably calls them: reason to play a game): Uesugi Kenshin - Kasuga - Sarutobi Sasuke - Katakura Kojuuro - Tenkai - Kobayakawa Hideaki - Mogami Yoshiaki - Hojo Ujimasa - Maeda Toshiie - Matsu Sengoku BASARA 3 roster so far in total (since the chief of the BASARA staff thinks unplayable characters are fun): 25 characters Now a lot of sites (mostly the genius sites of english speaking jerks) suddenly start to talk about 15 characters, since thatīs the amount of characters on the Sengoku BASARA 3 site (which is still updating) Japanese sites never even mentioned anything about the game, except for the infos they got from CAPCOM (so never making a preview saying Yukimura fights with six swords, itīs the next title of the Dynasty Warriors series or claiming there are only 15 PCs and 10 NPCs when weīve obviously seen Keiji fighting against Zabiiīs army )Thatīs why a lot assume that there are only 15 characters. To prove them wrong: A) There are still characters out there whose fate is still unknown, but seeing Hojo Ujimasa as an NPC and Keiji fighting against Zabiiīs army indicates that theyīll most likely be in the game as something, meaning: Matsunaga Hisahide - Miyamoto Musashi - Hongan-ji Kennyo - Itsuki - Zabii - Takeda Shingen(?) are probably in as NPCs or playables. B) We saw that clan crest of the Amago clan in a picture and got the info that the Gassan Toda Castle battle is in the game (which was Mori vs. Amago leaving us with the most logic hint without Amago it doesnīt really work) We saw the Otomo crest along Zabiiīs army, and Otomo Sorin was a strong christian believer who was converted by (add dramatic drums here) Francis Xavier aka Zabii! And we had once the map of the level selection screen and there was a nice level icon directly over Ukita territory. Ukita Hideie being the MOST LOYAL Toyotomi follower, being the second-in-command of the western army, being the one that probably fought the most and hardest in that said army during the Sekigahara battle which was supposed to be the setting of Sengoku BASARA 3 before characters like Tsuruhime and Magoichi made a glorious stand-in. What Iīm saying here is, that we still have AT LEAST two characters out of the old cast that should/will probably be playable and thereīs a hint that we still have 3 PCs/NPCs out there in form of a Amago, Otomo and Ukita clan representation. Since letīs be honest. Thereīs 12 weeks till the release. If you count in Takeda Shingen, weīd have 6 veteran NPCs and 3 new NPCs leaving us with 9 NPCs in total. Do you think thatīs Kobaīs and CAPCOMīs great plan to advertise a game shortly before itīs realease? With characters you canīt play as? Ever tried to stop a moving high-speed train during a thunderstorm, in underwear, bare-handed while a four and a six year old kid beat your nuts with a baseballbat and sing "Iīm looking for freedom" from David Hasselhoff? Trying that out, would still be a better idea than the advertising scenario I said shortly before that. So letīs drop the whole 15 characters roster and count with at least 19 characters, since thatīs the space left on the website. Itīs not an epic number...well...itīs a number.

My bad. I got my memory confused because they used the anime's theme song for BH and in thinking back on it that made me think it also had an anime intro lol. Edit: Actually I just went back and rewatched the SBBH intro ... holy crap that was awesome lol. How could I forget about that? Guess I had a mental block because of the game itself being so disappointing. However, the intro did a great job getting over the whole 2 on 2 gimmick of the game. I watched the new OP some more and while I think the song is great, I do think it was the weakest of TM Revolution's BASARA songs. If I were to rank my favorite SB OP songs in order it would be: JAP-SBBH/Anime > Blade Chord-SB2H > Crosswise-SB1 > Naked Arms-SB3 > DIVE into Yourself-SB2. Now for the intro itself: I already mentioned how I'm glad its not MasaYuki focused, but I think it has a really interesting art style to it and is a great way to start the game by introducing gamers to the new characters they've revealed so far. All it was missing was a giant sized villain rising up and attacking everyone like Nobunaga in SB1 OP, Hideyoshi in SB2 OP, or Nobunaga AND Hideyoshi in SBBH OP. However, since we don't have (or have yet to be been introduced to ) a main villain that wasn't going to be happening. If I were to rank my favorite SB OP as a combination of the music and video then it would be a bit different from my list of just the songs: SB2 Wii (SB2 OP CGI w/ Blade Cord) > SBBH > SB3 > SB1 > SB2 > SB2H > SBX.

i forgot to comment about the OP it feels.......empty,its lacking a LOT of oomph compared to the previous CG openings,SB1 was the most epic, both the original OP AND the tokyo version,SB2 has flying keiji and masa~yuki,SBBH gives equal awesomeness to ALL characters(although the flying horses and the eye lazors are a bit too much IMO) SB3 had characters dancing alone in a bland background, ieyasu's "scream+ground pound" scene was lackluster compared to masa~yuki's weapon clash in SB1 which sends tons of grunt flying, and maggie?it would've been fitting if it was used for oichi's background,or tenkai,or even the creepy yoshitsugu, but maggie? and only ieyasu&mitsunari interact with each other, sure there's masa yuki's 2 second stare-fest but that does not count, the OP needs more characters shown and more stylish action put into it,even DW6's OP looks more interesting than this and that says a lot..... so yeah,i have to say this is the weakest SB CGI opening so far.... |

Geez, I wasn't bashing KOEI games and I don't hate them, you guys actually serious? *quickly looks at site staff page again* yeah I don't think so ![]() I was basically saying how the cloned character movesets in DW6 were a result of quantity over quality with KOEI rushing the game out the door before fully completing it. The cloned characters didn't have story modes and were later only added in the special version with different weapons. I do love playing DW6 (my 3rd favorite DW game), but the whole issue that fans have beef over is the exact reason I stated above. With Sengoku BASARA 3, I think it's quite the opposite in terms of what we've been presented with so far. I mean of course they could have made those 10 NPCs playable, but I think it would be pointless if were just getting half-assed dummy characters with no stories. I'd rather have them put more effort in other areas so the game isn't totally boggled down by a huge roster and lackluster gameplay. I'm really just contrasting where both companies (Capcom and KOEI) are setting their priorities for these games. No need to single me out as a hater or start a heated argument. |

I don't think there was even a heated argument. I wouldn't think too much of it. If it makes you feel any better... I didn't really like DW6 either. Now as for SB3. Hey guys, the temporary lull is slowing down this topic, so I found a way to jolt it back to action! I found a rather lengthy interview on 2ch, of course starring Koba and Yamamoto (another producer), where they talk about the newest chars in detail. Here goes! Spoiler: click to toggle ...that was long. Hope you guys get a kick out of it. Jesus, are Koba and Yama idiots or what? Before you ask, the LOLs were all in the original script...the other comments in parentheses were added by me though. |

I enjoyed reading that little tidbit about Kotaro. Personally, I think the real joke is how he's actually proud of this game. He also said that he wanted more male fans and he added in Oichi because she's popular. She is popular but what does that say about the rest of the crew that was npc'fied. |

All hail Koba - God's gift to gamers and Sengoku Jidai enthusiasts! Just me, or this guy is a little bit too full of himself? Anyway, many thanks for the interview, it was an interesting read. Bearing in mind the decisions made, it's nice to know what factors were behind them. As I expected, Oichi is going to be the "wild card" general which everyone will probably have a chance to face in their respective stories. I can already imagine Yoshitsugu playing her like a fiddle, pretending to be Nagamasa. Yoshi: Yes Ichi, it is I, Azai Nagamasa, your abusive and neglective husband, back from the dead. Oichi: Nagamasa-sama, is it really you? Yoshi: Dammit woman, questioning me is evil! Oichi: Nagamasa-sama, is it really REALLY you? Yoshi: YES! *hits Oichi in the head with an orb* Now go fix me a sandwich! Oichi: Nagamasa-sama, it really is you! Or something to that effect... (sorry, was kinda bored) Anyway, you mentioned Todo, but I wonder if Kato couldn't fit the bill as well? I've been reading more about him lately, and I got the impression he was something of a complete monster, even moreso than Nobunaga, I dare say, so he'd be fitting for the Eastern ruthless general. That said, Koei didn't do much justice on his design. They picked a cool weapon for him but made him look like one of KoF's metrossexuals. I think he's got potential and history to make a strong impression. KISHOKAN! On a side note, here's the latest 4gamer article on base conquering benefits and the last 4 NPCs. As per usual, my apologies for not being able to say if it provides any new information or not. http://www.4gamer.net/games/094/G009450/20100430047/ |

NDY, thatīs what we needed, something new... Itīs sad that fans have to advertise the game to keep fans by the game, but hey...itīs only a matter of time As for this part, I donīt know if I should cry, laugh or just hide in a corner till the world ends: I: I don't know what I should ask about this character! Koba: It's still unclear why he participates in the war (LOL) There are many things we can't say about him. I: From an historical point of view, he should be serving the Tokugawa, so why the Kobayakawa? Because of the Kobayakawa's 2-scythes emblem, maybe? Yama: The emblem thing was a lucky coincidence (LOL). There are many reasons: first, his personality and Ieyasu's don't match. Their stories don't either. Plus, since in the Sekigahara battle no one knows where the Kobayakawa army will end up, giving connections to Tenkai would be like picking a side for the Kobayakawa. I: Judging from his voice, it looks like he's hiding some scheme, or plotting something... Koba: Tenkai is a good man, he's a high monk after all! In the Kobayakawa domain he's treated as one. Hideaki relies on him too. There are many mysteries about him, but he has a very big role, so please pay attention to him. It sounded as they...I mean seriously...thought no one knows who that mysterious character is... We canīt say too many things about him. Is that because they have some hidden secret? Maybe Tenkai isnīt the goody good monk he pretends to be...maye itīs another historical character we know about I bet itīs still Undead-Nagamasa...I mean they had both long hair afterall...and since heīs undead, his hair turned white... And itīs as we all suspected. Koba picked HIS favourite characters and not those the fans demanded. And some made up historic facts. I bet at this point, they believed that Kanbei was the best friend of Mitsunari and thus he fought against everyone in Sekigahara, especially against the eastern army. Doesnīt make sense? Then it makes one for them. But at least we have a hint. Many characters are involved. So thereīs gotta be some other schemers...god I hope itīs not our NPC...Yoshiaki is funny and all...but give us someone I actually believe to be totally evil...and be able to play as him by that EDIT: Why is it, that everytime I read an interview with Koba (though the Yamato guy is a wonder in itself...what guys work there? Do they even know they live in japan?) I get all depressed and dissapointed that such a guy, works on our favourite franchise? I ask you in all honesty, do you have the same feeling? Am I the only one? Also, anyone else found that part kinda...weird...in a weird way...: Koba: They are a good couple as always. This time the story is full of battles, massacres etc, so it's nice to relax around them once in a while. The picture that comes to my mind when I read MASSACRES...
