In response to Hondam, I'm still looking forward to the game, despite knowing that I'm not really getting a finished product (and hope the expansion will both be released overseas and reasonably priced). Just... really, the quality over quantity excuse seems more of a crutch now than an actual excuse/reason. Really, that's it... So I didn't really mean to come off as complaining... I'm still looking forward to the few characters I -can- play as, but Kobayashi doesn't really need anyone defending him for bad decisions, especially the people he's screwing over that's all. As for the openings, I've only seen two, so... I can't really comment. I'll youtube them all later... too tired. |

@wodash: I can't believe I forgot Naked Arms... and I referred to it in the first sentence lolol!@Shokatshin: Adding in the special ED theme as well are we? In that case my list shall be revised! Blade Chord = Nemure Hi no Hana = JAP > Naked Arms > Crosswise > Dive Into Yourself = Brave > whatever that ED theme was for Battle Heroes, the name escapes me at the moment. I'm guessing Ieyasu's new theme will be something like the song on the game's site. Gives you a feeling of... a bright future ahead or something like that. I don't how to describe it well but it gives me a good feeling when I hear it. Mitsunari, on the other hand, will most likely have a hard and violent sounding track. Lot's of heavy instruments is what I mean by 'violent'. |

The problem I'm having with this argument is; how is quality over quantity a invalid excuse, when its clearly true? The series needed to evolve eventually to keep it fresh and lure in fans who get bored of the ancient button mashing concept, where the goal is to head up a linear path and defeat the boss. With the addition of many new features, such as dashing, bases, battle time drive, clashing, individual character traits and branching story paths, I believe they've revolutionised BASARA from the "musou rip-off", to a Hack n Slash worthy of this generation. True, we lost a fair amount of characters, and some blatantly failed to make it in, but look at it this way, would you have rather have all characters intact, with little evolution? Its a shame this couldn't be our dream game with a 50+ character roster, with reworked veterans, no NPCs, and all the same features this game has brought, but with this being the series first try on next gen consoles, I truely wasn't expecting that. What I'm saying is, this installment acts like a stepping stone to a bright future for the series. We could have got SB2HD with 3 or so new characters thrown in, but they decided to take time on working on the characters, making each totally unique, and giving the gameplay a more challenging feel. Eventually, all characters will get these individual traits, branching story paths and the older cast will get new skills. Couple this with the supposed grand amount of new characters this installment has brought, along with the gameplay changes, and we're all the more closer to seeing our dream BASARA game come into reality. Its one of those games where its truely worth it in the long run. All the ones who never got a chance to play as the cut characters, if your that upset about it, just import SB2 by any means. If not, please stop bringing up the same tired conversation in the main thread. As others have said, the complaints topic is there for this sole reason. I totally agree on what the majority is saying though. Koba is an idiot. But I mainly think this due to certain character choices and announcing the game way too early, putting us through those damn info draughts... Other than that, this game is looking great! Its just a shame some of you seem to be blind to the pros, rather than the cons... But yeah, Koba sure has turned our DK into the Mitsunari of this board. I hope, for everyone's sake, Hisahide is playable ![]() And Gakupo, the ending to SBBH was Sailing Free, but why is Brave <3 so low on your list!? |

So, the Haru no Jin event is going to take place tomorrow correct? I suppose that means that if there's any new information coming out of it, we'll be hearing it around Sunday night/Mid Monday, depending on how big said information would be. Should we start discussing what, if anything, we might get out of it? |

I think it was our fellow member Kratos Aurion who stated some time ago, that as a transition-to-current-gen title, one couldn't honestly overdemand or expect this game to be everything we'd expect it to be. A valid point. From a technical standpoint, judging solely the visuals and gameplay enhancements, I think we all agree the team did a great work and we can legitimately expect the best Basara game so far. The NPC-fest is something we just have to take. SB2 also had a ludicrous amount of NPCs, so it's not something we couldn't expect. Now as for WHO got NPCed and who didn't...well, that is purely subjective. Just to name an example, I'm sure some of us would probably prefer a NPC Honda and a PC Matsu. But as ChibiGingi mentioned, and I fully agree, the "quality over quantity" argument does feel more like a crutch in front of certain undeniable facts - namely that it seems we're being sold a unfinished product, something that appears to fail in taking advantage of the capability of both consoles, namely the lack of dual-audio, something some Wii owners here assured the game disc could handle. I'm pressive on this point, because it is important. Reasonable or not, to some consumers it's a decisive factor between purchase or not. There's no negative points in including such a option. I don't know about any of you, but dishing out hard-earned money for a game is something I don't take lightly, especially for current systems and especially during a financial crisis (though that is something of a unrelated cause...), and so far, PS3 owners seem to have been duped into buying a Wii game. I'm not criticizing the game's visuals - they're stunning. I'd buy the game even if it had the same graphics as SB2 BUT I'm certain the game being the same for both consoles might hamper one thing I was hoping the game would easily surpass the prequel: the amount of onscreen mooks. I hope the Wii can handle hundreds of soldiers onscreen without slowdown or clipping. If it can, then this eventual criticism is pointless, if not, well, I think the gameplay experience got crippled. I'm reserving judgment for when the title goes gold. Part of me still wants to believe Koba is a moron with a stupid fratboy sense of humour and thinks it's amusing to get people stressed for nothing. I guess the title suffers a bit unjustly because the idiot who calls himself a director, sees fit to plan things with the coherence of a drunken centipede. On a side note, after re-reading the interview NDY posted, there was a quote I found rather alarming. He mentioned Oichi was included partly because he wanted SOME women in the roster. A rather pessismistic interpretation of this could mean the rest of the roster is going to be a sausage-fest.

One way Capcom can get out of Musou's shadow with out turning it into DMC is online, if this is a game truly about war make it so have three on three on one battlefield, Online games are really turning the industry on to a new direction. but this is something I haven't heard much of, all i've heard is "yh there will be online" is that it what type of online. Westerns really take to online gameplay (and would be a key promotion factor with the western release) and it Will shut the fans up about the character selection or even what they look like. Noo Its Koba were dealing with so thats probably NOT gonna happen. As for the time scale if they were planning to release the game in the west the pre-production should have been done for both sides of the coin, if i'm being honest the absence of kojurro (after all the work put into him in "SB2H") but putting in motonari instead is stupid I can tell you this now when the game hits the shops in UK Kojurro would look 90% more attractive then Motonari When developing games or animation for a mass Market you can just do what you want, if you want it to succeed there are rules and regulation but i guess Koba is exempt for them .And as for Capcom in general they are milkers but FANTASTIC game desginers Resident evil 5 did well surprising its change in genre, and TBH is about time for a climax you CANNOT be in the same hunted house with the same 1mph walking Zombies the series looks like its nearly at its end ACTION needs to be taken. As for Lost planet. FINALLY and alien war based game that isn't First person (its too piss easy to make) and the monsters make the player feel like they need to accomplish something on a major scale (when you eventually do its a good feeling and the multiplayer is like metal gear online on easy mode lol) and the animations as always are fantastic (thanks to MO-CAP which is cheating but I guess easier and more effective). As for SFiv i wasn't really a fan of the first instalment but SSFiv looks alot better AND at least the fans got something Capcom have said no for 10years after finally listening that says something. Koba needs to fix up because it looks like he loosing his flare after the Failure of DMC4. I don't mean to complain but i'm very blunt when people are either Lazy Or purposely stupid. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think! before you do something Koba you can save yourself alot of Time, Money and Resentment Edited by ~in3vitableTIMING~, Sat May 1, 2010 4:46 pm.

Err, I don't think Motonari was included expressly to replace Kojuurou. That just wouldn't work. And I doubt the roster was based entirely on attractiveness either, usually movesets, personality, storylines etc etc have something to do with the popularity of a character. I'm just going to stay out of the Kobapii-bashing. If you want to do it, then please do it in the complaints thread. It's just a shame that Goldenweek leaves us very little new info to talk about... btw, where was the opening officially released, if not on the main website? |

But that extactly what I mean if the original idea was the game was to release the game in the west as well wouldn't the "producer(s)" Take hint that characters like Kojurro and Kasuga would be popular? because the way Kotaku look at the title is how alot of the westerns are going to, which is a shame but true only a small amount of gamers think like Koei warriors (myself included). And as for the "Koba-bashin" its more like common sense i wouldn't call it bashing unless someone wasn't giving any good productive idea on how he could fix the problem (which i gave). i'm not bashing the guy i'm just not giving much credit (not yet anyway) just like in Music where the third album can make or break their carrier it goes for games too, if the game doesn't do well in the west this time Theres no going back which SUCKS because there is NOT enough japanese influenced games who have the potential to do well. EDIT: @master of musou LOOOL nero was a big problem, when I ask the same question surprisingly the same Phrase came up every time "A boy trying to do a mans job" Nero was made for the girls not the boys and guess what even the girls hated nero lol giving Dante a back seat in his own game was a really bad idea its like taking Lara croft out of tomb raider "ERRRR NO you don't do that". Other than that the recycled battles were a obvious sign of laziness. And the hottest girl in the game didn't get enough screen time "Gloria" i believe her name was. To finish off the story was weak and the reincarnation of Vergil in Nero put alot of gamers off (including myself) and there was no answer to what vergil had done since (remember No.3 last battle took place before number 1) I just so happen to LOVE vergil more than Dante and making my favourite character the shadow of someone that hasn't even gone through puberty was a direct insult so that made DMC4 the game it is today. Aw yeah, you know Ichi's theme is bestest tier
The problem with taking this track is that, it being a Capcom game, we're probably going to see evidence they could've had it both ways rather than kept it "strictly" on the path of franchise evolution. Hell, that the ratio of PCs-NPCs is steadily getting closer to 1:1 and the fact that Kasuga has such badass looking moves should already tell us this. But again, double-dipping by way of multiple releases; all hail our overlord Capcom. I'm only being partly facetious, this is like a company trope of their's.Is there a video anywhere of either Yoshiaki or Hideaki? I'm especially interested in the former because he looks like the kind of guy who would take Yoshimoto's place as "complete fop who has no right winning a battle but is hilarious anyway". Not to mention that cup, man. Incoming "His tea not even drop" fad coming in 3... 2... 1...

Just thought of something, perhaps the only positive thought about this series in the longest time. Suppose (and this is a fantasy) that this game does well enough in Capcom's eyes to warrant official NA/EU releases of the previous games. Whether it's a physical copy of the game or digital distribution... I know I'm getting my expectations up, but that alone would make me forgive/forget the cut characters/NPC nonsense that's drug this game down for me and several others. Not that it'll ever happen... but still, food for thought. (Really, I don't like modding, especially if there's a chance it'll kill my console.) |

Maybe theyīll give us a "Sengoku ReBASARA" for PS3, like Musou Orochi Z, just with better grapchics and all the characters that are now around the BASARAverse. Though I highly doubt it, it would be a neat idea, seeing as some of the new characters would enhance some stories and relations a bit. (they allready have the engine and all that stuff, no sweat here) And hey, I put them in a spoiler tag and warned everyone from reading, so donīt judge me for doing so. Also I canīt complain about Kobayashi in the what you donīt like about BASARA 3 thread, since that freak is not a game, but a troll. As Iīve said, some have lost more than others, (those who have Oichi and Keiji are happy as a new born sugar-honey-unicorn and those who got screwed over with the decisions are like Mitsunari when he has a bad mood...and thatīs probably...all the time... )Thatīs why I made those rants, to make you understand why some of you are happily looking at Kobayashiīs grinning face and some of us want to test if thereīs a brain in that vacuum bag called "his head". And donīt worry, Iīve allready reduced it a bit, most of them arenīt even meant serious (maybe I should make a signature like ChibiGingi ) but the last bits about Q over Q and some even DEFENDING Kobayashi...thatīs not something I can calmy tolerate.Itīs bad enough we canīt do anything about that A-hole... As for MoM, a bit off topic, but well: DMC4: - one half of the game was with the newcomer Nero who was as well received as Raiden by most of the fans - The second half was with Dante, just revisiting all the levels you played allready with Nero, even FIGHTING THE SAME BOSSES that have not changed their pattern or anything. - Trish and Lady (fan favourites) are NPCs with some minor roles and when they asked Koba why, he blantly said he thought it better if you watch what you like, rather then play it. Yeah... - The soundtrack was inferior to DMC3 in every aspect especially the fighting music that you heard reeeaaally often and it was just some "cheese" rock music - DMC4 didnīt focus that much on action like DMC3, also it felt "slower" compared to the other DMCs and thatīs a bad thing in a game thatīs called "Stylish action" game - The overall fan service, like alternate costumes and unlockables were just a joke. I mean Cīmon that was weak. Overall you could say about it: Itīs a good game. Just not a good Devil May Cry. Hope that makes sense to some of you. (actually thatīs the official line from a lot of DMC fans) Also, letīs wait for tomorrow (hope youīll provide us some awesome news NDY )I still like BASARA and I still like that game...but itīs not "love" anymore...itīs only like. Kobayashi preaches about how there will be so many new characters, such a huge roster and so many females and yet he cuts so many characters, adds so many "useless" characters, adds so many NPCs...heīs just a damn hypocrit. Iīll never forgive this man. Iīll never forgive what heīs done. Kobayashi...KOBAYASHI....KOBAYASHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! |

I myself shyed away from modding my PS2, but its actually a lot easier than you may think. In fact, with some tape, thin cardboard, balled up piece of tissue paper, and a drinking straw, my PS2 was import prepped (via Swap Magic disc) in about 15 minutes. Technically, that doesn't void your warranty (if your warranty hasn't already expired >_>) There's even a free program you could boot from a thumbdrive that does the same thing as Swap Magic, so you could do this basically for free, though it takes a bit more effort. Much better than cracking open your console and soldering a mod chip to the circuit-board ![]() In the case of having downloadable versions of the older games (translated ), I would say its a possibilty for next console gen, where we will hopefully get downloadable PS2 games.I don't see why Sony doesn't have any Japan-only releases on the US/EU stores. Wiiware has a number of them (the REAL Super Mario Bros. 2, Sin & Punishment [which is awesome], Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, and others). As for this upcoming event, new characters/silhouettes are the most likely possibilty, IMO (Zabii, naturally, as well as one of the other 3 or 4 prospected reveals). A new character/story trailer maybe? (for the characters revealed since the last story trailer). Or, something I would like to see, a stage showcase, to show off all the unique parts of some of the stages (the solar lasers in Itsukushima, etc.), or maybe new enemies (cannon guys, barrel throwers, etc.). Some info on the music would be nice too, since I see this suddenly became the buzz on this thread. Not just the OP/ED themes, I wanna know if Motochika's theme is intact. Not the badass 6/8 swingin' pirate Shikoku theme (we already know it's in ), I mean the theme when you actually fight him. Man, I love that song.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M_xQDM91lY |

Yep, it was the main problem since I didnīt like Nero, neither enjoyed playing as him, thus the first part was ruined and the second part was just a re-hash. Thus the complete game was a waste. (at least for a DMc/DMC3 fan) Also having no real unlockables and no fan service at all, I was really dissapointed as a fan of Devil May Cry. Meh, Koba canīt ruin it forver. And canīt ruin BASARA 3 forever. They have to give us some retribution someday in form of taking more money from us with an expansion. But if itīs as good as SB2:Heroes...itīs not THAT BAD. Letīs wait and see for tomorrow, again, but I wouldnīt expect too much. Itīs just an event. We might some voice actors giving some samples, some insights on the characters (some we probably know about or things we all can clearly see like: Mitsunari is really angry.) It would be nice though if they spill the beans on when to expect something or if we can still expect more than what rumors seem all to say EDIT: Itīs not the interview I meant...but this is pretty neat too: Spoiler: click to toggle Gotta love the part about how he excused the re-hash boss thing. Also even more love the part at why Trish and Lady arenīt in the spot light. Of course, you like something, you want to see less of it.

We really need some new information in here, fast. Seems like the thread is just starting to collapse in on itself. Hey NDY, do you have any idea when the event tomorrow is going to be held? And yes, I realize I already kinda asked but I'm just trying to get the topic to shift focus a bit. I'm going to go ahead and start speculating what we'll be seeing tomorrow then instead. While I'm a bit doubtful we'll get any information that'll scorch the earth I think there's a good chance we'll be getting a glimpse of the next batch. Also, since we don't have any updates scheduled for the site, the next batch should be imminent. What I'd like to see; Otomo Sorin/Todo Takatora PC or Matsunaga Hisahide PC. Or both. Zabii NPC I think this would be a nice time to finally unveil the debut of that magnificent bastard. An event with Koba and almost all of the PC seiyuu's sitting in front of the crowd, about to start the press conference(or whatever I'm supposed to call it). Koba looks around, seems to looking for something, or someone. He talks into the microphone; "Sorry, we're about to get started but we're missing a guest. Ah, there he is." Bam. Fujiwara Keiji(Hisahide's seiyuu) enters stage right. The crowd erupts! Sure, it's a high hope. But I don't care. That's just how I am .

Hmmm...itīs really time to get something big. And I donīt mean the BIG BAD news, weīve got a lot of them recently. Itīs some bag full of goodies, like Ouelis just said. Why not use the event, to introduce "the bad guys"? Weīve only seen the "Heroes" or "dramatic war emos" As I said, they seriously canīt think we take Mitsunari as "teh bad dude". As well as Yoshitsugu (I like him, but heīs not Sephiroth or Hisahide material), Yoshiaki or Tenkai(if he were that important, heīd be playable...and he never even crosses paths with Ieyasu, as Koba or Yama said...so he wonīt be "the brain") at that. Give us someone, were the moment we see him, weīll think: Damn. Thatīs one evil son of a cow you donīt wanna mess with. Someone like Hideyoshi. I mean...he was a mix of Raoh and Zangief...now thatīs some badass badguy. It doesnīt mean he has to be 100% pure evil. Itīs just someone you actually believe that heīs a force to be reckoned with. Itīs time to bring out the big guns. |

i didnt think DMC was bad, hated Nero and love dante much more, but there is only too much u can do with those genre's before they get so boring, and switching up with a new main character with similar styles but a new and unique one really did this game well. I could care less about Trish being playable or not, kind of glad she isnt, those girls arent hot, unless your into trannys. Serious, a manly chin and nose does not look good, and her shoulders and frame have stamps of manly in it. And whats with this hate on SB3 so much? I dont see people complaining about BB over GG. Yes, its a 'new game', but its the same concept. Better graphics, good gameplay (not as good as GG and not as fast), 12 CHARACTERS. I could go on. The fact is, arc system works didnt put all their work into BB, as yes, the budget was semi high for the fact it used rotoscoping, but the budget of that doesn't compare to the technology capcom is using to produce SB3. If this is the final character roster, whatever, 15 characters with beauty levels and an upgraded fighting system. And to know we will get an expansion that will include probably all the NPC's, its still better than paying full price for BB CT (In japan its 65-70 dollars, america its 40) where SB3 in america is going to be 40 ANYWAYS. This is how games are making their money nowadays and its going to be like this for a very long time, so complaining about SB3 and taking out frustration over your high expectations being blown because they made SB3 from the ground up rather than re do the ps2 graphics and add characters is nonsense. Sorry for the huge rant, it's just I wonder if any of you have been to school to build a game and compare it to other games and brain storm intelligent thoughts on the matter rather then bash a game and say your going to buy another one thats milking more of your money and you dont realize or care. Mainly, I hear americans complaining (im american too before you guys try to pull the hate americans thing like gamefaqs does, which this is close to it now). On japanese forums and blogs, I see more positive feedback because of the expanded story and dialogue, which the fan girls are obsessing over. Edited by FlameMasterAJ, Sat May 1, 2010 10:06 pm.

I thought 2D hand-drawn sprites are a lot more expensive than 3D models. |

they are, especially rotoscoping, but some of the technology used in SB3 brought the budget up. Reason 2d sprites 'costs' so much is mainly because of time restraints and frame work. You half ass to make the time mark or you dont and add in small characters. Their is much more, but I think people get the point of this. I'm really not trying to sound like an ass, but its tiring to hear certain things, then contradict themselves by saying what games they want and praise rather than realizing the obvious. I usually don't post much on the forums because I don't meddle, but it's getting to the point of arrogance and uneducated people in these fields trying to give us resulted opinions that make half sense at best. I lurk these boards and rarely talk because nobody cares about what I have to say, but I know people will retaliate with idiotic responses now and 'flame' me. Tired of being in the shadows in such a retarded argument. There is a difference of opinion and fact, and well... Never mind, no use in explaining. Edited by FlameMasterAJ, Sat May 1, 2010 10:14 pm.

Off-topic: I have a slim PS2 and I just used the "tissue and tape" method. I don't think the straw is even needed. As for the the whole "quality > quanity" discussion, SB2 did both. And while it did have several NPCs, there were still much more PC's (21?). |

I can't believe I forgot Naked Arms... and I referred to it in the first sentence lolol!

.
which SUCKS because there is NOT enough japanese influenced games who have the potential to do well.
I'm only being partly facetious, this is like a company trope of their's.
