Hondam, you just made my day. And probably forced me to pick Ieyasu first when I get the game. Awesome to hear, thanks for the update

So I got the chance to play the game yesterday at a nearby electronic store. I don't really know what to say except it was amazing, plain and simple. Ieyasu's magma punch skill was great for clearing crowds, and his other skill (don't really know which one it was, but it was a strong punch and if you used the analog stick and pressed the skill button again right after it became an even stronger punch which blew away anyone in front) was pretty awesome too, can't wait to see it leveled up all the way.

Graphics were very smooth, taking bases was extremely fun and flashy, the new dashing feature is a godsend, and the new battle drive is like icing on the cake- a very nice addition to the gameplay. Ieyasu's aerial triangle attack was him literally elbow diving into the ground and knocking out anyone below him. His aerial normal attack was a 3-hit punch combo that is really helpful against the new big enemies. His Basara is also a lot more fun to watch in person, especially his finisher at the end.

But yeah, just amazing. It still feels like a good ol' Basara game on the surface but there's so much more layering now and little, fine touches that just make it extremely bad-ass and even more Basara, if you can imagine that. :hehe:
So, basically you're one of the first to play in the world :hehe: . Man you're lucky. Have you played the proper game or just the 'almost complete' version then?

That punch of Ieyasu's seems awesome ^_^ , can't wait to use it, gonna be a brilliant game. Just want the game overall in all honesty, I tried to play DK the other week but just couldn't, it felt all a bit too slow, and I can imagine Basara 2 being an improvement on DK/Basara 1. I always wondered what his Basara finish would be like, looked similar to how you describe it I think. Thanks :) .

Yeah...everyone gets to play it...thatīs awesome...

Just kidding, Hondam, I asked this NDY too, but what about the difficulty?

Is it ike SB2 and youīre able to beat the hardest difficulty with a level 1 character or does normal (I doubt the demo will be set on easy or hard) feel normal?

You know, grunt sometimes interrupting your combo, if youīre not carefull officers can give you serious damage and of course the "stage boss" being a real challenge?

I donīt expect them to suddenly get the nobel prize, but at least put up some fight would be nice :ph43r:

Hondam, loving the new avatar. Stay thirsty, my friend.

Now, I am actually liking this rendition of Ieyasu. Considering I despise every incarnation of his I've ever seen (except SB3) that is strange. Maybe it's because Liam O'Brien will be voicing him, or something else, but he seems kinda cool now.

Looking forward to some news sometime soon though.

@ Hondam

My jealousy is overflowing...

Curious to know, are Ieyasu's skills, at least the ones present in the demo, chainable? I assume the ground-pound isn't. Or is this trait delegated to only certain characters, such as Mitsunari and Yukimura?

I also 2nd DK's question about difficulty.
+ Are cavalry easier to interrupt when they charge now?

ieyasu is definitely gonna be a new top 3 fav for me not just cause his skills or heroicness just all around he is AWESOME!!! lol.

and i 3rd DKs question, i like games to be not too hard but most definitely not too easy and basara is the best game to even that out

Looks like no update this week, unless it is being delayed.

Also, if Sorin is in the game, it would be wonderful if he wielded a giant Wolfwood sized Cross.

I should probably go to sleep now and stop thinking of dumb ideas, but before I forget, I just wanted to ask you one thing Hondam:

Do you actually "feel" the impact of your hits? This is something that tends to make or break these types of games. Sadly, DW6 made me feel like I was cutting through paper whenever I swung my weapon, there wasn't much satisfaction to it. I don't know if I can explain it real well, but if you understand, let me know how SB3 feels.

Cutting through paper? Wait, were you playing on SIXAXIS or Dualshock? I honestly can't remember if they had a patched update that included the dualshock feature or not. That game was in and out of my memory in a matter of weeks.

Seeing as both consoles have some kind of rumble feature, I think it's safe to say that SB3 would take advantage of that too. It's much more real, and I never thought it was until I replayed a few of my early PS3 games with the DualShock 3 controller. Oh, Folklore turned into HEAVEN with dualshock...

If SB3 doesn't utilize DualShock/Rumble, I'll eat a magpie. In which I'd have to travel quite some distance because I don't think they live in Louisiana... and our birds are quite nasty.

Mmm. I think he meant impact to the hits in the game itself, not rumble or anything. Like do the enemies really seem to be getting hit. Like, say the impacts in Tekken. Basara usually has a bit more impact than Dynasty Warriors, yet it's still kinda floaty. It kinda works out better for Basara because of how often the soldiers get ridiculously tossed in the air.
But I can't really comment on 3 itself~

i don't really care about covers. finally we'll be getting full sengoku basara game. i just hope that will be japanese voices included and can't wait for ps 3 release. i was afraid that will not come in europe. it's surprised me that will be a Wii version but i think that is good idea. i was dissapointed that some characters will not be playable but i like idea of new characters.

Actually, while the intro was the only concrete update, they also put up the link to Hondam's gameplay video that'll be in the update next week. I wasn't expecting any more than that though, so I'm not disappointed. Hopefully next week's Famitsu will bring some new info for us.

Hope to see you back soon Mibu. Good luck.

Thanks for the impressions by the way Hondam. I must repeat the question of the difficulty though.

By the way I never really got a clear answer but where did the opening surface from in the first place?

I'm looking forward to getting this game when it comes out over here for the UK. So far from what I've seen this look like it will be a good game even if there is quite a lot of NPC in it. :)

Also has anyone noticed that the intro vid thats just been put up on the main site music has changed from the previous one, it doesn't 'Naked arms' playing in the background of it.

Hondam,
Thanks for the impressions...and making everyone jealous.
Good to know the gameplay tweaks are all for the best.
DK already asked about the difficulty - something I am curious about as well - but I'd like to ask how does the base conquering feature work.
Is it simply like the Anegawa mission in SB2 + stat boosts?

Anyway, I assume we can expect new characters next week, right?

Mibu Kyoshiro,
If your country is the one I've been seeing very much lately in the news, then I'm certain you are in considerably dire straits. All I can say is that you have my sympathies, friend.
You do well in fighting for your civil rights but in all seriousness, make sure you get back home in one piece.
Best of Luck!

Why are they so easy to predict the last weeks?

Probably more NPCs? Check.
Probably 1 Kotaro with two NPCs? Check.
Probably only the intro and some video date? Check.

Now letīs week will be an update with one playable and four NPCs.
Itīs a pattern Koba wanted to use with Kotaro and the other four NPCs and I guess thatīs the one heīll continue to use.

So weīll have at least one playable next week. AND HONDAM FTW!
I bet our Hondam will be happy to hear about next weekīs video, as much as I do...canīt wait to see his thunder god BASARA.

BTW, against who has our Sengoku Gundam fighting...Mitsunari?

I doubt that.
Itīs now exactly 12 weeks till the game comes out.

Normally thatīs the time the hype train will be started to get people to pre-order the game or to want to buy it first day. (looks at a good PR management like Mario Galaxy 2 were over the last three months trailers, infos, etc. were released as well as Red Dead Redemption)

If they think itīs enough to just add some stuff shortly before itīs release, I really want to know, if they asked the 100 year old magical fish prince of some mystical lake to make that PR strategy for them.

There simply HAS to be something next week. Or else the interest rate will drop to Sub Zero, get pierced through by Scorpion and get the Fatality of itīs life, called reality.

I mean CAPCOM shouldīve realized by now, that even a lot of the hardcore fans believe itīs only 15 characters thatīll be playable.

Someone who just randomly follows SB3, suddenly sees the skill trailer for 15 characters and reads everywhere of 15 playable characters gets a bit dissapointed.

I mean after hearing biggest roster ever (SB2 still has more playables and overall more characters so itīs not the biggest) and A LOT (A lot.: a. A large extent, amount, or number.) of new characters and then seeing the end result, itīs understandable that a lot are dissapointed and lose interest after hearing broken promises of the man who did that with DMC4 too.

They have to act against that. Cause I bet thatīs not it...and if itīs not done soon, itīll lose to Super Mario Galaxy 2 even though itīs released two months later.

And Iīm faithfull enough that CAPCOM has realized that and will act accordingly. Cīmon CAPCOM, make Sengoku BASARA famous worldwide.

Try to extend the fanbase and get more people to enjoy this wonderfull franchise and not milk those who are loyal to you, even in times of Kobamindfarts.

I wonder why they changed the music on the video? Could it possibly be that it isn't really the intro to the game, and just another fancy trailer instead. Although it could be a rights issue and that is why the music is different on their site (would explain why the mysterious video popped up with the song but this didn't have it - was the vid the one uploaded to PSN?). I could see them using this version of it for the international release tho if they take out Naked Arms.

You might be right...the video name might give us a hint at what it is...someone who can read it, is this the opening or just some fancy "PR trailer"?

The opening on the site is labeled as 'Opening Movie 1' so maybe there'll be another one that's uploaded later that will have 'Naked Arms' playing and/or it'll be a characters opening like how SB2H had as an alternate opening video.

As AdawgDaFAB mentioned, there is a mild possibility that 'Naked Arms' won't appear on the overseas release but I don't think this particular update has anything to do with it, as it is an update on the Japanese site.
If we want to be optimistic, perhaps they are saving it for the full opening sequence that will feature all the new playable characters. Notice how the scenes with Maggie, Tsuru, Kurokan and Yoshi had a very "Soul Calibur 1 intro" feel into them (I'm sure those who played it know what I mean by this), meaning they can allow for other sequences to be easily edited between them.

Regarding the deadline - 12 weeks til release? Bearing in mind the possibility of the full roster being revealed by a month before release (like what happened with RE5GE and SSFIV) and what seems the possibility of a gameplay video update for every character, it seems the roster really will be limited. I'm expecting 19/20 PCs at most (and that's being optimistic).
I don't think we should trust the previous claims of "biggest roster ever" and "lots of new characters". Kobayashi has flat out lied in the past and there's no guarantee he won't do it again.

A couple of things I forgot asking Hondam:
- did you notice if the game kept the elemental effects feature?
- did you manage to see the pre and/or post battle menus? If they're like 2's, the layout could give us enough hints if stuff like weapons, armor and items are still in the game.
