Well, Iīm not exactly comparing SB2:H...Iīm just saying itīs the best.

And robotzombie, you do know, that Iīm not talking about the combination of SB2 and SB2:H, Iīm talking about the expansion itself.

I donīt need SB2 to fully enjoy SB2:H.

You can leave Ranmaruīs candy hunt, Nohīs Iīm pregnant ending, Kasugaīs orgasm baywatch dreaming, Masamuneīs and Yukimuraīs "climax" battles and all the other stories.

I enjoy the game without those stories...I play the game because of the characters...not because I want to see some dramatic cutscenes or some battles that Iīll play in a row with some text and cheesy dialogue in-between.

Iīve had the HEROES stories and they were more epic than any of the other SB2 stories. And I had the VS. mode, as well as the Unification mode and Tournament mode + Free Mode to play as all the characters. Heck I even enjoyed playing as clone Kennyo and doing his pill muscle beserk moves and his dropkick.

So itīs not unfair to compare a standalone 30 bucks expansion, with a "fully fletched out and priced next gen game".

Again, donīt care for the story mode and as NDY once said, Iīd take more unique characters over some story mode anyday.

Again, just me, Iīm an old school fan. In Final Fight, I didnīt care a bit for a story mode, but itīd been nice, if Final Fight 3 had more characters to offer, like Golden Axe 3, were you could play as 4 different characters, adding to the replay value immensly.
(I love that Panther warrior from Golden Axe 3 :shifty: )

Off-Topic:

LadyGetsuei , youīre playing Bayonetta?

Then you have to unlock the secrect weapons...pillow talk and the one I like to call "Soi Fon" are extremely awesome:

Hereīs a video that shows the weapon and items and how you unlock them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwGmtlWB1-g

And yes, there will be more characters. Or at least one more character, since it said, as RZ said, "more than 15 playable characters"...more than is normally used for one or two more, but Iīll still hope for 4-5.

EDIT:

Oh and RZ, Tekken hit the expectations more than anything, as well as Street Fighter IV. So those are two fighters that did it right, one even made by CAPCOM

And in Brawl...it wasnīt really the size that mattered, rather than the choices for characters and the "clones" that upset fans, me included...damn Captain Ganondorf moveset...heīs the king of darkness...give him some pain bringing moveset, not some GANON PUCH. <_<

Regarding the overseas release debate, I don't think anyone here truly wants the title to not succeed, but we have to be realistic about it - it's the black sheep among Capcom's offerings. Their "what-the-hell-let's-see-if-it-works" title, if you will.
Certainly we all want SBSH to succeed. It's success means future sequels, expansions and even the assorted paraphernalia might make it to the West.
But let's look at it in a positive light - releasing the title overseas as is (no Devil Kings butchery) means Capcom are willing to give the genre a fresh new try and all things point out that we'll be getting - audio aside - the same game as the Japanese, so we won't feel as cheated as with Devil Kings.
It's up to the consumers now. I won't lie, it doesn't look good for the title. The gaming press had no kind words towards it so it's up to us to nag everyone into buying it. Fortunately, our illustrious grand administrator Jsun has been playing an important role by including updates on the main page, so other hack n' slash fans are potential buyers.
Bottom line: think of this as a long term investment. If this succeeds here, we might get lucky and see sequels making it outside the Land of the Rising Sun.

On the off-topicness, I'm still itching to experience Kamiya-san's new magnum opus first hand. Still need to buy my PS3 too. But I need to finish other things before that. Work comes first, I'm afraid.

Its not like Capcom is withholding the game though. They not running around sayin "Well if it doesn't sell well overseas, then SCREW YOU NA/EU! WE DON'T NEED YOU! WE HAVE JAPAN! NYA NYA NYAAA NYAN!" Like imature little children. Releasing a game overseas definitely doesn't ensure better sales and more money, it costs money to re-sell it, more than you would think, (though, Like Tetsuo said, a game like this is nowhere near as expensive as other title) so when it does poorly, they obviously aren't going to continue it, because they will lose money. NO company in their right mind would loose money just so a few gamers can have their game in their own language. Japan is safe for them to release in, and its always there to buy their games and make profit, America is a very hard bargin full of people who won't give the game the damn chance it deserves. If they end up not releasing any more SB:SHs then its simply because it was a lot more work than it was worth, its not a slap in the face of NA/EU, its just the title didn't work out over here. Them having low expectations for it is a good thing, because the game ain't going to do well over here, far too many ignorant people who will play two levels, mildly enjoy themselves, then rant about how crappy this game is, and how its just a 'Warriors Clone'. < those are the people far too many of our gaming population listens to. =/

I think the best chance this game has to do well overseas is KW surprisingly. We are pne of the very few sights that promote this game, and its getting attention. Plus I think many Warriors fans would highly enjoy themselves with this game, and might get a kick at how Capcom portrays some of the Sengoku figures that they have seen in SW. There are a few "SB bashers" who love nothing more than to tear apart this series while not playing it or even knowing much about it, there are still many people who genuinly look forward to this game, but just don't post here at all or often. The SB bashers are just more outspoken (and should be ignored for eveyone's sake) This game will sell an okay amount of copies. Maybe enough to keep it going in the West for a few more entries, maybe not.

Thats all I have to say =D Sorry if I upset anyone.

But, the thing is, the expansion only exists because of the work put into the original SB2. You can't compare SB3 to SB2H because it just doesn't make sense. SB2H had tons of pre-existing work already done to take advantage of, that's what I mean by that, not just the story modes and such.

The original SB2 didn't really add many new playable characters at all. It had a nice roster, but one that was well prepared from SB1. The advances of SB3 from 2 make it that much more difficult to simply take the work that was already done from previous games. So looking at it from SB2 --> SB3, I don't really see how people could be so vehemently against this game.

And while I wholeheartedly agree with you about not caring about the story modes all that much and that more characters = more fun for me personally as well, the problem is that story is a big part for a lot of gamers, so a big fleshed out story mode has to be taken into account as a positive for the game, even if we personally don't care for that.

Thank you, another one with sense! :hehe:

Thinking pessimistically, though? It's basically RGG/Yakuza all over again. Once again, we have a perfectly fine Japanese product being brought over seas that:

a) won't get much support from its publisher, as well as
b) the product being shot down by "professional" reviewers and insipid gamers alike, who are prone to try and compare the game to either its nearest competitor (Musou in BASARA's case) and/or what it clearly is not trying to be (DMC in BASARA's case, GTA for Yakuza in both cases)

So while I would like to see the game flourish, in the end, as I've said from jump street months ago: I can't care for the product any more than Capcom does themselves. If they aren't the strongest champions for this game's cause, then it's just another in the line of missed opportunities relating to the series' history. Not unlike Sengoku BASARA X and SBBH, which really could have been better games than what they ended up being.

Um, are there scans this week? That would be awesome. And it should be today, or else I''m going to get scared that these really are all of the characters. Because, there isn't a site update this week, right?

Plus, I really just want more characters. Well, really even ONE new character that is beast and I can actually play as, would be nice. But, really I 'm looking for a revamped version of an already awesome character ( But not even close to being awesome enough for me to be excited for him if he's in.....), and "the villian". Hedeie would be very nice.

Whoever just picked up a PS3 ( I think it was Hondam, but not entirely sure), here's a list of the msot amazing games for PS3: YAKUZA 3/4( Became my favorite game in one week, playing the first one, on the PS2, five years after it was released, on PS2. Yes, they are all awesome, and you can recap at the beginning of every game so that you know what's going on. So, yeah, it's awesome. GO BUY IT!)MGS4, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, LBP, and then there's other shotters that you probably won't be intersted in, because, well people in Japan tend to not love shooters, but if you like em':Killzone 2, Resistance 1/2 Modern Warfare / Call of duty 4, and yeah that's pretty much it. Plus, the FF13 version has better graphics, audio, then that XBOX version. And, it comes on one disc opposed to 3. Basically, every game is better on PS3. it can run better audio/visuals than the XBOX on every game. So, yeah that makes it awesome. Unless, the people who make the game do something to change that, like InfintyWard made the visuals the same for the PS3 when they could''ve easily done more.......And the Japanese Tales of Vesperia is loaded with ten times more content then the 360 version, and the PS3 verision is Japan only which sucks........

EDIT: Balder, Yakuza 3 actually got good reviews from everyone except for Gameinformer, but they're stupid. They said it had no lock-on system, and that the graphics were outdated, and the gameplay, but they didn't know that the game was realeased in early 2009, meaning most was developed in 2008. However, none of the other reviewers took that into account, and it still got great ratings.

I don't think that this is the greatest amount of characters SB3 will have.Although i expected a lot more characters by i'm not really disappointed.I know that many hopes for this ngame have been crushed by Koba's ideas but as long as i get to play as Ieyasu and Kanbei i'm good.

By the way does Yukimura's english voice sound like Ichigo Kurosaki's voice. Also what do you guys think of my new avatar.

So if you look at it that way, that the work and the "preworked" characters from SB2 affected the SB2:H release postive...why isnīt it working for SB3?

Why is it, that perfectly fine characters canīt be added?

SB2 added the Tournament Mode, added a different and new story mode, added the overworked Unification mode, added 3 new and three old new playable characters (same amount as SB3 for now), added the shop and money, added the BASARA drive feature, added more variety in stages with shortcuts and secret passages, added armors and joke weapons as well as epic new final weapons and cool new alternate costumes.

So all in all, itīs not only a bigger roster, it perfected SB1 with more modes and content.

Now it should be SB3īs turn to take the basics from SB1 + the content and modes from SB2 and mix that with the new gameplay changes from SB3...but it doesnīt.

It just drops all that SB2 achieved for the sake of a damn expansion.

why canīt they just make the full game and bring out an expansion, that can actually be called expansion and not "stuff that couldīve been added, but wasnīt because we were afraid you wouldnīt buy the expansion otherwise".

I mean...they buy damn cow tongue flavoured BASAR chips...why wouldnīt they buy the expansion? Did they really need hostages in form of Sasuke, Matsu, Kasuga, Kenshin, Kojuuro, etc.?

Itīs not like they try out a ground breaking new fighting system and gameplay elements like the (sadly failed) Renbu system.

It just adds dashing, combo chaining and other stuff that helps to pace up the gameplay. Itīs great and all, but they couldīve achieved that along adding all the previous characters and things that made SB2 great...I mean they had time adding their models and at least some parts of their moveset, as well as their BASARA attack...but not enough to add them as a playable character?

And yes, nobody wants to fail it over here, but one thing is true:

It wonīt die, if it doesnīt work over here. Itīs just that it wonīt be more either. Itīll stay the frog in the well, never reaching beyond to grasp the wide sea. <_<

And isnīt it kinda pathetic, that the people who actually pay for their work, have to do their work and advertise the game?

I mean, I donīt mind it at all, since if it helps SB get more fans over here, with talking about it, translating and subbing videos and getting them on the KW site (thanks for all the effort guys and girls  )...but itīs really sad that we do their work and even pay for it, with buying SB:SH -_-

Looks at all the long posts and is stunned that so many people actually discuss here instead of calling me the "Mitsunari of the SB board"...I miss that name...why is no one upset... :ph43r:

I guess the hope for news and even a playable character drives us nuts

It canīt be long...thereīs gotta be something soon :!:

For your first question, the answer is because SB2:H is an exact continuation of SB2, using the same exact models, stages, engine, etc. SB3 is a brand new game using brand new materials on updated and more powerful systems (Wii is more powerful than PS2 and the Wii version of SB2 didn't take advantage of the system in the least bit)

As for your other information, well you obviously have more information than the rest of us, because no one else knows anything about those modes, possible new modes, the weapon/armor/costume system, etc. So I really don't understand how you could say that SB3 doesn't have any of that, when that information just isn't available yet.

For all of your massive complaint filled posts, all it really is about is the character number, and you seem to be disowning the entire game based on that fact. And the amazing part is, that isn't even finalized yet either...

I can see your point with the rest of your post, but just a reminder that joke weapons were in the original Sengoku Basara. Well, they were in Devil Kings so I assume they were

@ xXBasaraIsBestXx

There are gonna be scans, but they just aren't up at the moment, I suppose. If I knew whatever corners of teh interwebz update with Famitsu scans I would check there.
And there IS a site update this Thursday: Hondam's gameplay video, + whatever (if any) info that would be in this weeks Famitsu.
