Actually, I'm not pissed. I think somewhere along the lines I did a complete 180 and now I'm just humored by it than annoyed. I mean, wasn't it just a few weeks ago people here were trying to convince to me that quality is better than quantity, and then what does Koba do? Instead of one, even two playable or NPCs, he decides to rain support characters upon us instead. It's just downright hilarious. The system seems nice (I'd probably use the one that carry food/supplies the most, as I remember DK at least being a pain to regain health), and the option for using the other PCs is pretty good (especially if they're actually USEFUL). But, 100 peeps is a bit much. I can't imagine using all of them, unless there was an trophy for it for the PS3. I'll use Heavy Weapons Guy and the Medic, but that'll be it as far as those characters go, I think. |

Because not all of them are bad, they do have some good things to say and your wrong actually capcom have strong ties with the west thanks to their SF, MvC, and resident evil series' you'd be surprised on just how much they DO listen (of course Koba is excluded he does what he wants) Looking at the UNPC some of their designs are even better than the characters we do have playable let alone the characters the are standard NPC WTH is up with that LMAO That guy in the blue with the tiger looks kick ass so does the old looking ninja and the girly/guy ninja dude and that HUGE guy, why didn't he not consider them as PCs (i just don't get it)Edit: and I know I don't say it enough so I'd thought I'd say it now THANK you for the scans BK without you my Basara vision would remain in darkness Although Koba does make it a little hazy now and then

wow these 6 are so cool and they have unique designs and costumes im automatically considering them NPCS.... i mean just give them all distinct weapons from each other, and voila! theres 6 NPCS/PCS right there! these 6 r gonna be important in the future....probably NPC or PC in heroes or sb4 |

I say, in this situation, that there are far too many reviewers that are unfair and bad. The good ones are hard to find, and are usually assigned to review unfitting games for them. But this isn't SF, this isn't MvC, this isn't resident evil. Those have fan bases overseas, larger ones. So it would be useful for Capcom to listen to them. In Basara's situation, it is the absolute opposite. It looks to me like that Blue Tiger guy can use the Kamehameha, my new favourite character has arrived. |

Just FYI for who's who in that scan: Top left: Utsunomiya Hirotsuna Top right: Satake Yoshishige Middle left: Nanbu Harumasa Middle right: Amago Haruhisa Bottom left: [insert muteki line here] Bottom right: Anegakoji Yoritsuna Save Muteki, all other warlords seem to have their own stages. And it looks like the difference between your usual NPCs and these warlords other than being more generic-looking is because they're not having too important of a role in the storyline. |

I see your point i really do but that is totally Kobas fault there is this word "hustle" which is to make the most out of a situation to benefit from it as much as you can. Can you honestly say Koba has Hustled the Basara Bandwagon to its full potential all of the Basara fans that are in good or Bad minds about this title can say No (and i'm talking about all that it could be not what you make the most of)and these new UNPC is the best and/or worst thing he could of done because the most asked question for newcomers is going to be "Is he/she Playable" - "No" is going to be the answer 90% of the time and thats not good enough JUST DON'T ADD THEM it lessens its appeal of the title and since Koba keeps bragging about how cool the characters are.... "then why aren't 90% of them playable?" |

Bodyguards? We don't need no stinkin' bodyguards! I'm a ruthless card-carrying tyrant, I don't need any help! On a more serious note, I'm still not too certain on what to think of this. On one hand, the inclusion of "backup" for the player character, who in principle should be sufficiently capable to wipe the area singularly, could mean that the game will be a lot more challenging than the prequels. However, on the other hand, we got majestically duped. These characters having their own stages, as robotzombie pointed our, completely foiled our expectations for region-representing PCs. And worst of it, I'm certain we all feel that these 100 glorified mooks are taking the place of what could be at least 5 much more welcome PCs. Perhaps this may work in the end, but so far and in a purely theoretical perspective, adding these elements sort of soils the Basara experience a bit. It's a straight action game with some RPG-esque elements. I hope they don't turn it into a RPG with some action game elements. Already customizing the character is sufficient. Now imagine having to form a party before going into battle, consulting dozens of Stats and Skill files. I hope I'm wrong, but it appears that they are trying to complicate something that doesn't need to be complicated. |

Come now, you're just taking it from one extreme to the other. That is pure nonsense that they would make this an RPG or a Sim game. Did anyone say for BASARA 2 "oh hey they added coins to pick up, I bet next we'll have to go to towns and buy red potions and the next filler level of equipment"? Besides, that's too much work for Capcom.

Well, the images aren't exactly clear, so maybe there are a few melons lost somewhere in the wave of sausages? I'd give up on the hope of there being more boobs, if I were you. Unless he pulls one or two out of the hat at the last minute, just assume he never said that at all. The more I know about Koba, the more I think he might be the Japanese version of Michael Bay. Terrible, overuses certain trophes, but people are just too humored by him to REALLY try stopping him from making movies/games. |

Great update, love Haruhisa's design. Also happy that it was Satake Yoshishige and not Yoshihide. I can say now though, that I expect the following guys not to be PCs based on some of the Support designs I'm seeing: Kato Kiyomasa(white tiger helmet is a big sign) Fukushima Masanori(he's in the back in red with the horns on his helmet) Kuroda Nagamasa(well he wouldn't have been in anyway, so good that he's a Support instead; he's the guy with a black satellite dish helmet) Hosokawa Tadaoki(guy with the bullet-shaped helmet with white fur tail) Kani Saizo(the bamboo shoots on Anegakoji are Saizo's trademark) Suzuki Shigeoki(pretty positive he'll be one of the riflemen, particularly that guy with a rifle mounted on top of his helmet) Honda Tadamasa (Hondam's son, don't ask me how that works, but the guy has a freakin' statue of Hondam on top of his helmet there) Kuki Yoshitaka or Inatomi Sukenao (the guy toting the massive cannon) BTW, I'm shaking my head at some of you guys right now. Making these models(of which I bet most are just part-swapped of generic officer models and movesets) is not something that would take a really significant amount of time at all, and the fact these guys are confirmed to do a lot more than mere Koei bodyguards(which y'all were so quick to assume they were; funny, that) makes them a worthwhile addition to the whole of SB3. You realize the chances of most of these guys being playable is zero? You realize that maybe there's some of us who would have liked to see certain guys in the game but knew that there's no way they'd be playable because of either importance or whatever reasons, and thus this would be a good way to satisfy that? Plus with this basically removing a ton of males from the "possibility pool," the chances of maybe one or two more female characters has risen. Edited by SRS, Wed May 19, 2010 5:41 am.

So....these support units....which do a variety of things, of which you can have up to 4 to accompany you...? Is this meant to be perhaps an "interesting" revision of the BASARA-item system, perhaps? I mean, I'd like to think that these units could make for some nice game play additions. Even more so if they can be something like Rockman Zero Cyber Elves, and can also "die" (which means you would lose your effect). ![]() An interesting development, to say the least. I'm still a bit perturbed at the fact that we're basically a month away from the JP release, much less about a whole year later since this game was unveiled, and the "hype train" still has yet to really get in motion. Any time, now, Capcom and Koba-tachi~

Very sorry, Seraphil, that not everyone is going to be super duper happy with the update. I don't necessarily hate it (sadden to know that it's two games now that Masanori just missed being playable, but at least there is some hope in one of the two games in the future). But at the same time, I'm not head over heels for it. I'll use one or two, but I really could care less about the lot of them. It's just Koba trying to shove in as many characters as possible, if only to kind of shut up the fans ("hey look, I put them in technically, now get off my back!") Though you raise a good point that half of them wouldn't have been important enough to make it in anyways, but still, it worries me about the future of the game series. So many characters available as support... does that mean that they --might-- be playable in the future (maybe an updated design, but seeing as Basara doesn't alter designs with Ieyasu being the only exception), or is this possibly the last main game in the series (not including possible expansions and such)? I know it's too early to be thinking about that, but if this is going to be the only time we see guys like Masanori, Kiyomasa or Hosakawa, then that kind of limits who COULD be playable in the next game. That's my major concern. It's way too early to think that this is it, but what if it is? If it is meant to have some kind of chronological order, then there isn't much to be done after Sekigahara, is there? Just a concern of mine... it looks like they're throwing out ALL of the possibilities in one go, like it's a last ditch effort to get as many names in as possible. Sorry if not all of us are going to see things with the optimism goggles, but this is Basara. Any given update being snubbed is pretty much a given at this point. |

I'm happy with Haruhisa and Yoshishige. Don't care if they are Support characters. Although the other guys seems really weird. I honestly think that the musket helmet guy is Tanegashima Hisatoki, Shimazu's shooter. I also think there's Saito Toshimitsu in the back. Well, we'll find out about the truth later. |

Any guesses for who the Heavy Weapons Guy is? (Lower right, me thinks). For a NPC support character, he looks interesting to me (or she... really, I can't tell yet). "I am Heavy Weapons Samurai... and this... is my Weapon. WHO TOUCHED SASHA?" |

LOL, I never thought I would get into the game like that! Guess I found the first support ally I'll choose. Anyway, I was kinda miffed too at first, but as Seraph said a new system is always good. I wonder what kind of stages they'll have, though? Probably simple stuff like Musashi and Matsunaga's stages in SB2H's conquest mode.... Even if they are UNPCs, their inclusion makes this feel like a real "Sengoku" game, doesn't it. I'm buying Famitsu tomorrow.... |
