@DK: Perfect. Thank you. Remember, DK. When debating with Koba, don't just whine about changes you don't like, but scream "I AM A MAN!!" and punch him in the guts. The avatar demonstrates.
Someone needs to photoshop Linkara's hat over his hood. Then it'd be perfect.

I'm really hoping Yoshihiro gets more relevance this time around. He's been screwed over for far too long. This is his time to shine.

And now,time to offer...my...

Ah,damn it!Can't I be more late???Oh well.

Saw the Oichi one, received a strange kind of pain[in the mind] and pleasure[?] out of that.I blame Noto for making Ichi even sexier when she's creepy and a female[if I'm allowed as a Guilty Gear fan too] Zato-1/Eddie...wonder who her Millia will be.

Also liked her new fighting style, reminiscent of her old one,but with the demon hands...looks like her bro's demon blood awakened in her too...ahem.[Too much DMC]

Anyway...

i know this may be a little off topic but a thought just came to me

since this game is gana be on the Wii, do you think this may increases the chances of one of Sengoku Basaras characters appearing in a future Smash Bros as a 3rd party character? (like snake and sonic in Brawl)

if so, id want Oichi. shes a fan and staff favorite, hence why shes in sengoku basara: samurai heroes, when historically she wasn't in this era.

and it would be cool seeing her interact with the classic nintendo characters, maybe due to her dark powers shed be aligned with Bowser and Ganondorf?

like them using her for her powers ... and stuff ... ?

... maybe ... ?

*wishful thinking*

I don't think it's likely.Snake and Sonic had ties with Nintendo[Snake started at the Nes-SNES and SEGA is under a 10 year contract under Nintendo] but the Sb characters...hardly do.

i know, it was just wishful thinking on my part

oh well, it would be cool if it could happen, but i know it probably never will.

Sengoku Basara characters being in smash brothers has even less of a chance for the White Album remake to make it out of Japan.

Not only are Sonic and Snake old classics, they're worldwide video gaming icon of franchises who sell millions. Basara is just some smchuck niche garbage newcomer compared to their legacies (and I can say that even though I DETEST the Sonic the Hedgehog series).

That, and if Capcom were to cooperate with Nintendo to add a character to SSBB, they would most likely use the more popular 'mascot' to be included. In this case it's very probable to be Rockman(Megaman).

And even if SB is represented in a very odd chance, most likely the represented character is the series main character, our 'Head of Oushuu'.

^I thought Masa and Yuki were the mains.Oh well, not that this bothers me.[GO BOSS!!!!!! ...Yup die hard Masamune fan.]

But it wouldn't impossible to add Mega in Smash, since he too has a history with Nintendo, but Snake and Sonic were "special guests" either way,so it was a one time deal, probably? :?:

Glad you like it NJB.

Well, as I said, Iīm allready over the fact. Iīve waited a damn long time for SB3 and even longer for a new Twisted Metal.

At least I know that Iīll be able to play as Kennyo and Matsu again sometime...1-2 years maybe...*sigh*

Iīm only asking for one more character that isnīt a sparkly schoolgirl or an emo trying to be bad (I like Mitsunari...but as I said, I want my villain if I canīt have my favourite female and joke character)

EDIT:

Also I heard some people say thereīs no update next week...well...itīs not going to be grand, but seeing as we got the trailer with stuff we donīt know about, namely weapons system and the items, we can at least say weīre going to get some gameplay info.

Maybe thereīs a famitsu scan with the weapon stuff and explaining how that works with the emaki mode.

Koba really needs to gear up a bit, but it seems he allready shot his big guns and saves the last bullet for russian roulette.

I doubt itīll be soon till he fills the last PC spot and by that the last character video spot, but itīll be soon. Also letīs not forget that Koba still has to say a few words on modes, some artworks, maybe even mention something about the online stuff that was said on the TGS2009 and then simply ignored to death?

So we should expect an update each week from now on.

And BTW, again, does anyone remember when Musashi was revealed back then on the SB2 site? Was it before or after the release?

Ohhhh...come on DK!What makes you think that the NPCs in SB3...heroes?/SUPER TURBO SB...whatever expansion, won't be playable...I believe that we may even have a gaiden for the mains, the new comers[Ieyasu counts there too] and a unified NPCs[Matsu,Inuchiyo and the rest] turn to PCs gloryfied gaiden.Or something like that...LET"S ZABII!!

They revealed Musashi before the release of the game. They showed him on the tail-end of their last Character Skills trailer if I remember correctly.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention some info I had found on Famitsu:

Every character will have 12 weapons, and they can be powered up fliling their slots with certain items. Same thing goes for armors. These power-up pieces are found in stages, after defeating generals.

and before anyone else says it...yeah, it's just like Musou Orochi. and FF7. and many other games. Get over it, it's a common power up method...

Anyway, 12 weapons guys. Let's hope they're gonna be cool.

Any word on whether the weapon power ups will replace items from SB2? Because if the weapon powerups have similar effects to the items then this'll be great since there are more spots on the weapons than there were for items. Plus however many slots we get for armors... sounds like a good thing to me.

Oh man...things to get even more powerfull?

I hope they really spiced up the difficulty...I mean...allmost no pauses during skills and S-Strings, Bullettime, Items, Bodyguards and Weapon upgrades...now imagine playing Co-op with all that stuff...

If itīs like SB2...I donīt like picking on the weak...at least if I donīt play as a character like Mitsuhide -_-

DJ, in the newest "gameplay trailer" it was shown next to the weapons system, that it seems the items are back, since I spotted some masks, orbs and amuletts that looked like the old items.

Maybe someone could confirm it by watching the trailer and read what the speaker says or what those signs mean.

I have no problem with it being a common power-up method. I'm just hoping that BASARA won't be privy to some of the "problems" that are common with this power-up method. Namely, in the form of "Homogenization" and "Completely and Utterly Broken gameplay." :hehe:

What I mean by that is this: In pretty much every iteration of the Materia-type system, two main issues usually crop up. One relates to how, in the end, most paths usually end up with characters being powered-up in the same way, which usually means that the main difference that separates the characters are their special moves. The other (and some times running tandem with the former) usually succeeds in breaking the game, to the point where any remaining challenge is non-existent.

Understood that being able to tap into this meta-game usually boils down to those who are able to understand the game on an intricate level. But I still hope that Koba-tachi won't just allow for things that take away challenge, and pretty much enforce that there's only 1-2 main power-up paths for every body. Variety was the spice that made the previous games so interesting, because no one item lay-out suited everybody, and I'd hate to see that much lost in SB3.

The only reason enemies were even remotely difficult was because of the BASARA Drive and even then, they were still easy. The revamped parrying system in SB2H made it even easier since characters with moves that took time to charge (Motochika, Masamune, and especially Yoshihiro (OHKO FTW  ) could be used now.

And it's very likely the old item system is gone. I really hope they bring the +Hits items back. They were great for gold farming

DK summed up and HNB explained well my own qualms with all these "upgrades" to the player's arsenal (don't forget the Super Skills, DK!) and their potential effects on the gameplay experience.
Regarding what HNB mentioned about the weapons customization, the same could be applied to the bodyguards - if one stands out as being particularly useful, I can see everybody and the cat going to battle with him.
As I said before, the inclusion of a "extra hand" raises questions on how difficult the game will be. In theory, the point of these titles is for the player to control a character sufficiently powerful to single-handedly end a mass scale battle.
All this "help" seems to hint both that the game can be God Hand Hard or Okami Easy.
I'm all for a increase in difficulty but let's not forget this is a stylish hack n' slash game. If the enemies are so aggressive that the player besides being unable to "showboat", will be spending the majority of the mission fighting for dear life, part of the fun might be lost.

About the unique generics - so far we only know six of them. When they were announced, Famitsu had a CG illustration of many unique generics clustered, with Muteki-sama taking central stage. As you noticed, many shared similar silly hats.
My doubt: do you think we will be getting more unique generics like the last 6 or, as I'm finding more likely, most of those in that CG were named grunts with hats illustrative of their "function", like those with a tiger hat being accompanied by said beast and those with cannon hats being the kind of soldiers that are inside the Zabii tank (remember that NDY's translation mentioned soldiers would come out of it and attack the player)? What do you think?

Well, thatīs what easy and normal are for. If you are the type that just wants to run around and beat the crap out of everyone and get a high combo count without any resistance, thatīs fince...I like that too

But once I learned to use a character and got him powered up (even without using his highest weapon, items, etc.) itīs breeze to blaze through hundreads of enemies.

Ha? You want a hard time? Then donīt use the super skills, items, weapon upgrades, bodyguards, etc. (seriously, some game developers said, if the game is too easy, donīt use the things that make it easier...what a joke  )

For those new features a lot of playable characters were sacrificed and also, they are a major part of the gameplay. So thatīs not an option. Or at least shouldnīt be the kind of "difficulty level" a game designer should work to <_<

They donīt need to bully on you and interrupt your combos...but they should A) Have a higher attack/defense/life bar.

Of course this doesnīt add much in terms of AI, but itīs a start so they can put up resistance.

B) As I said, maybe not interrupt combos, but punish mistakes. For example if a player gets cocky and taunts the enemy during the fight, the AI should instantly take that as an invitation and beat the crap out of the player. As well as the pauses in combos and skills. They are rare, at least it seems, thanks to the new system.
But for example, when I was playing with Yoshihiro and missed (he really had a damn slow recover time) 80% of the time, the grunts just stood there. (even officers)

Of course thatīs nice considering they didnīt want to pick on an old man...but I just thought...wow... what do I need to do to get these guys attacking me seriously.

Thatīs why I say, now that they are so rare, those mistakes should be punished. Itīs also a way for the player to learn when to use and combine certain moves correctly.

Balder, you mentioned God Hand. I played through all the modes, even took the challenge to never use your special moves (since that paper you had on your back on the beginning falls of once you use it) since it unlocked something...donīt remember what though

It was a really...really...really hard game, not only because of sometimes unfair power balances (mostly in boss battles or those demon forms) but what made it so hard was the fact that every mistake resulted in some sort of action that showed me...it was a mistake. Even the smallest grunt could be my end if I messed up badly. So I learned the movement patterns of the enemies, learned when to use which attack and improved my own combos.

Same as Monster Hunter. Of course some of the beasts are really unfair in terms of life bar or attack power...but most of the time you are to blame. Itīs because you attacked too soon, too late or made the wrong move. Of course button mashing might get you somewhere, but thatīs not a way to play a game (at least not for me)

Some might say, they donīt play BASARA to learn movelists and study enemy patterns, but damn, even in Final Fight there were enemies were you had to think a bit. And Iīm not talking about bosses, I talk about normal grunts. As well as Golden Axe. Those skelletons were really quick attackers, while the mages were harmless once you dodged their lightning balls.

Thatīs what my problem was with SB2. 70% of the enemies in SB could be defeated without using any kind of strategy. You could just mash at them and they didnīt even think about evading, blocking or grouping together and attack. They just stood there and waited to see, which attack youīd use to button mash your way through them :hmmm:

Iīm not saying they should spoil the fun now and give them God Hand like abilities. But on the harder difficulty they could do a side step once in a while and attack you from the side or attack you, when you stand there, finger in nose, because you understimate them. The "stage boss" shouldnīt be the only thing that puts up a fight -_-

EDIT:

@Balder...yep, I think those are the 6. Everyone else will be either some color swapped grunt or a kitten helmet wearing grunt.

Though the option having Matsu at your side and looking at her pulling of her "wolf rush BASARA" is more than enough to make that system worth it. Nothing is more fun than being reminded of the fact how awesome a chracter wouldīve been if he were playable :ph43r:

Hmmm...it would be cool, but I doubt it.

Sasuke and Kojuuro would have top priority out of them, I guess, seeing as they are one of the most popular characters, just behind MasaYuki.

They might be hopefully deciding out of one(not saying i want only one but it is way more likely than that, but still very unlikely) of them to pick, so then keiji doesn't take the role of 2 clans like he does so if they say picked matsu she would represent maeda and he would then just represent uesugi, well it would be cool if they was any ways -_-

Seriously. By this point in time, the roster is a lock. Game's probably a few weeks away from being confirmed "Gold" status, plus or minus a few glitches that are being worked out. There aren't going to be any more additions not already programmed into the game.

So, basically 1-4 more additions we have to look forward, to eh? I'm hoping for the best. :)
