Well thatīs what I basically meant with Sony PSN, Nintendo "Granny commercial". Thatīs what CAPCOM should try. Put on some themeīs of BASARA(Cīmon I mean Iīd kill for a BASARA Artwork PS3 theme...and many moreīd like that too, since not only BASARA fans praise them), some trailers, maybe even the talked of demo. And for the Wii some Nintedo styled commercials. Thatīs what everyone does and it worked till now. Then of course put in the FUNimation version as much commercial as possible, further increasing the radius of people who know the name Sengoku BASARA. Someone may ask why I allways talk about an english release. Well me and I guess that goes for HNB as well belive in it. I would go as far as saying 80% of an english release. They release games like Monster Hunter 3 and more surpisingly Tatsunoko vs Capcom over here, they registrated the brand name Sengoku BASARA over here, the BASARA animes gets english dubbed by FUNimation and with all the success of CAPCOM franchises be it new-released, new-born, big names or small names (DMC4, RE5, SFIIHDR/SFIV, Megman 9, Bionic Commando, Marvel vs. CAPCOM 2, etc., etc.) I guess they try to give the "not so well loved, only japan" games Iīve allready mentioned a try. So why not BASARA? I belive the most important facts for an english BASARA release would be: A) BASARA 3 sells well in Japan. B) The FUNimation BASARA dub anime is at least acceptable successfull. C)The PS3 sells more units in english speaking countrys(since the Wii allready sold well) Since A is a given(cīmon, itīs gonna be a great game and had a lot of advertisement and thus is well known thanks to merchandise, mangaīs, the anime and will reach a lot of people because of the PS3/Wii release) and C is easily acquired, thanks to the new PS3 slim and the really great price cut deal and the holidays being till then. Iīve ranked it of priority, C being the last. My point to worry is B. Most of the people who really watch animes, have allready seen it. So...I donīt really think itīll be as much of a success than CAPCOM hopes it to be. I hope that will not weaken their resolve to revive DK under the reborn name "Sengoku BASARA"... Oh and I had some funny thought: Did you hear that for the american release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 4 new exclusive fighters will be added? Characters that are more known to non-japanese people? And that theyīll add online play for the american release? (for those who donīt believe it: http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/31/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-producer-answers-questions-about-online-play-sequel-possibilities/) So if CAPCOM really decides to get SB over here, do you think theyīd add some characters that are known over here just to get some more people hyped for the game? Or even online play I mean just imagine, if they added Dante/Vergil as bonus characters It would surely help to get a lot of fanatic DMC fans to get the game. Why Dante/Vergil? It would a fine CAPCOM joke: DMC2 as HNB mentioned was a flop, but DMC3 got it allright again. So now with the Sengoku BASARA re-try, the bonus characters that should fire up the hype, save the BASARA trademark over here and let everyone forget about the flop game Devil Kings, would be the same characters that starred the main roles in the game that should fire up the hype for DMC again, save the DMC franchise over here and let everyone forget about itīs past flop game Despite that they are pretty popular over here, even still today. Many regard DMC3 as their favourite action game for the PS2 and many were dissapointed that Vergil didnīt make an appearance in DMC4(screw Nero ) |

US exclusive characters?nah.....i mean,TvC is a crossover fighting game and is based on really old animes that has "americanized" version of them plus capcom characters, they could add speed racer, dante, etc because of the nature of the game and the fact that tatsunoko had their roots in the US grounds too while SB,crazy as its name is,is still heavily based on history, the most likely event a capcom guest character will appear in SB3 will be from its sister game, the onimusha and since SB and onimusha nearly had similar rosters the guest character picks are really slim, leaving only samanosuke, kotaro, ekei, jubei,or the DoD guys(which is heavily fictional and is not as famous as the original trilogy in the US) so yeah, just because one game has guest character doesnt mean every game should, there used to be a rumor masamune was to be added in DMC4 before, and everyone think that was pretty stupid,no matter how wonderful that is for SB fans..... |

More screenshots that describe Ieyasu & Mitsunari's skills have appeared on news sites. Such as this. http://www.4gamer.net/games/094/G009450/20090828015/ Now that we can have a decent number of capturable pics, I'll try to make a screenshot page on the KW site.

Thanks BK I noticed something interesting in some of the screenshot's. Screenshot 1 Towards Ieyasu's left,is that blood coming from that soldier? Also, towards his right, armor seems to be flying off another soldier... Screenshot 2 Please let that be Mitsunari pulling off an air-combo

#1: No, I think it's just the soldier's headband. #2: The Danzai skill can be continued to air combo. ![]() BTW, I think I'm seeing why they are saying Mitsunari is the fastest character. If Kenshin is more like freezing Iai, Mitsunari's moveset is more like instant-kill Iai. |

#1:I didn't mean that dude BK It's on the stair's and appear's be blood...either that or some weird pattern. Insta-kill...woah I can't wait to play as Mitsunari.Fast and deadly,eh? EDIT:Woah at the BASARA chip's.I knew BASARA had alot of merchandise but I didn't think it even had snack's I'd probably buy teh Masamaune/Kojuurou one just to see how 'Cow-tounge' taste's... Wow cool pics + moves. I realy love Ieyasuīs boxing style. I just love boxing characters.(doesnīt matter if they are quick or have powerful punches but it seems he has both, thatīs why my favourite character in Tekken is Steve Fox, next to Brian Fury and Paul Phoenix.) I have to see Mitsunari, his moves look different but I hope he doesnīt play out to be the same as Kenshin or at least feel the same. But he looks damn cool

Yet another semi OT thing, but I came upon this article at Famitsu.com http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1227081_1124.html Looks like there will be an event in Kochi (which was Chousokabe's hometown), and a SB talkshow is going to be held there, with Kobayashi and Ishino-san (Motochika's seiyuu) appearing as guests. Considering the event will be held in November when SB3 hype should start to intensify, I guess this indirectly gives a high probability that Aniki will be returning. And combined with the Mouri flag hint, Okra (Motonari's nickname in JP boards) should be most likely returning too.

So...a heavy point of attention on Motochika? A good opportunity to announce a certain character who allready has a character thread...a really good chance...

Capcom should just stick a huge CAPCOM sign on the cover and have Sengoku Basara in small writing in the corner, then this game will sell in the west. Even better chuck Leon Kennedy or Vergil on the front!!Seriously though if Capcom make the effort this game WILL succeed in the west I am sure of it. If there is one thing Capcom and other Japanese developers can take out of the whole DK fiasco, is show western gamers proper respect, don't release some piece of crap port and expect them to pick it up. DK was a joke: cast of characters nearly cut in half, no individual story mode, just some extremely bad conquest mode, and the names... oh the names!!! |

That's awesome. Ryuzou Ishino is a great seiyuu and one of the reason's I play as Motochika so much. So if Motochika is going to be present,I suppose that leaves hope for other 'Pre-Sekigahara' character's.If i'm correct, didn't Motochika die one year before the battle? But again, this is BASARA and I had no doubt in Motochika returning due to his popularity and rivalry with semi-comfirmed Motonari But November eh?That's pretty cool.TGS in September then this event 1 month and bit after

Yup, and not to also mention that they will be holding a SB3 talkshow as well in October, at a Sengoku festival. http://www.joraku.jp/ (Actually KOEI is going to come with their SW3 too, but looks like SB3 will get more promotions here) Having talkshows almost each month... looks like the peak of the hype when the game is almost released will be higher than we thought. o.o |

Well thatīs no surprise. With all the work, at least it seems as if they put a lot of effort into take this one into the next generation. I bet CAPCOM really tries now to "cut the ties with SW". I mean a lot of the poeple first thought of BASARA as a cheap SW rip-off... But SB2 showed that itīs more than that. And now with SB3 they try to surpass it in every aspect: The consoles(CAPCOM clearly pulled something big off with the PS3/Wii thing), graphics, sound, characters(more personality and more new added characters), gameplay, replay value and even the website and advertising...just in everything! They want to show, that itīs no longer the rip-off everybody talked about. They want to show that this is the superior Sengoku game. They want to show that this is a orignal CAPCOM trademark they can be proud of. And since itīs CAPCOM weīre talking about, theyīll be able to pull it off. Of course both games are a part of a great franchise. But in the end magazines, players and the sale numbers will tell, who has the bigger name now. And thatīs why CAPCOM goes all out. But again thatīs great, since we players are the one to profit from improved games Hope KOEI goes the same way again, someday

Wow, October is my favourite month Capcom is just making it better.SB has the gameplay, it trumpts KOEI in that section so easily.... also the characters have way better personalities. And SB is just so much more fun ![]() If Motochika is in its 100% confirmed Motonari will be in This is great! And in those Concepts of the characters, i couldn't help but think how lonely Motochika was..... Well at least after TGS the news will start pumpin', i hope for a confirmation of Sanada Nobuyuki

Itīs a bit older, but Iīve come upon something interesting: http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/695440/Capcom-Releasing-9-Wii-Games-Before-April-2010-Promises-Major-Franchises.html This further proves that the game will be released latest March 2009. But really interesting thing is the link thatīs there, that opens a pdf file with CAPCOMīs plan for the Financial year 2009/10. Iīve read trought it all now and Iīve come upon some quite interesting things, I didnīt notice before: First thing: CAPCOM aims for North America and Europe. They are top notch in japan, but the lack of real attention in other countrys is a problem for them. They have a strategy plan to solve that problem. One of them is concentrated attention of multiplattform releases. As weīve seen the lately all the games have been released for PS3/XBOX360/PC at the same time. But the most important points are: Brand strategy, create new franchises and enlarge the range of game genres. Also, theyīve mentioned that some games after being restructered are more successfull now in North America and Europe. All that could be said to contain DK alias Sengoku BASARA. It would be a new brand over here, would fill out the beatīem up, Hack Slash genre line-up of CAPCOM... Well further infos: They start selling nine Wii titles till April 2009 over here. Under them are games like Monster Hunter 3, Resident Evil: Dark Side Chronicles, Tatsunoko vs. CAPCOM...so there are still more games to come and also did you notice? Two of those games are japan only popular games...so itīs likely that one of the 9 Wii releases oversea could very well be BASARA. And now my main point: The main strategic points of oversea marketing. They said that they want to start more marketing from French(seems to be there starting point) to increase sale numbers. They want to hire more marketing personnel in Europe and U.S.A. Form alliances with hardware manufactureres to conduct joint promotions and other activities. So they finally realized they have to promote not so well known japan titles over here. Thatīs a very good point, since we all know what happend to games like Devil Kings and Monster Hunter.(DK was a flop and MH isnīt very popular) Not because they are crappy games, because they had the false strategy or close to none advertising and marketing. They also mentionend allready that they plan to ship over the SB anime to other countrys than japan. So they allready planned back then, to eng dub the anime. Also their charts show that they had an immense + in North America and Europe (mostly thanks to Street Fighter, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil) so now with their big brand names being a success they want to further set new brands in their and make them a success, since as I said, their big names are allready "on the battlefield". So looking at all this, with increasing marketing strategys in NA and EU, trying to re-release restructured game brands and set new brand names/gane genres out overseas, trying even to merchandise such "unknown" brands like the SB anime or Monster Hunter card games and the announcement of more Wii titles to come oversea... Those are all more than vital signs, that SB is coming over here again. It might just be a North Amercia(since sale numbers are allmost doulbe the europe sales) like the case with Tatsunoko vs. CAPCOM being a NA release for now....and I could read from this report that they plan to use more popular franchises to help not so known games out....as we can see in TAT vs. CAP were they cut one not so well known Tatsunoko character and add 4 more known characters to the roster....so they might do the same thing with BASARA(not cut a character, but add a promotion character, as I mentioned)...but that would be enough for us right? So I donīt want to create false hope, but if you analyze this report, look at the game news, at the video game market situation and at the trends that are now popular in NA/EU, there is a really high chance with undeniable signs that BASARA gets an english release. |

Yeah, I could certainly see this happening, since they already have the Alastor, Sparda and Ebony and Ivory in the game. I'm just hoping for a deeper combat system. Just one long S-string and three skills didn't allow for much in the way of style or depth. Hopefully the dash can be canceled, and there's more emphasis on aerial/stylish combat. |

Well, that was some good research DK,really good. But personally,i'm not bothered about an English release.I live in England and it's pretty unlikely that we'll see the game here.We hardly get any anime apart from crappy 4kid's dubs,so I doubt we'll get the SB anime, thus SB3 won't have as good as advertisement as America.Plus a title named 'Sengoku BASARA' would most likely get washed away by all the party games... This would force me to import it from America. And if i'm going to import the game,i'd get the Japanese version as I've grown attached to the seiyuu's and I fear a English dub would butcher the character personality's...I mean, how is Masamune going to do his awesome Engrish? Now i'm not saying i'm against a English release. If they add Japanese voice's I'd probably end up getting it...Let's just see what happen's. |

I didn't mind the voices in Devil Kings at all. I think people hate on the VA cast in that game more than they should, mostly because the script and overall theme of the game was butchered when they decided to remove any trace of Japanese history from the game. You can't really blame the VAs for Capcom USA's idiotic decision. If they're smart, and rebrand the series as Sengoku Basara (similar to how Boktai was rebranded to Lunar Knights), they could easily assemble a decent VA cast. Videos from me on this game are a go, by the way. With my unlocked Wii and frequent access to a PS3, I'll be able to play this one way or the other. |
