Wait, wait, wait...:"is it Yukimura...or my Mentor?"

The Red Tiger is Ieyasu´s mentor? Does he mean Shingen with that? Did he get some Oyakata-sama "Eye of the Tiger"-training? Is that the reason he packs such a punch?

In the BASARA-verse, Shingen was always a figure that Ieyasu respected. And then Kenshin himself was willing to do more to take a hiatus from the battlefield, not only because his rival was ill, but becaused he trusted Ieyasu, who he believed "inherited the Tiger's heart".

Quote:

And wow, if this is really the hard difficulty, Tadakatsu really needs to train again. Hitting Yukimura 5 times and it didn´t even really scratch the health bar....he even has "5 difficulty stars" over his head...Tadakatsu got soft...

HOLY CRAP AND HIS BASARA! :o
Yukimura still had more than half of his health bar after being hit over 10 times by Tadakatsu AND a full blow of his BASARA attack....and he has his lightning elemental weapon...wow...now that is dissapointing. I´ve lost my respect for him. That was weak.

I'm still thinking that things were toned down for the sake of the E3 demo. After all, you don't make much head-way with a prospective player if you see their ass kicked seven ways til Sunday. :hehe:

So, I wouldn't worry. Tadakatsu will probably be right back to the bad-ass he's supposed to be in the full release. And that's not to say he may not do the "hot shot restart" he does in that HEROES mission... :hehe:

"(...)more so than even the Dynasty Warriors games from which it copies its button mashing formula."

Because Dynasty Warriors invented button mashing.

Sigh, comparison with Dynasty Warriors is inevitable, but seriously, give them game some credit. I hate that just because Dynasty Warriors has dug its own grave in thewest that every game that features an S-string, must be brought down with it. At least the guy had a nice closing paragraph, he could have at least mentioned its strong suits during the preview, because for the most part it sounded like he was criticizing it.

Meh, at least the previewers seem to be enjoying the game, rather than simply trashing it to no end.

The sad part is that that guy has been one of the strongest proponents of Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes coming to the US out of all game sites I've seen. He regularly updates Destructoid with new Basara screens and gameplay videos and talks it up pretty well.

But yeah, he wrote a really poor preview for the fact that he was sincerely trying to talk up the game. That type of preview would do more harm than good I'd think, even though it wasn't his intention.

Anyway, I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and preordering my Asian version import today. That way, I could play it in August, then get the US version along with SW3 in the fall and play it again in English after going through SW3. This summer looks to be pretty slow in terms of games for me anyway.

Anyway, thanks for the video Koen. MoM receives no gratitude :hehe:

Thanks for the vid, Koen (also thanks to MoM ;) )

Heh. But you didn't like the new Jet X? :/

On the Hondam fight, the characters are probably pretty strong in the demo since the guy even had like 3-4 skills available. Or it could be like what HnB said and they nerfed him. ;)

E3 gameplay. Masamune Vs Yukimura and Sasuke. You can also see the 6 claws version of Jet X at the end of the video.

Maybe this'll get this topic active again. :ph43r:
the topic is active again, that's for sure, active of protest that is,a very boring gameplay vid if i have to say so,jet X all the time......

as for the "6 claws version"....its a bit misleading at first, since jet X IS a skill using all 6 claws, war dance version or "new jet X" might be better to say it......

btw i wonder if the skills now lose their "levels",meaning there's no more lv3 jet X(which is useless of duels anyway) since now masamune can "upgrade" his moves through war dance/his BASARA,and one more thing, now that magnum step has a second stab, masamune once again shows that he's the main template for kojuuro's moves

also,"yukimura sanada:willing and able"?,that's just so yaoi :uh: which is disturbing since he's facing masamune......they need to made up crazier titles for character intros like yukimura sanada:ultimate super soldier(to match his ten ha zessou) counterpart) or even yukimura sanada:flaming scorpio(to make a tribute from their last US SB attempt)

and one more thing, aside from using BASARA,it seems that the CPU can now do taunts, interesting, although i can't hear what US yukimura says when he does the OYA,KATA ,SAMAAAAA squat.........its gibberish at the vid...

Yeah the first video, didn't do date justice. The second video was entertaining. I would run from Tadakatsu until I level up really good then tackle him on. I was scared for the player when Tadakatsu did his Musou attack I thought he will get dealt damage but he didn't I was relieved LOL.Oh yeah the bodyguard Kojuuro and Sasakue was mainly standing around I was laughing. I like my allies fighting hard it is interesting to me. I do like the titles for characters.

i see, more bang for the buck with masamune then, having multiple powerups for some of his skills, lets just hope the PI's will make a return,SBBH was a chore as masamune, having to reactivate war dance over and over again(although he'll be utterly broken if there's a way to make it permanent in SBBH)

Actually, right before Jim from Dtoid started playing I had just finished a mission with Magoichi and handed him the controller to play. Anyways, his preview was pretty spot on in most areas. Hondam is really a badass in that one stage as he chases after you and he has a lot of life/attack power like Lu Bu.

I don't think that the game will get promoted much which will probably hurt its sales greatly. I mean there was only 2 stations (Wii and PS3) for it at the E3 Capcom booth.

That's pretty weird the enemies had elemental weapons, or even if it actually was hard difficulty because the in-store demos over here don't have an option for difficulty or any pre-battle screens. Just pick a character, stage, then go at it. Obviously its not the exact same demo cause of the characters but still. I'm thinking it's just like what most of you said already and it's just a special ver. of the game for demo purposes, and in the end isn't the final product.

DK- Long-ass rants really should go to the complaint thread. Lord knows how many have been posted in this topic already.

And where do you get '85' from in your sig? I don't know what you're counting but last I checked there's only 18 NPCS in 3..

^It's because there are 100 total characters, including all the body guards, so 100 - the 15 playables is 85,

should be 84 though, because there is the last PC

Yeah, was trying to get at counting the bodyguards/absolute generics in any form of the roster list is pointless/unneeded/senseless. That's like counting all the SW/DW bodyguards and named generics as part of the overall roster, which is

That's actually the guy I talked to last Thursday who barely gave me any answers. The bearded guy from Capcom UK in the back knew much more than him.

I think Capcom Europe is a bit more on top of this game than US right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they release it in Europe first like with SW3.

Well, actualy...

First, we all can establish I'm crazy, right? Well good.

So I was brave enough to count the Bodygaurds that were shown in the scan, and I counted 63, each time I counted them, which was three times. 63+5 warlords (Muteki was included in the 63 since he was in the center of the gaurds)+ 12 NPC = 80...

I'm not sure how much merit my counting skills hold though, so yeah...

Just putting that out there.

:realangry: Why do you people keep giving me reason to believe there will be more playable characters!

I just want to live in my neat little bubble where I know full well there is only one more PC, that way I can never be disappointed.

Oh man it would be so awesome if there actually were more PCs...OH NO ITS STARTING ALREADY!

I'M SORRY!

You and Hondam's posts just had me thinking, so I counted over and over and thats what I got.

I'm still firm with the one more PC thing, but it kinda adds up with Jsun's info about more characters. *shrugs* but they could have just been witholding a few warlords or bodygaurds. That or I missed 4 people each time.

It is a very interesting theory. And if they were planning on throwing 63 characters into that group shot and there was really 67, why wouldn't they just throw in the whole group. But still, only one more PC, only one more PC, only one more PC...

what you could do is take the picture of the magazeen scan, go back in and count them

but

this time take it into some sort of pic editing program. each time you count someone, mark their face with the paint brush, then type in wordpad document and put a "I" for each face

then go back and count each "I" per face you coverd.

this way you wont miss-count anyone.

you can then go in and make sure

Err...Being another veteran who faced horrors fighting mister Tadakatsu on hard mode, I was disappointed on how "weak" Tadakatsu turned out. But hey, good for the player.

I was also like "OH CRAP, HE'S DONE FOR." when Tadakatsu used his BASARA only to find the damage was very minimal.

Anyway, pros for the player for actually being fun to watch instead of that...date video...curses.

As for Tadakatsu again, glad that enemy heroes no longer spam BURST mode every 3 seconds or so.

It was nice to see some (mostly) unedited playthroughs of levels, even if the player was less than familiar with the playstyle of the Basara games (spamming one skill over and over and getting knocked on his ass...).

Regardless of how surprisingly weak Tadakatsu was in the other video, that was actually quite fun to watch. I also think Liam O'Brian is starting to grow on me, as at first I thought he was a poor choice for Ieyasu.
That segment of Naked Arms heard in the background (from another booth I guess), does that mean it may actually be in the english release? I sure hope so.

I'm still curious about this whole "characters walking" thing that we first saw in Yoshihiro's video (in which a player controlled character was doing it), and in the Masamune video you can see Kojuuro and Yukimura slowly shifting around.

Yeah, it has been confirmed here last week. Check out the bottom of the page.

That Yukimura video shows quite a combo, I've never been able to pull a 1000-hit one in any mission. Maybe it's because they've increased the time you can pause during the combo?

well,no one is interested to discuss it when i first brought that up many pages behind........... :hmmm:

anyways, its could be one of 3 things

1.yoshihiro got a new skill that we have no knowledge about(aside from it forces him to walk slowly)
2.the CPUs have a CPU only action, which is shifting around slowly(previous SB grunts have this ability too),this is not weird at all,CPU units in gundam musou 2 could practically hop/sidestep around in higher difficulties, something the playable MS cannot do
3.#1&2 is moot and we actually got a motion sensitive control for SB3,which is quite late but its cool to have..........

as for naked arms.....a special english version?!,well that's fresh, how come the SBSH OP trailer didnt have the song then? :ph43r:

I went and rewatched the video but didn't notice what you meant by "walking." Literally or..? If you're talking about the regular, low-speed running (prob not, but :hehe: ) then it just means the character hadn't activated the dash. You do that by pressing up on the analog twice.

I dunno. I feel like it's a good voice and could work somewhere (for a more mature character like...Shingen? ...Actually not him, but you get the idea) but for Ieyasu I still can't feel any sync. Especially because he's still just an old teen/young adult and his jp voice reflects that so well. Guess I shouldn't compare the two but it's hard when the japanese voices have become so glued to the characters...

I still think all the old DK VAs should've come back for their respective characters. Irdene's could work for Ieyasu if he just made it a little more mature sounding like Okawa. And Kirby Morrow pulled off a great Azure Dragon. Shout out to that Peter Cullen dude as Devil King, too. I think even Goose appreciated how epic that was.
