since i missed so much, im completely lost... i dont understand what most of you guys are talking about... i see that SB3 still has half the cast of characters as unplayable... geez, SW3 only has two NPCs, capcom is goin nuts with their NPCs... sure hope they make an expansion for this and have all the NPCs become PCs. |

Well, thatīs what weīre all hoping for. All the NPCs become PCs, alternate costumes return and maybe some kind of online mode would be neat. But whatīs there is fine, it looks, sounds and plays better than SW3 and itīs also there for more than just the Wii owners. I donīt care for graphics normally, but SW3 really reminds of FFIX (which had really good graphics on the PSone) but on the Wii, next to games like Monster Hunter Tri and Mario Galaxy 2? As well as the graphical improvements of Musou Orochi Z and Strikeforce? Nah, Iīll wait for the PS3/360 port of SW3 and gladly play the superior SB3. So it might not have as many characters and this is a point that really hurts the overall experience, but this can easily be fixed with an expansion and people who donīt mind being milked. Seeing that this is the KOEIwarriors board...I guess 98% here, donīt mind it

Well, we do have that thing about "featured characters in the anime will be showcased also in the game". I'd like to think that at least means that we'll be seeing the likes of Mitsunari and Kanbei in the show, for the sake of a nice glimpse of "what it was like" when those guys rolled with Hideyoshi and Hanbei. Any more than that would just be in the element of "nice surprise". Beyond that, Season 2 of the anime is as much its own continuity as any of the other manga and radio drams that were released years ago. Ieyasu, Honda and a number of others died in those too, and it didn't have impacts on other media.
I could see Fuuma, as it was clear the guy left after "LORD AWESOME PANCH!" But Itsuki? To me, there's only two viable answers for Itsuki. Either a) she (and Ranmaru?) both stand to be older and practically new characters that will be first seen in the anime (going along with an old suggestion of mine from several months ago...!) or b) Ranmaru and Itsuki hooking up at the end of S1 was basically a sign that they're "writing the characters out". Things being what they've been in the last few months, I wouldn't be surprised if the latter was closer to the truth. Itsuki and Ranmaru have been basically made into a pair; what good is one without the other to give reason for them being present? |

well, the game is not out yet, there's no way they will suddenly change it before the game is released........ but if this is one or a half year later and we're talking about SB3 HEROES and they still have boatloads of NPC's,only then your post will make sense, SW3's aya&masanori are generic dudes with unique skins,SB3 NPC's are mostly playable characters that haven't got finished yet,big difference,if you try to force play them through codes(if possible) then SB3 NPC's will be much more fun to play as,i guarantee it yup,for me only the game versions are the "canon" ones, never liked the mangas,or animes that based on games..........they tend to go too far in messing up stuffs, hence for people who like SB a lot:don't take the anime too seriously, the game is not based on that, and vice versa.... i didn't recall those 2 consoles will get SW3....so far only the NDS will get one IIRC...probably the game will go bad/get old/outdated before it sees a PS3/360 release(if there will be one),SW3XL perhaps,or a bundle, but not SW3 alone............ You're turning a blind eye. Before BASARA's NPCs all shared S-Strings with numerous characters and maybe had 1 or 2 unique moves. It wasn't that much better than Musou. With BASARA 3 some of this is true, but there's also a smegload of old faves they didn't even bother making playable, in addition to the new unfinished characters. I'm not sure which is worse here. Taking away what once was vs something you never had to begin with.

^ I think Master might have meant that the characters that were once playable are no longer simply because they've yet to be revamped/updated...or whatever... At least, that's what I got out of it :# |

Yeah, I could say the same. I pretty much expecting the amount of info to be disappointing, so whenever I see that I was right, I just go play the Crackdown 2 demo with 3 of my buddies. (If you haven't downloaded that demo, you are missing out, BIG TIME.) And, that game comes out on the 6th in US, so I'll keep playing that until SB3. And then I'll probably be playing both of them for a while. So, go ahead Koba, you can't hurt me anymore! (That was a joke, I don't really talk/type like that. Lol...again.) For plenty of moths, I have been saying that there should be a redone Musashi, if he's in. But I would still prefer Matsunaga. Edited by Flashbang Incentive, Sat Jun 26, 2010 2:36 pm.

Man I really want to play Basara 3, but now, if X gets confirmed into MvC3, I think MvC3 will be the game I'm looking forward to the most, and Basara 3 will just help me get through the year until MvC3 comes out. Depressing, as Basara 3 was so hyped for me. |

xXBasaraIsBestXx, SB3 probably WILL blow my mind away. But to use X, maybe Batsu/Yukimura and Dante in a fighting game. That would blow my mind way more, and the fact I play every fighting game pretty much. |

Yeah, boyeee~! Can't wait to see Hanbei and Hideyoshi doing it big in their animated debut. I just hope that they don't go out like punks, as was the case in one of dem radio dramas... Hanbei: *owning up on Kojuuro until* OH NO, MY TB!!! AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIME! Kojuuro: Now's my chance~! *STAB* Hanbei: Oh no, I have died! My bad, Hideyoshi! Yeah...nothing like an anemia-like condition to serve as just the nice thing to make for a makeshift epiphany moment for a hero character! ..... |

Wow...Iīm shocked that Kojuuro is that low and stabs a man in a duell who has a terrible disease, which disables him to fight in that moment and thus makes him defenseless. I know, itīs live or die, but that is just...itīs like beating up an old guy, who kicked your ass, untill he suddenly gets a heart attack and you take a stool and smack it over his back, while heīs coughing for air. Iīm with you there, HnB. Glad it was just a Drama CD. Hope I wonīt have to see something like that in the anime

Hanbei, for the most part, is a cool, calm, collected and yes, VERY SMUG SOB most of the time. Very fitting, considering Hanbei was often considered the "Zhuge Liang" of the Sengoku era. He would more than likely oblige a person with a duel if a) it went according to his plans or b) he was left with little other choice. But as nihilistic as the guy may seem to be, there is a possible darker side to his nature that lies beneath the surface. Some other characters, like Mitsuhide, seem to directly hint at that through choice quotes: *lifting from our own Yoshitaka's excellent FAQ* Mitsuhide: ...I can see the REAL you, craving rawness! And then Hanbei gives an example of just how "straight up hood" he really can be in his own SB2 storyline. He and Hideyoshi hit up Masamune's side of the block in his storyline, thinking they could be of use to the Toyotomi army. Masamune, of course, refuses the offer, but also goes on to taunt Hanbei about how Hideyoshi is supposedly "afraid of him". To which, Hanbei would reply... Hanbei: ....What did you say....?! Hanbei then proceeds to open a can of whup-ass on Masamune and his homey, Kojuuro. Clearly showcasing that Hanbei lives up to one of his "in game title" of "Pale Blue Fury".

To further add to Ben's (already exhaustive) post, Hanbei seems to possess a personal ambition that could rival Hideyoshi's, but (possibly) after realizing that his poor physical condition wouldn't let him reach it alone, he passed it onto Hideyoshi and decided to tag along with him. Of course, his respect for big ol' Gorilla surely plays a part in this...but as some other quotes attest, he has a certain "envy" inside: Oichi: - Something is eating away at you... Ichi can feel it... Ieyasu - Your personal dream, that you entrusted Hideyoshi with.. The one lost in it is you, Hanbei.. (from Hanbei's SB2's story, final chapter) Hanbei: Tokugawa Ieyasu..the jealousy towards the one who carries the future in hand.. Might this be the darkness I hold..? He firmly believes in Hideyoshi's ideal, but that doesn't stop his own ambition from eating at him from inside...Mitsuhide, as expected, saw right through him. |

Couldn't agree more, Yoshitaka. ![]() And of course, our boy, Hisahide knew what was up to: - The pain in your heart is quite natural, so be at ease. He does not perceive your dream as a burden, sir..or so I think. Hell, even Yoshimoto and Shimazu seemed to know what was up: "Yoshimoto Versus Hanbei - Being at the side of the stage is hectic indeed.. You are controlling the monkey from behind it, hoho.." "----- Shimazu being told "Do your best" and answering Hanbei: Sir demon Shimazu, I pray for your luck in battle. Yoshihiro: Youse're quite the fine monkey trainer, feller.." I don't doubt that the friendship the two have is a real thing in the least. But at the same time, I think it's plain to see that Hanbei, much like his historical counter-part, probably could have afforded to aim higher than just being a tactician, if things were different. Again, can't stress how much I'll miss Hanbei and Hideyoshi in SB3, in more ways than one. They still owe us an explanation of what exactly happened "that day", dammit! >:( |

^Nope, nothing new so far. Been playing the demo a lot lately, and it's been blowing my mind more and more at how fun this game is. Mitsunari is def the best out of the 4 playables, and his low health/defense really isn't even a problem with how fast his attacks come out. The enemies don't even get a chance to breath and his skills in the demo all combo nicely. I for sure see him being one of the most overused characters in the game. Only thing I've come to dislike and have a bit of a problem with- the layout of the skills. Triangle and R1+Tri work out just fine, but the Analog+Tri setting for the 3rd skill slot is pretty annoying. I find myself getting mixed up all the time trying to execute just the regular Tri slot and instead get the Ana+Tri one. It leads to a lot of unintentional moves and can break up a nice combo you have going like with Ieyasu (or with the skills he has in the demo, anyway). I hope there's an option to change the layout in the final product.. |

I know this won't affect many of us since a lot here are planning on getting the game in 4 weeks, but the US release date might get delayed since Capcom decided to push back Dead Rising 2 from August 31 to September 28. I am not sure if they would release 2 games on the same day. |
