I was just about to say that. What does Sengoku BASARA actually mean? I know that Sengoku means Samurai, but what does BASARA mean? Does anybody else get the idea that Koba got Nobunaga's demon from DMC4? It looks just like Nero's Yamato, but in red. Woah, new smileys!:

BASARA means this : Basara, a term in Japanese aesthetics associated with the challenge of traditional ideals during the Muromachi period. Not sure what it means either. |

... Sengoku means "warring states", not samurai. It's more or less "civil war". Anyway, I've more or less stopped paying attention to those videos about SB:SH. I'm fine with all of the localizations (except 'zenny' (?) ) and voices so far (except Kenshin and Ujimasa), but I absolutely cannot stand this PR guy. He's constantly saying stupid things and can't even pronounce half of the names (including the game's title...!) Gah, talk about an annoying rep. He could at least get his facts straight before running at the mouth. |

Just watched UL's video. Not sure why everyone's badmouthing the chick, she wasn't annoying nor was she completely horrid like some videos we've seen. I mean, she was horrible at the beginning, but there's a noticeable improvement by the end, so it was probably her first time playing. Least she didn't spam the same move over and over the entire time. Anyway, more importantly: this video gave us a glimpse of the main menu. Emaki, free mode, gallery, options, and one I couldn't make out. So I think I'll probably stop hoping for Daibutokai or Tenkatouitsu, because there's really no reason for them to hide those from us. It's not like they're brand new or anything. |

Well, we allready had the guess that this will be the only mode weīll get to play. Hope though, theyīll add some more modes in the HEROES expansion (though more importantly they should concentrate on getting all the characters back or at least the NPCs playable and some other additions, like a playable Kanetsugu and Hisahide/Musashi) Afterall their initial plan was 30+ characters. They ditched that and said theyīd go for new gameplay features, story and fleshed out characters. They have the graphics, have the gameplay features, have the story and have a lot of fleshed out characters. They have programmed allmost all of their moveset into the game thanks to the bodyguard system (makes me wonder if action replay codes will work...the Wii version might be superior afterall) so in a HEROES expansion they should be able to fully concentrate on getting characters back. BTW...I thought Nobunaga still has his sword? I mean a double shotgun is beyond pure epicness, but I loved his sword/shotgun combo... EDIT: Nope, he still has his sword in his normal form...maybe once he gets his demons out, they take his sword and Nobunaga attacks meanwhile with two shotguns? Or those picks just make it look like he has two shotguns...weīll know more by Thursday

If CAPCOM gave them their first weapon, skills, starting pose and victory pose the codes would most likely work. |

The video UL posted got me wondering - just me or the combo timer looks like it takes a LOT longer to reset now? There was this point the player was running around with the combo count intact, and I could swear Mistunari wasn't on Boost mode or whatever... |

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Or, maybe he was. Too lazy to check right now. Sorry about the Sengoku = Samurai thing. I always thought that because people are always like "the samurai era", and other people say "the sengoku era". So, I ended up thinking that they had the same meaning. Still really don't get what BASARA means, lol. What's the Muromachi period? EDIT: Btw, guys. The BASARA drive thing can go on forever, as long as you keep killing enemies. I noticed this in Kanbei's English vid. He activates it, and every time he kills a few a guys, it says "+ 2 sec" and the meter stops going down, and goes back up a little. I was unaware Basara even had a meaning, to be perfectly honest. I'd never been able to find one myself. Muromachi is basically just the time period that the Ashikaga shogunate was in power, I believe. 1300-something to late 1500s. Intersects with most of Sengoku. And @MH: I'd personally rather see more [good] gameplay modes than a rush of characters. When that happened in SB2H, most of them were half-assed with 2 skills. Give me 5 unique characters and a few good gameplay modes (online co-op, unification, daibutokai and I'd be more than happy) over just a huge dump of characters anyday. Even with more characters, you'll eventually get bored of the same stages and such over and over again. At least that's how I found SW2 and SW3. Good gameplay and lots of characters, but what's the point if 90% of the stages and game modes are absolute crap? But I digress, let's not go there. Edit: Yeah, seen that video before. Forgot about the 999 combo part. Just makes him even less credible than before, if that was even possible. Wonder if he's ever actually even played the game. No, no, no DJ, something is different this time, donīt forget it. I mean, afterall, most them were allready playable. In SB2:HEROES, they didnīt really plan to release it. They just thought, seeing the sale numbers it might be worth a try. This time they clearly have one in mind from the start. 8 characters out of the NPCs allready have a functioning moveset (including Ujimasa who just needs some skills) and from the looks of it most of the new characters too. So having the NPC turned playable doesnīt need much work. Adding in some cut characters to the fray shouldnīt require it too. Besides, half assed modes...unification mode was a fun distraction to max out characters and the 100 stages tournament mode was a neat homage to the Onimusha ones.(best one was in Dawn of Dreams...played it with all four characters) Iīd rather have all the characters back in the expansion, some Gaiden stories for the most important ones (Tenkai for example, seeing as Nobunaga is alive) and get to play the rest in free mode or a newer version of the unification mode. Seeing as we allready had a serious story mode, the HEROES expansion should be a "fan service" expansion, with getting characters back, adding some fun stories and getting alternate costumes back. And as someone once said, I donīt think the 2 skill characters were half-assed. Ujimasa, Yoshimoto and Musashi were damn much fun, as well as Kennyo (for me) to some extent. Only one that sucked was Ieyasu, but thatīs because he was a kid back then BTW, just because there are different modes, doesnīt mean there are different stages. In Unification mode and online co-op youīd just play the same stage with the same characters again. So having new characters, means having more stages, means having more variety in levels and playstyles with each playable character.

I think that there should be Daibudokai, Unification, story, and free mode. That's it. I don't want those stupid time trial things that they think works in these kinds of games. For this one, those are all the modes I want. And, because there isn't a lot of characters, they should have the modes. For SB3:H, I think they should just have those modes again, and then, add in some (if not all) of the cut ones. And, Hisahide. And Musashi. And, the NPC's of this game. With some Gaiden stories. I'd be perfectly satisfied. |

I don't know about forever, but it can definitely go for awhile. As long as you keep killing it'll fill up. I had it going for almost a minute I think when I was playing the demo the other day. And cotdamn. That girl is cute as hell in the video.

Awesome screenshots, dayum Nobunaga looks badass. Kudos to Maggie, taking him on alone with guns blazing. I love her even more now. Btw, this may be seen as spam, but the Kojuro!clone from the anime has been identified as Oyamada Nobushige, the Takeda general who betrayed them to the Oda. Think he'll appear in the game as a UNPC? Or is he already in it? |

I'll ignore the part that more or less said it's easy to add the cut characters Some of the 2 skillers were fun, but I honestly think they got old fast. Honestly, I'm not against the idea of having the npcs as free mode only characters with their current moveset, but I'd much rather see a few really well made characters like what we have than tons of half-characters. Unification was just a string of stages together, yes. Not denying that. It was a decent way to get experience and gold before you were strong enough to do daibutokai, and a lot better than free mode in that aspect. But I seriously disagree on the getting more stages from PCs part. If anything we get more stages from NPCs. They're easier to create than PCs and they each (daimyo at least) get their own stage. That's essentially the argument for having NPCs. If we decided it'd be more worth the time to scrap all of the NPCs and add 5 PCs max, we'd be getting 10+ fewer stages. Plus fewer unique characters to fight. Essentially, NPCs are a great way to boost unique enemy count and add to the stages. For these reasons I don't understand why so many people hate NPCs. Most games have boss characters that you can't play as. Not every character should be playable. It just makes more sense from a design perspective to have them. Might have gone a little off course there, but I hope I got my point across |

I donīt think people hate NPCs generally DJ, seeing as most of games' characters ARE NPCs. But making NPCs playable to turn them into NPCs again or turn allways playable characters suddenly into NPCs is what people donīt like. I mean seriously, some got recently playable and are unplayable again now. As Iīve said, Matsu, Kojuuro, etc. didnīt need much change. Just patch on the combo system and think of three super skills and you have an awesome SB3 character. Problem was probably the Story mode. Itīs so big this time with different endings, paths, dialogues that every character needs to get a lot of time investment added to those small moveset changes. Thatīs why I think they wonīt bring out half assed characters, if they can concentrate on adding characters, now that they have their story mode out. @DJ Spoiler: click to toggle

In case anyone's wondering about the game leak, there will be definitely occurrences of this game being released early before release date. Remember that games are almost always released a couple of days earlier in Hong Kong and Taiwan. And some Japanese might also be able to 'flying get' (what they use to mention early leak) the game. And the soonest the game may be leaked could be as soon as tomorrow. It's still a probability though, but we will certainly see leaked in-game info before release date. Oh, and apparently Masamune's 6-swords mode is said to have super armor this time, as in he won't be easily flinched by weak attacks. and some OT below Spoiler: click to toggle

@BK: Spoiler: click to toggle @xionvolt Well, it depends on: Have you played Sengoku BASARA 2, as well as SB2:Heroes? What exactly do you mean, gameplay, features, characters or everything? If you mean by advantage, for example, amount of playable characters, graphics, play time, etc... Try the SB3 Info Thread there is allmost everything we know about the game in it. If you have any other questions, you are more than welcome to ask them, weīll try to answer them as accuarte and fast as possible.
