Sorry guys, was mistaken them...I just heard Smirnov...and thought it was Sergei, the older one...

Andrei is a pretty young and energetic character, so now itīs clear heīll be something like that.

Sorry for the confusion guys, no Zabuza or Kizaru.
(Though he would be cool too)

Just the Loyd sample and Andrei Smirnov.

As for the new news...I...I...donīt know what to say.

You know...Nagamasa was my damn favorite in SB2H. I got to play him for ONE TIME. And thatīs it?

Spoiler: click to toggle

Donīt worry, guys, Iīm not going to flip out, even though Iīm a bit dissapointed at the moment and I guess Iīm not alone, right HNB coughHideyoshicough?
(damn again...Mitsuhide, Iīll miss the sickness...Hideyoshi Iīll miss the face meets floor rub skill...Nagamasa Iīll miss justice)

So no 40+ character roster, heh? If Matsunagaīs there Iīm fine. It hurts...but as long as there are REALLY TONS OF NEW CHARACTERS and not just 6 and some NPCs...Iīm okay.

But, again, if Hisahide is cut before he got even playable... :realangry:

Kenshinīs not confirmed to be dead, unlike Shingen (Cīmon itīs obvious), Kenshinīs fate is written in the stars for now...and I canīt read the stars...I really hope heīs not dead...ahem...why do we use spoiler tags?

What I donīt understand is, why they didnīt give us those characters for free mode. I mean itīs not too hard.
I bet they just thought: Man, we still have to give Ujimasa and Yoshimoto a full moveset...also Kennyo and we have to rework some other characters movesets, skills...letīs just cutīem <_<

Really, cīmon, at least for free mode. And conquer mode. Screw Story mode, as long as I can rip some 100 people with my two scythes during a sick laugh :(

Well, letīs not be pessimistic, maybe itīs like that, that they are still playable in Free Mode, Conquer mode, etc...
Thatīs still a possibility, right?

Wait, Tetsu-san does Kizaru's voice?
That is so epic. I wasn't really sure who he voiced, but now I know he does Kiz.KIZ :XD

And now onto the not so great news.
Well, I'm with Makishima!. I'm not sure wether to be pissed about the removal of the "earlier" characters or excited about the tons of new characters...
Hmm. This might not be so bad. I mean, Kobayashi has stated we'll get tons of new generals and if he sticks to his word, future BASARA games will have all these new generals plus the cut ones! That'll give us round about 50 characters... 50 characters, each unique from one another... thats not too bad, is it?

Not to say I'm not pissed about Kobayashi's choice though. I was attached to some of the "earlier" characters, such as Mitsuhide and Nagamasa... I'm wondering what Kobayashi was thinking. I mean, the game is practically funded by fangirls and Mitsuhide is one of the more popular characters. Not to mention if Hideyoshi is cut, Hanbei may get the axe. Well, aslong as Capcom make the new playable generals interesting and memorable, I'll be satisfied.

I kinda feel sorry for HnB though, if Hideyoshi gets kicked...

EDIT: Wait, so he doesn't do Kiz's voice?
Ah well, I bet he'll still sound awesome.

Again, I hope he gets a heart and skips that stupid "hyping for the next BASARA by cutting characters that MIGHT appear in the next game" and gives us those characters as at least Free mode/Conquer mode characters.

Heck, even DLC -_- ................ <_< no, letīs drop that idea :hmmm:

I hope he explains that in a Famitsu interview or something like that...cause I want to know the reason...and I hope thatīs a damn good one

I'm guessing we'll have to wait until SB3:H or maybe even SB4 until we see our beloved favourites again DK.

I know it sucks, but I suppose Capcom are hoping the 2nd season of the anime will make up for some characters, such as Hideyoshi... if hes cut.

Whats worse, is now the SW3 fans will probably bash it. Not that they can really speak though, looking at the DW6 disaster

Again, I am annoyed, but I'm also excited for the new characters. It boosts the chances of certain generals we thought might never make it into the franchise. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure both Yoshitsugu and Kanetsugu are in and that makes me happy... but it was a pretty hefty price to pay, eh? And I'm sure BK will be excited now that Nana's chances have also boosted.

Well, ya don't have to worry about me bashing SB3, even if I'm a SW fan. Then again, I actually kinda of like DW6, so I am probably a freak of nature. XD

I do hope this comes oversea to USA and....not as Devil Kings 3, because then I can actually give playing it a shot. :D

Course, since I never play the first two, my reaction to the new was 'Okay!' and just being exited for who could be the new characters.

I do hope Hanzo is one of them, maybe he could actually be 'history accurate' and be a ninja-samurai. :D (or..technically just a samurai.)

Haha, Lady Dragoon. The thing about SW fans bashing SB3 was more or less a joke :XD
But I suppose SW fans who want to bash it can't. I mean, the game maybe cutting characters, but its also adding some.

Anyway, I've just realised, with the cutting of Nobunaga and friends, we won't only be loosing awesome seiyuus, but stages aswell. I, personally, wasn't expecting the great amount of stages SB2:H had, as it would be alot of effort on Capcoms half to bring the 60+ stages to "next gen", but some of my favourite stages sported many of the "earlier" characters as bosses and without the characters themselves returning, the stages stand no chance...
Anyway, with new characters comes new stages and new awesome seiyuus, thats how I'm gunna look at it.

Well MP, Iīm not really dissapointed(even though it might not look like it :D ), since I saw something like that coming(and Kenshinīs one of my favourites and heīs not confirmed dead for now so...Iīm still hoping for at least him, I mean with Ujimasa, him and maybe even Itsuki cut...whoīs there to use the ice element? No one?)

I hope even if Kenshinīs cut...damn...thinking about it hurts...theyīll still add Kanetsugu(AND NOT MAKE HIM A JOKE CHARACTER BTW, if they cut characters at least make the new ones awesome)...I really hope that.

The only character THAT HAS TO "RETURN" is Matsunaga Hisahide.

If heīs not in, even though he might "return" in SB3H or SB4 and is just "taking a break" like some other cut characters...Iīd turn my back on SB. Forever. Really.

That would be like a slap to the face. Two games teased me with him and now he might not be in? Even though I donīt really believe it, thereīs a really really small chance heīs not in... :hmmm: ...donīt do it CAPCOM. I think Iīm not the only one who would be pissed about that

Well, I guess thatīs all that comes to my mind. Strange, I thought itīd hurt more to see some characters not returning...but funny thing is I only care about Hisahide at the moment. (and that there are at least 30 characters + everyone of the new characters has to be as cool and special as Mitsuhide, Hideyoshi or Nagamasa  )

Good way to hype us for the game three days before the TGS <_<

EDIT:

BTW BK, whatīs the reaction on other BASARA boards (the japanese ones) did those news create some riot or did they take it in a positive/optimistic way?

Hmm, rather than discussing who will most likely get a 'rest', how about instead discussing about who might actually return?

First, let's see the actual SB2 characters who were still alive at Sekigahara
Tokugawa Ieyasu
Hondam Tadakatsu
Date Masamune
Katakura Kojuuro
Sanada Yukimura
Sarutobi Sasuke
Maeda Keiji
Matsu
Shimazu Yoshihiro
Miyamoto Musashi
Fuuma Kotaro - He continues to live on as a rogue IIRC
...that's 11 people.

From there, I think the most probable characters who have about 90% chance of returning are:
Kasuga - She's already becoming a staple part of the Uesugi
Maeda Toshiie - He died just 1 year before Sekigahara, so it's very likely that he'll be given a tolerance. Then again the rest of the family also lives
Chousokabe Motochika - Same thing, he died just a year before. Plus he's got a big fanbase

80% chance
Mouri Motonari - Some people would think it's absurd for Motonari to return, but he already managed to collect many fangirls.

60% chance - Still alive by the end of anime 1st season but unsure whether can for SB3's setting
Toyotomi Hideyoshi
Takenaka Hanbei
Takeda Shingen
Uesugi Kenshin
Itsuki?

30% chance - Already died in anime 1st season (excluding Yoshihiro of course)
Honganji Kennyo
Hojo Ujimasa
Matsunaga Hisahide (sorry DK)
Oichi
Zabii?

0.1% chance - Confirmed dead in the SB3 setting
Imagawa Yoshimoto
Azai Nagamasa
Oda Nobunaga
Nouhime
Mori Ranmaru
Akechi Mitsuhide

So with this consideration, even with the high odds, at least 14-15 people, or almost half of the roster, should still return in SB3.
Also notice that excluding Yoshihiro (& young Ieyasu & Hondam?), the characters who have high probability of returning are also still alive by the end of anime 1st season.

Devilsking

BTW BK, whatīs the reaction on other BASARA boards (the japanese ones) did those news create some riot or did they take it in a positive/optimistic way?
Well to be frank, even since the first Famitsu scan where the interview might hint on some character cuts, the JP boards have been filled with grim air.
---
But anyway, if my theory is correct, at least half of the previous roster should still exist. And that's still many more than SF3 & GS4, where only 2 previous characters return.

Speaking of the 'new generation' reaction though, I've been wondering.... Was anyone here part of a fighting game community since before SF3 was out? I wonder what the fan reactions were when it's revealed that only Ryu and Ken returned in SF3.

*nod* Yeah, and it not like there going be too many clones either, methinks.

(And hey! The Seiyuus could come back voicing different people too.)

*shrug* We will see what info we get from TGS. (I find it ironic that I am exited for info, and yet I may never play this game. Oy vey. :P )

Motochika is in, i can feel it, and if he is in, so is Motonari.....

But with all thes cuts, i want 20+ new character -_-
I know thats selfish, but come'on, they take away lots of my favourites, and put the asses of some of my other faves on the line.... me no like....

And seriously, if either Toshi or Matsu aren't in the game.... i might take a personal day :(

Yes I was there, thatīs why I have this mixed feeling...

You know at first I was pretty upset having to leave my favourites like Cammy and Vega(even more since I didnīt really care for Ryu/Ken)...but I came to love new characters like Ibuki(why isnīt she in SF4 <_< ) and Alex...but those couldīve been added to the allready existing roster, so I really asked myself, whatīs the point. Tekken does it, Soul Calibur does it...

But well, again, at first I was reeeeeally upset, like a lot of us Street Fighters lovers. Since with every new game you are looking forward to all the old faces and trying out new faces, letting the roster grow bit by bit, like again in Tekken and Soul Calibur.
The bad thing with this is that some characters might start to feel "old"(well a fighter is a bad example, since I tend to use Siegfried/Cervantes/Kilik in SC, Brian/Steve/Paul in Tekken again and again, since Iīm pretty good with them) but you get what I mean.

So from this point of view, it "could...really could" be counted as a good decision. Though in SFīs case, look how long it took them to make the REAL sequel to SF3 and now in SFIV again more than the half of SFīs roster is missing... <_<

So if they make a SB3H around a half year later/one year later with all the missing characters returning, it might turn out pretty good, since some old characters might feel fresh and new again.
Even though Nagamasa wouldnīt feel old in my eyes after having him in only one real BASARA game <_< ...

Sorry I just canīt find a good point in cutting characters, itīs useless and I donīt understand why someone would do it...itīs not like thereīs an uncountable number of characters in the SB roster so they had to cut, or why they would cut recently added characters and not even leave them as Free mode characters  (most of them allready have a solid if not allmost perfect moveset....tsss)
Itīs just a way to upset fans, theyīve done it with SF(BTW SF3 wasnīt "that" popular thanks to that)...

I guess they have really good reason for this, since if not, some crazy japanese fans, will hopefully do some crazy things on the TGS...so I hope they have one, so letīs wait and see......

Oh well, being used to useless things like cutting characters (SFIV, DW6, Mortal Kombat vs. DC, etc.), the only thing that would really upset me would be:

1) A la Street Fighter, even though being the next title, having a roster with less characters then the entry before, in BASARAīs case means roster with less than 25 characters...though if you count all half characters together...27 characters. So a roster with 30+ would be perfect, since it would fill the empty spots and "still add more characters to the roster"

2) NPCs. If I see one NPC, after cutting so many important characters a lot of us came to love and allready teasing us with "taking breaks and next SB games"...

3) No Matsunaga Hisahide. Really. Thatīs just. 2 games and anime appearance with over 2 episodes and heīs still not playable?

Those are the points that would really upset me. The first one, well, as long as we see around 25-30, itīs still "okay" and afterall they allready said theyīll add a lot of characters so a 30 character roster seems likely. But 2 and 3...No go. Really. No go.

As for talking who might be in...Iīve allready posted a list:

Probably gone list:

1. Oda Nobunaga (100%)
2. Noh (100%)
3. Ranmaru (100%)
4. Akechi Mitsuhide (100%)
5. Azai Nagamasa (100%)
6. Imagawa Yoshimoto (100%)
7. Toyotomi Hideyoshi (90%, since Ieyasuīs rebellion allready happenend and thus Mitsunari seeks revenge...even though that hurts)
8. Takenaka Hanbei (90%, but if Hideyoshiīs gone and his illness...more like 100%)
9. Hojo Ujimasa (90% sure, heīs not in)
10. Takeda Shingen (90%, Yukimura leading the Takeda army, being all depressed...I donīt think heīs just injured...)

So the character who are there (most likely and known ones):

11. Sanada Yukimura (100%)
12. Sarutobi Sasuke (100%)
13. Date Masamune (100%)
14. Katakura Kojuuro (100%)
15. Tokugawa Ieyasu (100%)
16. Honda Tadakatsu (100%)
17. Mouri Motonari (100%, favourite character, his crest everywhere)
18. Chosokabe Motochika (100%, cīmon thereīs an event about him)
19. Miyamoto Musashi (100%, now is his time to shine)
20. Shimazu Yoshihiro (100%, same here)
21. Kasuga(100%, funny thing why Iīm sure, sheīs fiction and thatīs why she probably wonīt get cut since she has no real death date)
22. Maeda Toshiie (100%, itīs his time to shine with a serious story)
23. Maeda Keiji (80%...heīs/was Hideyoshiīs old pal and was a coverboy back in SB2 + a fan favourite + alive in the anime)
24. Matsu(I hope all three are back, so 80%)
25. Fuuma Kotaro (90%, no reason not to have him in, especially since he could rival Hattori Hanzo if heīs in)

Not sure:

26. Zabi (really no use in the Sekigahara era)
27. Itsuki (same here, now with Date/Mogami ruling the north...)
28. Kennyo (maybe he has some relation with Saika...if Magoichiīs in)
29. Oichi(maybe Shibata Katsuie is added...nah not very likely)
30. Kenshin (nothing that proves him to be dead or alive...though since Shingen is probably...or pretty much gone...thereīs some chance he might get cut too)
31. Matsunaga Hisahide(well...no part in Sekigahara...no Oda Nobunaga who might have been a good story point...wasnīt even playable in other games so no "real fanbase"...but you just canīt do this to me CAPCOM and if I remember right, to Hakumei too)

So if Hideyoshiīs there in some way, means Takenaka is alive, if Shingen and Kenshin are still around(talking about the anime, since they didnīt appear or are still alive) plus one other character I didnīt count in, there might be 20, or at least 15 returning characters.

Which means there have to be at least 10-15(!) new characters to fill up the gap...why not just leave them in the roster, I donīt understand it

You realize that DKs back when a post is allmost half a page long full of rants :P

Why does everyone keep saying characters will be cut?Stop saying that again just like what I posted in SW3 the more you post it the more Capcom will think about it.Anyways if Hideyoshi or Shingen were cut I will be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MAD!But if Capcom added Nobufusa Baba or Dosetsu Tachibana I'll be okay with it.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the leak tomorrow (if there is one) will provide us with which characters will be returning. Although, it is highly doubtful and judging from the character lists posted, we can more or less see for ourselves. I'm also thinking Kobayashi chose the better option announcing that "characters will be axed" in a magazine rather than the TGS. The fangirls would be after his blood.

I'm wondering if some of the new characters will play similar to the "axed" ones or if they'll sport their own original play styles. Mitsunari is said to play similar to Kenshin and Hanbei... So you never know. HnB may still be able to pile-drive his enemies ala Hideyoshi, just with a different character.

Well, the TGS is practically 2 days away, so hopefully, SB3 will impress us so much that character cuts won't even bother us... Highly doubtful though :XD

No matter what though, I'm getting this game.

Please, please Capcom, don't make us wait another 3-4 years or whenever SB4 comes out to play as Hisahide... I hope he's a secret character even if he doesn't have a story mode or anything.

@Kenshin, I'm leaning towards him being alive, Kasuga is unlikely to get cut, and Naoe Kanetsugu is a very possible add, so they are both going to need a lord to serve... And I don't think Capcom will add Uesugi Kagekatsu, meaning Kenshin must be alive!

I know we can start expecting some info in only a day or two but it can't come quick enough, the fans need something to lighten the mood. I'm sure once we see a handful of new characters a lot of the bad thoughts we have will disappear. Kobayashi no doubt has some great surprizes in store for us in terms of character inclusions. I remember the first time I saw SB Hideyoshi "OMG that's the most badass thing I've ever seen!!" I want moments like that to return.
