I´m over it allready...since as you said, there´ll probably be the Hyper Super Turbo Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes Gaiden Story Special Tournament Edition. Though you know, the Hisahide thing is not over yet...my only fear for now... :ph43r:

But nothing´s 100% sure. It seemed they cut out Dante from DMC4 and replaced him with Neo, but then CAPCOM announced that Dante will return.

So as long as nothing´s 100% confirmed thanks to Famitsu scans, CAPCOM announcements, etc....it´s open. For the better or worse.
indeed, but note that dante was a "safe step" for capcom(in case the fans/players "rejects" the new characters they offer),just like when they got ryu and ken back for SFIII and that nero and dante are the only playable characters in DMC4

SB3 already did that by still having masa~yuki and a whole bunch of old cast around

to be said, even if all of the rumored characters really got shafted its still better than the DW6 fiasco where there are NO new characters and a lot got shafted............plus the story is just rebooted over and over again without some kind of "progress"

so cast away the ":ph43r:" and embrace SB3!

I´ll never do that!

Hisahide is my only and main concern.(I even got over that fact there might be NPCs...what am I talking about? It´s BASARA, there will be NPCs -_- )

If they can´t add a simple thing as a character that was planned to be playable since about 2 games and weren´t able to work out a moveset for him in more than 2 years.....I´ll lose fate in humanity :ph43r:

Yeah, I know, Drama Queen, but really, that is my only wish, since my first one was granted with the revamped Ieyasu. The second one is finally being able to play as Hisahide and blow some **** up!

Also seeing him in the SB anime, hearing his voice in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 as Ali Al-Saarchez(awesome character too), playing SB2:H and SB:BH...when will I get to play him...it´d be such a tease... :(

EDIT: BTW...doesn´t Kojuuro say things like "I´ll ****ing kill you" and other curses in his berserk mode or when he´s just pissed off?

Do you think they´ll use that in the english version too? :sly:

Well, Kojuro uses some pretty heavy words, but there isn't such a clear difference between curse and non-curse words in Japanese, AFAIK...so they might change it into "Now you're gonna die!!" or "Get ready to meet your maker!!" and it wouldn't be wrong, I guess....?

On Topic: 10 days (hopefully less) till the next leak. Now the game has been announced, and we know basic details about characters, story and have a gist of the gameplay. Kobayashi will have to show more stuff this time, if he wants to keep the interest up....(/wishful thinking)

I personally hope they keep the swearing in the English version. I know they probably won't and it's more or less wishful thinking on my behalf, but imagine how awesome it would be. I mean, this is a game about war and when your on a battlefield, fighting for your life, you're naturally going to curse. Plus it'd make the game more bad ass and appeal to the more maturer audience.

But, sadly, I doubt it'll happen. This is one of the reasons I normally hate localizations. I know they probably think swearing is a bad example but it can be seen in a different perspective e.g To add drama and give the player a 'pumped up' feeling.

Speaking of which, I wonder how they'll potray Masamune. Personally, part of his appeal came from his Engrish, but seeing as though the game will be translated in English...
I know the whole Engrish thing is just a small part of his personality, but it was pretty awesome to hear

Give him Janglish? Y'know, like interjections of french, only instead have it in a much more Masamune flair and in gratuitous Japanese.

^god no>.<,just let him speak in normal english with a badass voice tone, think of US version masamune as dante in a japanese armor>.<

a little novelty though:why not have nakai voice the US dub in full english?,that'll simplify things>.<

as for kojuuro, they're going to need some really awesome VA to handle his moodswings.....but alas he only flips out ONCE in the whole game history(SB2,SBX,&SBBH doesnt have a flipped out kojuro scene IIRC>.<),so its quite baseless to worry about his swearings........

Well we still have this game to get another 'holy sh*t' moment from him. But its gonna be hard to top his badassery from SB2H though. That's still one of my favorite stages in all of SB.

You know how easy it is to give Kojuro a"holy sh*t" moment?

Get him to massacre Mitsunari because he beat Masamune, when i mean massacre, i mean rip the mutha to shreds :sly:

Thats a "kojuro holy sh*t" moment if i've ever seen one. :XD

given that mitsunari does not get ripped to shreds by the man of date of course, masamune was badly injured because matsunaga was using hostage+dirty bomb tricks+he had already thrown his weapon away, even with one sword he can still pummel kojuuro a bit, makes wonders how your theory would come out.......

it is indeed a "holy sh*t" moment, although its more of a "how in the world those really cool fast attacks do so little damage?!" moment (kinda like when you first played as fumma kotaro and can't kill a single enemy with its BASARA)

I disagree, Kojuro has always been speculated to be "holding back" and to even be more powerful than Masamune... I could easily see him giving Mitsunari a beat down in his story.

what i meant was its not easy to make kojuuro flip out,let alone by simply pitting mitsunari with masamune, its not like masamune is a wuss that can be easily "ripped" without some tactic of sorts

is his post you're commenting or my post?its a bit confusing really.......

Ah my mistake, I thought you were saying Kojuro is too weak to defeat Mitsunari and avenge his master.

Ya never know, though.

I mean, one of the things that I think could really be to this game's benefit, especially in the West, would be if they basically did a lot to showcase how "stylish" and "bad-ass" this game is (not unlike a certain other Capcom franchise), right down to its characters.

So I say, let 'em include some cussin'. The M Rating would likely only give the game only more in the way of an "Edge" for impressing the prospective player. And it's not like Capcom or Funimation alike are adverse to such a thing, so why not?

Meh. Where would be the fun in that, though?

I mean, part of what made Masamune so interesting/comical/endearing was due to the Engrish. You lose that, and you basically are left with a much more boring character. If it weren't such things like his Six Swords style, he really would be basically just a Dante in Japanese armor. Boring....

Of course, the thing about a potential localization is that, really, there's no way you can dub Masamune's "charm" in such a way like that. There in lies the challenge for Capcom and Funimation.

To me, two ideas exist on how to best represent that aspect of Masamune in a dub:

1) 50's era gangsta - With Masamune's rag tag band comprising of a bunch of misfits sporting pompadours and etc, as well as Masamune himself trying to have a "Harley Davidson Horse", it might be an interesting thing to give Masamune a voice that has a distinct 50s vibe. Maybe even have him sound like he could be a ringleader of a gang from "West Side Story". It'd be very fitting. :hehe:

2) Ghetto...I mean, "Oshuu Superstar!" - Now, if I was in charge, and REALLY wanted to be daring? I would basically turn Masamune (and probably Kojuuro too) into a black man. :XD

For example....there's no hope that a straight translation of Nakai's "Put ya gunz ON!" line would have as much lasting effect and impact in English. In fact, it'd probably sound right lame.

So, if I were to instead do a "Ebonics" style translation of the beginning part of the anime, and that infamous exchange with his men...

Masamune: Y'all bitches ready for dis?
Dudes: YEAH!
Masamune: Put ya mutha****in' guns in the air!!
Dudes: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

*fight scene begins, Masamune jumps into the air, six swords at the ready, and then starts slashing up a storm*

Masamune: OH YEAH!!! FROM OSHUU, *****Z!!! BITCHASS MUTHA****AS DON'T KNOW BOUT DA ONE-EYED DRAGON!

Basically, make Masamune (and Kojuuro) as crunk as possible. That's one of the ways I could really see an American Masamune and crew having as much impact in the West, as Nakai's in the East.

But whatever route they choose? PLEASE don't just make him a Dante in samurai armor. Don't doom Masamune to that kind of generic thing. I'm beggin ya, Capcom and Funimation...

LOL,still worrying about that...

as with GM/DWG series i never bothered buying a localized version anyway, especially because SB is not that complicated to play and that its guaranteed to have the VA's everyone want(the original>.<)

i can't say the same for the DW/SW series though since they have special conditions that needs to be fulfilled mid battle that could prevent you enjoying the game(because you will lose) if you can't read all of the stuff in the briefings and must restort to FAQs every 5 minutes or so.................

I like the ghetto Masamune idea! (even if I think that you pushed a little too far, Ben..lol) and I guess that'd fit, but honestly I'd like the 50's thug style better...Masamune and Kojuro use a lot of gang-speak, so...

About BK's pet peeve...I was just thinking that if Capcom wrote them the proper way (and Samurai Heroes made some success) it would throw normal fans in a state of confusion....is it Date Masamune or Masamune Date??? Yukimura Sanada or Sanada Yukimura??? I can already see the GFaqs boards riddled with such topics.......

I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head or...whatever...

I'm just glad it won't be another "devil king's" I'd rather punch myself in the face than play that horribly translated version. I'm slightly saddened that Nagamasa was cut from 3's roster. I'm kind of wondering if the states will ever see the SBH2 release that was supposedly being translated...?

LOL Ben :XD
I gotta admit, G-Masamune would be freakin' sweet, especially the way you potrayed him. All the swearing would certainly attract more of the... 'cooler' crowd, not to mention it'd be a very unique spin on the Dokuganryu. But I'm more partial to the 50's gangster idea, just as it pops more style in my opinion. It'd appeal to me waaay more than the Dante persona I can see Capcom giving him...

Any way, I'm still kinda edgy about the localization screwing up the names aswell. You never know though, Capcom must know there's some serious Sengoku era history buffs around the world and seeing as the game is based on the Sengoku jidai, what better way to teach newbs about Japan than to actually get the names in the right order...

LOL at Ben: that would be cool LMAO

As far as the English voices go why not bring back some of the cast from Devil kings playin it last night I have to say its one of the best dubbed games i've heard Kasuga "veneus" Is fantastic you really get a feel for her character with the voice "Veneus... is rising"

Nobunaga is another Exellent his voices really brings the evil into the character "How many must we KILL!"

but last fave would have to be yukimura (the hotshot type) his voice was energetic, fun and cocky of course if the same guy was gonna do it for SB3 they would need to feed him anti-depressants lol but I really think the voice cast for Devil kings was amazing.

oh and does anybody know where i can get the OST for devilkings i've been looking for ages and haven't been able to find it :(

It's drawing nearer guys, the dawning of Yoshitsugus announcement \(^o^)/
Not going to get this game or anything, but man, if that floaty dude is not Yoshitsugy i will cry.

Pwease Capcom.
Tell me about it. Although, the chances of the sillhouetted character being him are extremely high due to certain aspects of its design. But you can find all that out in the info post...

But seriously, if the off-chance it isn't him, I'll rage big time

Edit: Nevermind, DK found you the OST for free.
BLAAARRRGGGHHHH, I didn't know you could download the soundtrack from this very website for free! Damn, I spent £20 on the Heroes OST (T.T)

And JasBell... uhh... Matsu has been a playable character since the first game...

Ghetto!Masamune: "What did my 6 swords say to yo' face?!" *SLASH!* :XD

In a way, I guess I was highly inspired by shoryuken.com. When Sengoku BASARA X enjoyed a period of time in the sun, it had a good-sized following over there. And well, the "stigma/myth" about how 90% of SRK is black, is at least some what true...hell, I'm black myself. :hehe:

Any way, as a history major, it of course, irks me a bit when things like "reverse order of historic Asian names" are abound, but I usually did more to look the other way, because, well, these are video games, not exactly "scholarly works".

However, as I said over at GFaqs...part of me wonders if Capcom may be willing to set the bar a bit higher. After all, with Devil Kings still probably a sore spot on their memory, it might be more in their interests to do something more akin to a "no nonsense" localization this time around, "proper" naming order included.

I mean, leaving the name orders alone should be something relatively easy. Whether your a budding historian like myself or not, it's not like it's something that you can't pick up and run with it easily enough. No "givings" had to be made for Dynasty Warriors' sake, so isn't it about time such things are finally put aside?

Any way...I'm wondering if the fact that the Hokuto no Musou game is going to be unveiled soon, might be a thing that Capcom will wait a lil while longer, like say, next week. After all, even though HnK isn't as huge as say, Gundam, it's still likely a thing that could stand to steal a good deal of BASARA's thunder. I'm sure Kobyashi and crew were likely made aware of this game's impending announcement even before we were, so timing shouldn't be but so much of an issue...
