Ah, I forgot about those cannons. Lack of SW1 play made me forget.
Waiting for something new here as the SM3 site update was pretty good.

Well as for near certanties, everybody has their own ideas but the ones we all pretty much agree on at the moment are:

Shima Sakon
Naoe Kanetsugu
Mogami Yoshiaki
a Tokugawa retainer

I put it in spoilers, read if you want to really get pissed off.

On a better note, I'm new to this game of 'Let's Guess What Kobayashi Is Talking About', but I'm really thinking that the silhouette character might be Nana, from your guys' description and suggestions about her. If not, I won't be too upset for being wrong. WTF do I know?

Even if the sillhouette chick isn't Mago, theres still a really high chance he'll make it due to the Saika crest appearing in a number of screen shots :)

As for your other question, I'm guessing (and hoping) Kanetsugu will make the cut. He came 2nd on the poll, the next batch has Keiji in it, so there might be a chance that the next sillouette we get will be Kanetsugu, due to thier friendship. He's also been kind of a unique NPC, even appearing in the anime, so I reckon its time for Capcom to upgrade him with a unique appearance. Plus, the Uesugi needs one more general to truley rival the Takeda.

Originally, I would've said both Kanetsugu and Kagekatsu stand a equal chance of getting in, but now, with the announcement of "No new characters will share the surnames of existing ones", I'm definitely thinking its Mr. Muteki.

Sadly though, I have this horrible feeling that they'll make him a sort of joke character... :meantongue:

Edit: Ok, chill out Chibi. I've stated a number of times it's a peeve of mine. Hell, my last post stated I won't mention it any more. It is pretty funny though. BASARA has been accused of ripping-off Musou for ages now, and suddenly, we see SM3 'taking ideas' from thier competition, and people can't stand to hear that, for once, Koei may be the one 'ripping-off' ideas... But again, sorry. I won't bring it up anymore -_-

I'm sorry too, I've been holding in my wangst for awhile now too. That's why I put it in the spoiler tags, if only not to clutter up the forum. I'm just irritated that people really get worked up over something that I guess I just don't see as worth getting worked up over (yet, I get worked up over people getting worked up. I know, I'm a hypocrite, but we all are, and you're lying if you deny it.) If anyone wants to retaliate against me personally, feel free to take it to PM. I'll accept your flames of fury there.

The only thing that even remotely puts the idea of the chick being Magoichi is probably just the humor of how it completely contradicts Koei's Magoichi. I know I shouldn't compare, but the thought of a lady's man turning into a woman just tickles me all sorts of pink.

However, I'm pretty sure it's not. And if it is, I'll probably **** bricks, because I really, really don't want to be right on this. That's just silly. There's a reason why people like me don't write ideas for video game companies. :shifty:

Hmm, just now I've been wondering how the new gunner character's moveset will be. So far even if the new characters have similar weapons with the old characters they still have their unique styles. For example Hideyoshi and the new Ieyasu who both fight bare-handed, Hideyoshi is more into grappling enemies, while Ieyasu is more into boxing style. And then Mitsunari and Kenshin both with Iaijutsu, but Kenshin has a more elegant Iai while Mitsunari has quick-kill Iai.

That being said, since Nouhime had the perk to use various firearms, I wonder what moveset will the new character have to distinguish from Nou.. maybe something more like exclusively using the guns while presenting more stylish gunslinger moves? Then again I guess that kind of costume might not hold mysterious space which can store those huge firearms.

Anyway, why don't we take a break for a while to calm our mind off and effectively use time until the time for next info batch comes? Something like this, perhaps?

@~in3vitableTIMING~:

My theory, based on some facts and hints:

Magoichi - Weīve seen the Saika crest in many pictures, os itīs most likely him/her
Mogami Yoshiaki - Tetsu Shiratori(Jap VA) has "leaked" on his site that heīll voice him in SB3
Naoe Kanetsugu - was a NPC in SB2/Heroes/Battle Heroes/BASARA anime(he even had a loved crested helmet there) so itīs time they had him
Sasaki Kojiro - Musashi and Kojiro, one canīt live without the other and Sekigahara would be a great battleground for them since Musashi actually fought in it - but if they donīt add they should just cut Musashi <_<
Nana - That should be enough :sly:
Tokugawa Retainer - hey, Ieyasu had only Tadakatsu(ok...itīs TEH Hondam) there gotta one more now that heīll unite japan...like Hattori Hanzo or Ii Naomasa...just some Tokugawa retainer.
And then, Iīll just assume that:
Ishida retainer/former Toyotomi retainer - probably to even out numbers with someone like Shima Sakon or Kobayakawa Hideaki

Also count in another female character (if Magoichi isnīt one) like ChaCha, Tachibana Ginchiyo or Hosokawa Gracia

Spoiler in response to chibi's rant thingi-ma-bob. (note this is an explanation to make you understand where we are coming from and to help make you like us and the SB boards and games more)

Spoiler: click to toggle

I have a feeling Kobayakawa and Ii Naomasa will be in the game, simply because they're important to Sekigahara, and due to the info Makishima! said in the videos thread, that neither of those two were seen in the vids.

Kobayakawa Hideaki was a Mouri retainer who 'fought' for the western side, until he betrayed them and joined the eastern army, and because of this betrayel he ensured victory for the tokugawa. He would be great for Sekigahara, and he would fuel some hate from Motonari and Mitsunari

Naomasa was the freakin' red devil! Need i say more? WEll, he was also the person to spill the first blood on the Field of Sekigahara if that helps his case any bit.

Sorry to refer to SW here, but Kobayakawa was the guy that could be on either side, correct? That'd be interesting; I'd wonder how that issue, if historically accurate, would be handled and how it'll effect the character.

I have no objections to Naomasa Ii.

Yes, Kobayakawa was that nerdy guy in SW that could go either way, but it was a poor portrayal of him, he was a good general, he was fair at combat and very good at leading his men (hence his undecidedness of choosing which side to be on, he always had to chose the right side and always had to lead his men to victory, he would be ashamed if he didn't, he also was the one to slay Yoshitsugu.

Oh, and it is perfectly fine to reference SW here as long as it ins't insulting either game.

Everyone who said SW copied stuff from SB is just jealous. I haven't noticed anything being copied. They are 2 seperate games, bringing something like this up in a Koei forum is worthless.

I am losing interest in SB, It looks like its going to be like DW being very repetitive with the same costumes and probably same moveset even though it is getting quite a lot of new characters. It still doesn't bring it up to SW3 standards. By the time this game comes out SW3 might get released on PS3.

I still like SB, Motochika is my favourite character, I don't like No and Kenshin in this game though. I hate what they did with Kenshin. :hmmm: He looks like a girl.

Uh...Hideaki didn't kill Yoshitsugu, one of Yoshi's retainers did.

I doubt Hideaki won't be added in this game, considering the fact the focus is all Sekigahara and stuff.

Oh and...

Ture on the subject of Yoshitsugu, he did get his retainer to commit senpaku with him, but it was due to Hideaki's assault and relentless attacks, Hideaki routed all of Yoshitsugu's forces, he just didn't kill him directly, but he was the cause of his death.

Well, I can certainly understand Kobayakawa would be indecisive, given his situation and the decision he had to make, and if anything I'd think that'd make for a good story. He can be seen as a 'two sided' character; when you're playing against him (or with you as an ally), you'd probably see a coward, will-less and swaying with whichever side he thinks is beneficial to himself. But when you play as him, you maybe realize that he is indecisive, but it's not for himself, but his army.

Just a shot in the dark. I don't write scripts for anything for a reason. I kind of like a character that's conflicted at times. Adds spice, drama, and boy do I love me some drama.

And IIRC Hideaki was good with polerams, so i thikn a good weapon for him would be three spears that he weilds simutaneously, and he could juggle them around, it would be a pretty epic move set. He could hold one in one hand and two in the other, the two spears would be crossed to form an X shape.

Well, of course they have the same costumes KoW

Itīs CAPCOM. Just imagine if Masamune would look different. Ryu allways looks like Ryu, Dante will allways look like Dante.

CAPCOM is trying to make the characters of their favourite/most successfull franchises, iconic. Itīs so that people remember the characters easier. Thereīll be some unlockable alternate costumes in BASARA 3, like allways(and not just some crappy pallette/color swaps)

Also thereīll be a lot of new characters.
I mean the game will be released in around 5 months(!) and we all should understand that they canīt throw around characters if itīs still such a long time to go(doesnīt mean they have to pull off that crappy marketing site of a joke).
We allready have re-vamped FINALLY AWESOME Ieyasu, Mitsunari and Yoshitsugu + a "shadow girl". So thatīs allready four new characters + 8 "old" characters (Yukimura, Masamune, Motonari, Motochika, Tadakatsu, Keiji, Sasuke, Kojuuro) and there is still so much time left for other (new/old) characters to be revealed...so donīt worry about that.

Donīt lose your interest in a great game, because thereīs a drought on infos. Youīll see, around December youīll wear a "I luv Sengoku Musou/BASARA 4 eva" T-shirt)

And please, let us all stop this "who stole first" thing. If you want it like that, they all stole the idea of electronic gaming from PONG. Yeah, all are thieves, shame on them. The SW board is filled with that crap enough, letīs not waste space of the servers for more of it. -_-

Also, something "a bit" off-topic at the end:

Whatīll happen in future BASARAs? I mean theyīll probably be about the past again...so is Ieyasu going back into "childhood" or will he stay the way he is now?

Exactly, there must be some way that SW fans and BASARA fans can get along or at the very least, tolerate each other.

I hate when hardcore SW fans bash BASARA or when hardcore BASARA fans bash SW, it's just ridiculous.

I don't know what will happen in future BASARA titles...anything can happen. :D

Chibi, if that comment about the hard core SB nerds trolling the SW boards was directed at me, I apologise. I guess I thought it was revenge time to all the noobs who constantly bash SB, despite not playing it. It was pretty immature of me and its like Eni stated, two wrongs don't make right.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm personally hoping we get Naomasa instead of Hanzo if we only get one new Tokugawa retainer. Not to say I wouldn't dig Hanzo, but I'm thinking of how awesome a design Naomasa would have, sporting the name 'Red Devil'. I could see him being one of the more bad ass characters, especially since he spilled the first blood on Sekigahara. Tsuchi could do some pretty kick ass things with him.

@DK: I'm guessing after SB3, they'll try focus on all the Sengoku period, similar to there past games. I'm hoping, in time, we'll see a roster of 50+, all unique from one another :sly:
Oh yeah, I doubt they'll revert Ieyasu from the new bad ass that he is to little Takechiyo that he once was. That'd only rile up his fans, IMO.

LOL, BK, is that screen from T6?
I'm guessing the customization is pretty deep, considering you morphed Steve into Ieyasu... That is Steve, right?

What happens if we're a fan of both series? Does that I mean I need to argue and bash myself?

No one has managed to get scans of the Dengeki article right? Which issue was it supposed to be in, again? I know a friend of mine was considering buying some Dengeki issues and I wonder if the one she was looking at had the article in there.
