LOL, regarding the initial character cut thing, I was one of the few who didn't feel as much since most of my favorite characters still have good chance to appear. But still, the fact that the Uesugi is becoming NPC and the only character to represent them is Uesugi Keiji (LOL @ DK's sig) makes me go meh. ![]() Anyway, to be honest, even I am surprised that this week we'd get another SB3 info. I thought it's just gonna be FF13 infested (and I can't help chuckling at it getting denied a perfect score)... probably this week's update would be more into the system, and perhaps..... introduction of unique generic Naoe 'Muteki' Kanetsugu? *runs*

yeah, masamune and yukimura starts to feel like "ryu&ken" for me nowadays mainly because the challenge when playing as them is relatively low(although not as low as when playing as sasuke or kenshin),in my late SB2H days i main yoshihiro, keiji and ujimasa.......well,at least two character is still in>.< Edited by wodash, Wed Dec 9, 2009 2:24 am.

If we do only get info, then it will be pointless since it will be nearly impossible to see what is says until the HQ scans come out.

Yep. FF13 got 39/40, 10-9-10-10. Anyway, even though I do want the batch interval to shorten, I still don't think it'd be this early. I'm gonna think they are waiting until the new year before they tilt the bucket more. But even then I'm just hoping that they would shorten it from about 6 weeks to a solid 4 week update if they still go with '+-4 characters per batch' And just now someone just said that the contents of SB3 info is just some event screenshots between Ieyasu and the Uesugi. No pic of proof yet though, keep that in mind. |

39/40...a bit picky, no? Lets hope for some more of Maggie's gameplay. Ieyasu vs the Uesugi? What else can they show us about that? |

WAit.... Ieyasu against the Uesugi? Random i have to say, i thought the Tokugawa and Uesugi would have next to no interactionas at all with each other, and the Ueasugi would just face the Tokugawa because the Takeda are doing so. I thought all the conflict would be Date against the Uesugi.... Makes more sense that way IMO. But i guess it provides some better insight as to why the Uesugi are fighting against Ieyasu. Man, i feel like there is a lot of Tokugawa hate in this game... @Battle-Flowers: Thank you ^__^ |

Well, so far most of the characters introduced are those who historically were in the Western army, so I guess it can't be helped. Wish they also introduced more Eastern guys soon. But didn't Kenshin recognize Ieyasu's power or something like that in his description? Perhaps it has something to do with this. |

I do believe it was a thing that Kenshin admitted that Ieyasu inherited "the tiger's spirit". Perhaps the stage is one where Ieyasu gets to prove that much... |

As I've been absorbing all of the info that's been coming in, I've been having concerns as to whether or not this game will do well overseas. I mean, let's be honest; KOEI's success shows that the Japanese love the hack-n-slash, and will eat this up. But Americans and Europeans are a lot pickier. There's a reason DW was on G4's "Franchises That Must Die" list; it's very name has become in America as dreadful to hear as Sonic the Hedgehog. And since DW is seen as the "face" of the hack-n-slash genre, there's a good chance this'll be marked as a DW "clone" and get trashed. And even if that doesn't happen, this game is gonna be seen as Devil Kings 2. Hell, I saw a post on IGN in response to a trailer for SB3, where a guy recognized Azure Dragon and Scorpio, believed this to be "the dreaded sequel that never came" and has automatically shown hostility towards this game. Americans tend to only listen to what they want to hear; people are gonna ignore the fact that DK is a butchered version of SB, ignore that SB3 is the unbutchered sequel, and ignore that this is the THIRD in the franchise, satisfied with hating a game they know very little about. I can't speak for Europe, but the existance of this site shows that Europe at least has a larger fanbase. But maybe this game could do well. Capcom's anime-style approach, with offbeat characters and faster gameplay, might be more favorable than KOEI's realistic/historical approach. In fact, I think KOEI's approach is becoming it's downfall; it focuses on staying historically accurate (with some bends, mind you), and this appeals to the Japanese, but it fails overseas because many people don't know the history and don't care about learning about it. Also, the online co-op should be a big plus. The Xbox has made Americans addicted to online; the only games that are offline are those made solely to be single-player (which SB3 shouldn't be), and many games today support themselves solely on online. Again, can't speak for Europe, but it might be similar. And I know I'm probably gonna get something along the lines of "Stop caring so much about reviews/other people's opinions/etc." and you're right. But I still hope that this game does well outside Japan. The series needs it. The genre needs it. It'll make me feel a bit more at peace knowing that I'm not a minority of people who think this is a good buy, especially considering my friends who take reviews very seriously. And more popularity means more people to play with online.

Woohoo I'm back on the forums, anyone miss me??? Well regarding character cuts I have to say I'm quite indifferent from the subject . There will always be new characters that could easily replace an old character and become your new favorite.Plus like Koba says cut characters will be returning in future games. That could be sooner than you think *coughSB3:Heroescough* As for the Famitsu scans today I believe it'll have random game info, like of there are alternate costumes(which it seems I'm the only one who wants them),stages, weapon customization etc. Anyway I would type ALOT more interesting stuff but I have to do my science project(which for some reason I keep doing last minute every year ) |

I agree with you that people will think "DW clone LOLZNESS!" but most of the responses to the gameplay and trailer vids i saw were pretty positive, people thought it looked like DW but 10X better, and if they are interested enough, come review time, they can let the high scores and blown away reviewers make their final decesion for them.

Well, people are going to say what they want to say. G4 may decry Sonic as much as I am prone to do now a days, it doesn't stop the fact the games still sell well. The same could just as easily be said Dynasty Warriors; the games still do decently, in spite of how much the media puts them blast. It's the same practice that's been a part of the hypocritical "gaming media" for decades now. Until basically a decade ago, the main target was the likes of Mega Man. It too, was a series that was accused of being the same thing over and over again. Some people were crying for the series' demise, as well. And then, what? The series lies low for a few years, comes back with a new 8bit game, and most everybody goes wild. So, really, don't trust what the fools in the media talk about. They're catering towards the sheep like masses that can't think for themselves. They've been repeating the same rhetoric for ages now, and show no signs of stopping. As for BASARA? Well, that's more up to Capcom, then anything else. The likes of me and the BASARA fans on this site can do our part, but we can't be stronger advocates for the series than its own maker. "Devil Kings" was the end result of how the game got marketed TERRIBLY, and the game itself suffered as a result. So, it can't be stressed enough, Capcom has to be willing to do what it takes to champion their own cause. And do it the RIGHT way this time. They do that, and there shouldn't be any reason for this game to not at least do decently... |

So Mega Man suffered in it's day more than I thought. I knew people were starting to complain about the lacking ideas for Robot Masters (you know you're out of ideas when you resort to Centaur Man ), but people complaining about it being too repetitive? Today, "Mega Man" and "repetitive" in a sentence together, impossible. Funny how Mega Man was also made by Capcom. Coincidence?I ain't gonna argue over this. You are right. In case I wasn't fully clear, I am not a sheep; I can think for myself, and I dunno whether or not I will get this game, but it won't be because of a bad score. But I still want this game to do well. I don't want this game to suffer because of false connections to an unrelated franchise (DW) or a previously-butchered installement (DK), especially if, without the prejudices these have caused, SB3 would be seen as a good game. You're mentioning of Sonic and DW doing decently through me off a bit. Are you talking about sales or reviews? Because I don't care about sales; it's irrelevant trivia. Reviews are what will "make or break" the game for a lot of people. Just look at New Moon; it was a box office smash but it has a 25-30% Rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It doesn't matter if it sells well if it's also bad. |

I actually think that is the whole point. The fact that both the DW series and the Sonic series get horrendous reviews and yet still sell decently gives some hope to the success of SB3. |

How does that make any sense? And its not like Capcom needs to bring this series over to the west, or that they need it to sell there. As you can see from how many games in the series there are already, Capcom would be more than content to just continue this as a japan-only franchise. Adding in more content for the west? Won't happen, doesn't need to happen, and shouldn't ever happen. |

Well, yeah, I'm pretty lucky on the character cuts as well. I'll be maining Keiji, possibly Motonari and with the introduction of Yoshi, him too. If Koba is really gracious, I might get Toshiie as well Still, you gotta laugh at FFXIII's score. Seriously, after all the recent 40's Famitsus been giving out, I bet the FF boards are going wild, especially since XII recieved a perfect score... and we all know how the public feel about that game. In the end though, its only a review. About SB not doing well over seas... I agree with Ben. Its up to Capocom. I reckon if they market it well and show actual game play trailers, people would see its not just another DW game. I mean, show the people its fast flowing, anime-esque, stylish action, and its bound to attract some of those who felt the DW series was boring, and the character designs would easily cater to the Manga and Anime fans... Anyway, w00t for more SB3 info, no matter how lame it might be. I wasn't expecting anything new until next month or Jump Festa, so this is much appreciated. Lets hope Koba doesn't hit us with another low blow. |

The best would be to finally release the english version of the Sengoku BASARA anime in TV/DVD and also give us a downloadable SB:SH demo on PSN and maybe even on the Wii. Add in some advertising and hope for some good reviews from sites like IGN, Gametrailers, etc. of about 7.5+ and it´d sell A LOT better than Devilkings. CAPCOM...don´t screw it up again. But they´ve allready taken a good step...if it really is released around September 2010...since a March/April release would be suicide. God of War 3 comes out, Final Fantasy XIII comes out and Yakuza 3 will be released in America around March 2010. Those games would surely take away a lot of attention... Hmmm...nothing on the Famitsu scans yet? Even though they are just pictures there might be something hidden in the text. Also, I haven´t said anything about Yoshihiro yet. Actually, I´m more excited to see a gameplay vid of him, then to know who the chained guy is. Cause I want to know, if they finally got rid of his weird S-String or at least his S-String BASARA attack.

Yeah, Yoshihiro in general needs a revamp...both in the gameplay aspect and the character interaction aspect...he has one of the potentially coolest secenes in Sekigahara (Imagine having to break through ALL the Eastern generals (with Tadakatsu last) in a frenetic stage with the main song blaring....but with a blocky s-string and just a few good skills. That'd put a damper on anyone....let's keep our fingers crossed! Anyway, looking forward to the scans...*gets into F5 position* Today's ND notes: Lady Getsuei was missed!! Seraphil delivered (he doesn't post much here, but he always delivers. I guess the Basara air does him good...:P) |
