So after being half bored and half taking over the land with Yuan Shao as Zhao Yun because it was too easy, I decided it was about time I used one of the Special characters, my case, Cao Pi. In Officer Mode I tried Master and had a fun fight with Wei Yan and a few others. Then decided I wanted to make him a ruler, kept it on Master... and... Well I died in a few hits. Then turned it to Hard, then Normal... then Easy! Easy felt like I was playing on Master itself! Dead in a few hits. So what I did was try Easy again, but this time instead of just Cao Cao with me in a battle, Zhang He and Xu Huang tagged along. I noticed it was easier and I could take more hits. Noticing the morale was in favor of me as well. This was all on the Land of Chaos fictional scenario, so it's not as if anyone had a big force. So morale and troop count REALLY DOES effect you, it's insane! And I guess the mode really does effect the hardness, too. Being a Ronin and Officer were so easy compared. How do you guys here take over, The Three Kingdoms scenario for example, as a Ruler and by default weapon, then? I guess with Training? I guess it's the first time you need to use something other than going straight into battle on your first stage using a Ruler. Edited by LittleDragonZ, Jun 27 2009, 12:56 PM.

I don't know- I haven't played Officer or Ronin mode yet, but I can tell you that towards the end of Ruler mode, so long as you max out your stats, getting all of the training abilities, AND max out Renbu, then it's ridiculously easy. Just keep an eye on your morale and troops, that's all. In the beginning I had issues against the Inspired officers, but even they aren't much of a fuss after maxing out stats. I really need to try those other modes... curse my inability to do two things at once. |

Well I know troop count has always had an effect, but for someone who attacks a territory in his or her first mission and dies in a few hits, that's worth mentioning. But now I'm currently about to kill Liu Bei, had an easy time really, seems to be getting easier since his land is shrinking. And when you lose, then go back without healing in the next battle, your allies and yourself have a harder time. So that's the troop advantage. And for the morale, as soon as you get the upperhand and kill off some important officers, not letting any move down the side unguarded or whatnot, you really do ride the momentum. Whereas if they struggle at first since you're not doing any damage, they will flee and the whole battle will be a nightmare. I've been having problems with the actual timer running out, too. Where the commander wouldn't show until the dying minutes. Edited by LittleDragonZ, Jun 27 2009, 09:21 PM.

Before I realized there was a bonus option to carry over weapons, I had to go through master and chaos difficulty in ruler mode with default weapons. Insane? Possibly, but fun? Heck yes. I have to tell you though that the difficulty from hard to master is much more significant than from easy to normal and normal to hard. Hard was literally as easy as on normal and easy, once your characters are developed, have abundance of troops and morale is equal or towards your favor. Master was actually challenging even if you had all of the above, including max weapons, levels, abilities, and rad specials. On chaos? Even better. Though, if you despise getting KO'ed in 2-3 hits even at max level, you'll probably end up more frustrated than having fun (as I did initially). At the moment though, I can go through stages in chaos without taking much damage at all. And yeah, all I play now is on Master and Chaos. Everything else is just too ridiculously easy, even if you don't use any bonus stuff. |

How exactly did you even go through master in ruler mode? You die way too fast and your allies die really quickly also, combine that with the fact that it takes a good amount of hits to even kill a private. |

Carry over your weapons if you're using previous characters from previous finished game. Or purchase the 50000+10000 gold bonuses and level up your weapon to at least level 8 before you attempt to invade/defend. With either two, Master isn't that difficult if you keep adequate morale and avoid taking damages during battle. Only when the enemy invades when your troops are at an extremely low amount is it excessively difficult. On Chaos though you definitely need a weapon with at least flash on it, otherwise you'll just be running out of time trying to invade territories regardless of how developed your levels, skills, weapons, and troops are. Well you said you didn't carry over your characters from the post above mine. What was your strategy in winning a battle? I don't want to carry over my character mainly because I want to try someone new but i did manage to carry over my horse and 10000 gold to level up my weapon to about 5 or so. |

At current I use the 50000+10000 gold bonuses whenever I don't carry over weapons, then level my weapon to level 8 and fill up the skill tree (avoiding the bottom row) as much as possible, in instances where I desire to play as different characters not used on previous game. In battle, I just abuse roll and musou attacks. I find True Speed special helps a lot getting rid of officers quickly on Master, though it's a bit too risky to use in Chaos. If I'm having a difficult time or surrounded, I simply call for allies to back me up. Edited by wonderpierrot, Jun 29 2009, 10:16 PM.

It seems like you use the same strategy I do in battle for the most part and that is to abuse roll and musou. Although i haven't learned true speed yet but I just won my first battle in master in about like 7 attempts though. The trick seems to be to stick with your allies because unlike the lower difficulties its hard to do everything by yourself in the beginning. |

I never really used the roll much in DW6, but now that Guardian Spirit has become available in DW6E...it really seems pretty useful, especially since it cancels any attacks the enemy is charging up. I haven't tried playing on Master difficulty yet though, but I think I'll give it a go sooner or later - Normal difficulty is far too easy after all. |

I'm currently on my third playthrough on Chaos difficulty. The general concept of at least Chaos is built upon avoiding any amount of damage possible and killing officers quickly. That's why roll and musou is so prominent and useful, coupled with high damage/damage amplifying specials and musou filling specials. I find that in Chaos there isn't really room to execute anything fancy or fool around with full S strings and charge attacks, as you'll near 100% of the time be punished severely doing so. That's why I sometimes switch to Master just for the sake of leaving behind the monotoneness, though it's much less challenging. I think the new Guardian Spirit add on is one of the most beneficial add ons in the game, as you could easily use it to fill up a full musou bar in a matter of seconds, guard breaks, and since it is activated during an invincible state (roll). Though it shouldn't be a sole reason why you would be using roll, as roll is extremely important even without it on Master/Chaos to avoid taking any unnecessary damage. |

Rolling kept me alive in DW6 while I was playing through all the stages on Chaos. Now it could be the same. Guardian Spirit should help a lot. I'm still in my first game on Easy (can't play so much). But soon I'll make harder difficulties (of course I'll keep my weapons...there goes some time until you may buy Flash, without getting all jewels at the beginning). |

The key to beat this game on Chaos mode or any hard mode is just have a good weapon. You DEFINITELY need Guardian Spirit... It gives you insane amount of musou gauge, incredibly amount of safety, it even breaks guards, that ability is so broken in so many ways. Then next, you need the healing special ability... You really can't beat it or it'll take you a LOT of time trying to push/retreat for health. Now next, you need also increase your weapon range. It doesn't work for some characters like Sima Yi, Bow, whip user, dian wei etc. basically anything that's sling-ish.. i guess... True-musou is welcomed especially on high difficulty since you'll use a LOT of musou.... The one ability which make you drain musou faster, but increase attack is situational, like Sima Yi which has a very good musou finish could use it, so you could give it to him instead of the phantom hand. These are just some basic tips on what you need before you tackle the Chaos mode... even at lv 50 with everything maxed, you WILL die in one combo string from just a sub-officer... >_> |

No problems on Easy or Normal here. I'd prefer to have a lvl 10 weapon at Hard, since the Archers and Rock throwing blokes get pretty annoying. Haven't played on Master or Chaos yet. I plan on playing everyone to get the trophies, and to get their weapon up to lvl 10. After that, I will take my chances at Master/Chaos. |

Further playing, what I've experienced more is that the Empire modes start off very tricky, but gradually gets easier until it gets very easy. Anyone hate the Wu Zhang map? It's a nightmare having to battle there and control all the bases, especially when you want it to end quick. It's the only place I would prefer not to fight at. |

I have actually beaten a few battles on Master and Chao in DW6 originally but that was mostly because I did alot weapon farming at He Fei Castle Wei Side since rushing down to Sun Quan and killing him for the stronger weapons on this difficulty just made it easy for me. You just have know how to use the characters properly to overcome the difficulty. I wouldn't be doing Master or Chaos anytime soon in Empire until I finish up my other game save I am working on atm. |

Ditto!!! These guys get on my nerves sometime and on this game every general have 2 or 3 of them and at the battle of He Fei I found myself getting jumped by 5 generals. I didn't even bother counting the lieutenants. I gonna start on chaos mode next my bro just finished his empire mode and last time I played it was on master. Master's tough at first but once you get the right people on you side it's cake. I get the one's with last stand, high spirits and other stuff that increases my attack strength and combine them. (My favorite combo is rush of Ma Chao and calm before the storm or any other card that pervent the enemy from attacking) @TheMightyMarkSimo: I might be a little late but try Zhao yun's card if you got him on your team. I combined all my best attack cards and it still bare did any damage. Good thing I had flash or else I wouldn't have got it. Edited by Tempest, Jul 14 2009, 04:19 PM.
