I''ll think it has to be that Damn DW4 stage Nanman Campaign. Or SW2 Kenshin's and Shingen's Dream stage. Or DW3 He Fei stage Wei side.
You might also know me as Selsuno (PSN and XBL)

DW4 - Nanman Campaign - Shu/Wu - Hard.

Playing that stage alone and without being a commander (Zhuge for Shu, Lu for Wu) is incredibly hard, for me at least. Your allies usually get killed early in the stage and Nanman soldiers seem endless since each time you defeat Meng Huo all enemy strongholds respawn. If you get a good start (defeat Meng Huo a couple of times and Zhu Rong in a duel, get Ahui Nan, Dailai Dongzhu and eventually Jinhuan Sanjie to join you, make sure you don't lose all your allies), then your chances are still pretty good. But if you fail, well, all you really can do is to use a cheap tactic: fight near your commander until you hit 1000 KOs (max morale) and then just charge Meng Huo's base.

DW3XL's Very Hard difficulty also deserves some credit. It made all stages challenging to beat especially He Fei Castle.

I found DW3's Wu Zhang Plains battle to be the hardest, too long and many officers to kills, and a maze(ish) map. I think all battles become a lot easier if you defeat officers one by one though.

I think Nanman campaign in DW4 at Wu's side. When I played as the leader, Sun Jian, all my allies got killed in just several minutes which made it so tough to beat enemies. So, have to face Meng Huo and some Nanman officers alone.

DW4's Nanman campaign stage is quite hard. But there is an easy way out, and that is to beat Meng Huo at his main base right when the stages starts. You can also do all those tedious little missions in the stage to demoralize Meng Huo to beat the stage.

Shingen's/Kenshin's final Gaiden stage in Samurai Warriors 2 was just plain silly! Screw you Shimazu Yoshihiro! :meantongue:

+1

The Nanman Campains where a terrible shock when I found out those people ride elephants (Yes, I started DW with DW4). Allied officers dying fast, babysitting your commander, and struggling with the elephants made sure I had a hard time.

Elephant event also lowers your morale. I totally forgot to mention that's another reason why the stage is so hard: your morale decreases constantly (because of the climate, elephant and poison swamp events) and each time Meng Huo appears Nanman forces get a boost in morale.

The Nanman battle is one of the few I can remember from my DW4 days ...

Even though I wasn't as much into the series then, I can remember that battle as being ridiculously hard. I was a real n00b when it came to playing these games at that time
