Posts: 155 Group: Members Member #14,323 Joined: March 29, 2008	I do not have it yet but after playing it at my friends house, I thought it was absolutely AMAZING!! But I was shocked that free mode is gone and that you cant edit your own empire mode. I just wonder why they took things like that out. Note: I have only played this once. I dont know much about it.

At the very least I was hoping they would have some sort of load feature so that if you have DW6 saves, you can play free mode stages. They had that in DW5XL I beleive. Think it would have made a fine feature.

You could make random battles or you could make a historical battle. I personally believe it was a stupid decision since it seems like they were going back to DW4E with it's lack of options. There was a lot of value in that mode for me and it won't be as fun without it.

I expected this game to be radically different from previous installments so I expected some changes to be good and some to be bad. Disappointed really isn't the word I would use to describe it - it stinks, but it's not disappointing.

As to free mode, I never really used much in the previous Empires games since I had the option to freely place my officers everywhere in the Land in Chaos scenario so I can live without it but it kinda sucks now since I don't have the option anymore.

I loved free mode, there was so much to do as to making your own stage and putting what songs you wanted into it. It could improve if you could put more than 6 officers (8 for relief forces). A Hero of Chaos Posts: 446 Group: Members Member #11,011 Joined: November 11, 2007	I've played the game now for a month and have to say,if they had kept Free Mode in,it probably wouldn't have got boring so quickly. I'm on my 8th save and don't know what I could do now. In DW5 Empires,I had at least a chance to create own battles in Free Mode. But now,it's gone.

Since characters do not retain their levels in this game, I don't really mind that its gone.
