Phantom Hand + Guardian Spirit (I think those are the names?) nom nom nom... Sometimes also the thing that gives you true musou.

My favourite specials are rockfall and blizzard, or true speed for spear/staff people, and Ling Tong.

Imbues
True Musou: It helps make my attacks stronger.
Phantom Hand: Very effective with most of my characters especially since they have very short range weapons.
Arrow Sight: I don't know why, it just seems useful. ._.

Specials
Blizzard: Good for wiping out large crowds.
Taunt: This helped me with stronger enemies especially those in hyper mode.
Steal: Always good to have when I am running low on money, it actually helps alot.

Imbue
- True Musou
- Flash
- Phantom Hand
- Guardian Spirit
- Blizzard

Special
- True Speed
- Focus
- Double
- Brace

These are what I gave Lu Bu's weapon, so all these combined with "The One and Only" card, pretty much makes Lu Bu all but invincible.

All depends on which character I'm using. For example:

Zhang Liao
Imbue:
True Musou
Concentration
Swift Attack
Flash
Lightning Seal

Special:
True Speed
Focus
Recover
(Final one is free for any special to use, like steal)

Mainly focussed on massive damage on charge attack. Main base trembles in fear when Zhang Liao performs a musou when he's completely surrounded by officers and luitenants.

But for people like Yue Ying, I prefer to use:

Lady Chunhua (CAW w/ Yue Ying weapon)
Imbue:
True Musou
Concentration
Guardian Ring
Ice Seal
Flash (Will add it once I can get it for her)

Special:
Double
Steal
Blizzard

Mainly a gold farming musou finisher abuser to kill the entire battlefield. The Guardian Ring is perfect to reload musou without wasting too much enemies.

It all differs. And because of my version having a lot of bugs, I will have to adept to it.

I abuse Steal, Flames, Rockfall, and Blizzard. I care not what anyone else thinks- putting True Speed is pointless, if you can simply gain the ability later on in the Skills. Falcon rarely hits, Brace and Double are Okay, I suppose. Recover, again, pointless; just True Speed your ass to the base and get a meatbun. Taunt... ugh, helpful when the high moraled guys are attacking you. Ice and Fire are nice, but I just prefer the ones that attack ALL directions, not just in front of you.

Anything else I'm missing?

I'd take Fire over flames anytime. Flames reach is pretty limited, while Fire goes way to the back. Just wanted to state that.

Mainly what I aim for is Guardian Spirit first since you can get it very early. Then Phantom Hand and Double.

And I agree True Speed is not needed. It's especially annoying when you get the likes of Sima Yi's which is awful, and when you run at a large crowd, but before you stop and swing, you initiate the skill tree True Speed... Though at least when that Empire mode is finished you lose the ability. So it's not that bothersome. Of course Zhao Yun, Zhang Liao & Zhou Yu have the best versions of the move. Zhang Liao's more controllable since he runs slower.

i decided to make this thread after equiping falcon for the first time. now that's as good as useless.

i love true speed, but so many people say it's useless, but on master (and i'd guess chaos (haven't gotten that far yet)), it pretty useful in taking over bases, especially if you're still in the beginning and haven't yet reached level 30+, plus it's stronger than the true speed that everybody gets with the ability. with characters like lui bei or zhao yun it's practically impossible to get hit if you pay just a little attention.

i think steal, focus and concentration are the only once i haven't yet used. they seemed useless to me.

very insightive replies. thanks you guys. i usually go with phantom hands, true musou, swift attack and lightnight or ice seal, i'm never sure what else to put on my weapons. i always went with leech or something of that sort.

blizzard, flames and fire are madness, simply my favorites next to true speed hands down. but i think recover is also highly useful.

i just love this game! i wish there was a versus feature.

Well Fire is really handy for starting. With Focus I have not used it terribly much, but with the times I have done, seemed to me a bit on the slow side in recharging. Whereas I just think Phantom Hand and Double are both really good to have. And lastly with True Speed, many of them have decent strong charges like Xu Huang, Ling Tong etc. Whilst some like with Sun Ce and Zhen Ji seem more useful using square instead. Oh, and Swift Strike is decent, with characters like Cao Pi you'd find his tap charge last hit to almost come out instantly before his last previous attack.

Allow me to be the first to make a comment about how useless the speed twig of your training skills are.

If you're smart enough to buy a horse, you are already faster then the early speed up bonus you can buy. The horses you can get from Comet to Red Hare are faster then True Speed.

As for the weaker True Speed version, you have no control of it when you are running. It just happens. I usually have problems with that, since I occasionally stop to beat up crouds. Only way I use the strong True Speed is to reap smaller bases, like Watchposts or Armory.

The speed twig is utterly useless, unless you are absolutely sure you don't wanna buy a quick horse. Go for the Power Upgrades and for the Musou Upgrades first.

Yes, True Speed even effects mounts, you'll notice your character lowers/crouches his or her body whilst doing so. I think those who've said there's no need for a horse are those who think it's not worth pressing select and calling your horse a few times. As I've noticed how it takes about 3 horse whistles on average for it to come.

Besides, you'll want a horse when you start your next mode by carrying the data over. Unless you wish to buy the 50,000 and 10,000 bonuses and get True Speed that way.

I find myself using the following often:
Phantom Hand
Swift Strike
Flash
Ice Seal
True Musou

Blizzard
Focus
Taunt
Hide/Steal/Rockfall/Double

I can take out anything quickly, and for hyper and rulers, Focus + Taunt = GG.

I also do a lot of surprise attacks, so I use hide. otherwise i'd use steal, double or rockfall depending on the character.
Only brushes i use are the ones that came with photoshop.

I prefer Red Hare over True Speed when it comes to running from point A to point B. Some characters are horrible with True Speed- see Sima Yi and Lu Xun. Sima Yi looks like he's swimming, and Lu Xun's blows are just too dang slow. I don't waste money on getting the Special- I just wait to have all my Training bits to be done.

personally i find it very difficult to attach Flash and i can see why that is.. because after you do have this IT IS ALL OVER FOR THE ENEMY AND YEAH CRUSH THEM ALL EASILY!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT THEY GET GUAH HA HA...

ok seriously here is what i tend to put on my weapons ready?

flash wheni can afford it
arrow site
phantom hand
leach
balance

and abilities?

STEAL STEAL STEAL yep money is key in this game..
blizzard
revive

this way you don't have to worry about food you can always heal yourself. so in essence you will have infinate life. it is very important especially when playing on harder modes..

Not to mention you have to waste some time walking towards the horse, which never comes directly at your feet upon its arrival (sometimes even an screen length away or often they get trapped behind some random walls), as well time wasted jumping on and off every time you wish to go somewhere or initiate into battle. Not to mention you can't climb mountains while mounted.

That's why I generally avoid using horses when I have True Speed passive skill purchased. Even though True Speed has its annoying points (activates when I'm in the middle of a fight) and Red Hare may be faster, it still saves me more time and frustration using True Speed than riding Red Hare.

The only times I ride a horse is during the start of the scenario where I don't have enough funds to get True Speed.

And that it ... or maybe if I buy some Imbue for my Caw weapon I will add it to the list ...

EDIT:I was nicknamed True Speed Demon because of me using it XD

I usually change the specials out every game but I always keep Rockfall on someone I plan to play. It's just too entertaining. X) And also I find its the most useful and damaging elemental attack thing as it charges very quickly and does a lot of damage.

And it's funny. :P

the four that i ALWAYS add as soon as possible are Lightening and True Musou Imbue and Blizzard and Double Special. hit the double button and then have True Musou and you can generally shave most of the life from even "hyper" officers. Blizzard and Lightening both have explosive and stunning/freezing crowd-clearing capabilities.

Well,for me,it's random.

However,Imbues I must have are:
Flash
Guardian Spirit
Phantom Hand

That are the ones I ALWAYS put on. The rest, well, depends. True Musou,I use that often. And sometimes an element,if the charge attacks don't have any special effect (Generics always get elements).

Specials are random, too. Powerhouse characters mostly get specials that make them stronger or so.

Think what you want about that,I do it my way and when I keep losing on Chaos because of bad weapons,it's my fault.
