 I'm surprised nobody made a topic for Katō-san yet, discuss all about Hideyoshi's loyal retainer here. He's one of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake, a Toyotomi loyalist siding on the Eastern Army alongside Kuroda Kanbei and was known as "Devil Kiyomasa" in his battles. |

Haha, I was going to made a topic about him just a minute ago  .My personal favorite of the new characters so far. Expecting to see a great story for him if they make him a loyal Toyotomi retainer who later starts rivalry with Mitsunari. Scythe is not a bad choice of a weapon for him. He was a ruthless warrior in the battlefield and I'm sure he's going to prove that with his scythe. And grey hair... he's probably much older than he looks. Perhaps one of the most anticipated characters makes an appearance. He looks pretty good, that scythe is sweet. I'd like to see how he's portrayed now that he's playable and unique because he seemed like a whiny tool in SW2. Well, he did have an interesting part to play in all events so I would like to see his storymode and rivalry with Mitsunari. It may finally intensify since they're both unique. Will Masanori make an appearance to complete the three? I'd like to see him but I doubt it. Kiyomasa will have to do. |

I'm glad to see another scythe wielder besides Orochi in the Warriors series. And this will in NO WAY be the same as Orochi's (I hope...), which is good. An all, no mystical attacks, scythe moveset is something I've wanted from the games, and in general I love scythe's, so really I can expect I'll like this character already. His appearance seems a bit plain compared to some others, but I actually like it for that. He's still well unique enough, and I'm expecting I'll probably like the character as well. |

As much as I'd like to see Masanori, I believe KOEI will be satisfied with two characters who were loyal Toyotomi retainers but joined forces with the Tokugawa during Sekigahara. There is still at least one new character left and I'll be pretty surprised if it turns out to be Masanori. |

I dunno, she had a scythe in DW4 and 5, sure, but I never really got the feel of a scythe moveset from it, as such. (As such I sometimes forget she even had a scythe  )Hoping this'll be different than that, and with such a warrior-looking character, I believe it should probably be a lot better for it. I've always found SW better in that respect anyway, so another plus assuming this game doesn't change too much from the basics. |

Haha, maybe next time for another anticipating new character, LoW-san. And seeing the Mitsunari rivaly on his/with Masanori's side is remarkable change. Seeing how it might reveal a small spotlight for the Eastern Army..
A "plain appearance..." From what Kiyomasa's wearing, a yellow/gold hakama with green garments. Not to mention the Kato clan crest. :p |

I don't think Kiyomasa is going to be such an interesting character. Surely, he appeared in big battles, but I guess he would be like Honda, only for the Toyotomi. In other words, boring character who speaks of loyalty and is slightly overpowered. I'm not impressed with this guy. |

I doubt you know anything about Kiyomasa then. Kiyomasa was a complete ass unlike Tadakatsu. He thought dancing and singing were disgusting things for warriors to do and would order his men to kill themselves if caught doing the former. When a daimyo in Kyushu, he ordered Christian hunts to eliminate any Christian presence in his land, and had a terrible feud with Yukinaga Konishi, his neighboring Christian daimyo. In Korea, he gained a fearful reputation among the Koreans as a man who hunted and wrestled tigers. The guy was a violent, bloodthirsty warrior. |

It was before Sekigahara even. Kiyomasa was a militant Buddhist, and despised Christianity and probably all other forms of religion as well.

About time he was added to the series really, I really like the idea of a scythe for his weapon, that should add a fairly unique moveset. His appearance is a little too generic though... |

Only question is now how will they handle his personality. His rather normal "I don't mess around with frivolities" look has potential for him to be an utter beast. Perhaps this time Koei will follow through historically? Now that I look at him, his left arm reminds me of Katsuie, another guy who didn't mess around. |

He might have a good moveset with that scythe, but Kiyomasa won't have stats like Tadakatsu or Keiji theres no way he'd be that powerful. On the other hand his personality could sway in any direction at this point. |

When I saw his design I immediately thought :"Hideyoshi's answer to Tadakatsu". I would bet on those two having an epic showdown at Komaki-Nagakute, or something of the sort. Honestly I think he's a great addition, he was one of Hideyoshi's top warriors who fought at pretty much every majorn campaign of his. Love the design, although he looks a bit too young to have white hair!! |

Well I didn't. Tadakatsu looks like a unbeatable warrior and he looks like a peasant with a scyth. I wanted Kiyomasa to look something like this with a proper samurai sword not like Toshiie/Taigongwang. I like his weapon though. |

Either way I'm predicting stats similar to Yukimura rather than Tadakatsu and Keiji, moveset wise is a toss up though, Koei could make it or break it in an instant. But I agree with you I like the overall design though I actually don't mind the white hair.

YES! kiyomasa, i already see that i will love this character, just from his little smirk in that picture! and i must say i love scyths! (real scyths, not that crap Orochi one  ) he lloks like he will be a confident ruthless warrior who puts fear not only in the hear of his enemies, but his allies aswell, my kind of character, i'm assuming he will be a tad similar to keiji (just a bit) but more strict and less silly.

Based on Seraphil's description, I'd say this guy could have quite a few rivalries ... Nothing like the addition of a new character who wields a BF scythe  With his hatred of Christianity though, I'm wondering how much they'll touch on that ... also, isn't Kuroda Kanbei a Christian? Inner-clan rivalry perhaps?
